you DONT have to give someone the reason you're arresting them on the spot, it has to be given back at the station, and reasonable force can be used to arrest someone, ie.if they resist force can and will be used

2) anyway the cops came for me and I gave it all back and I got arrested. He was meant to be marring a young one think 17 yrs old then.

This problem is easily fixed. Get the relevant gov ministers to renegotiate the deal with Shell. I'm not convinced there are any significant environmental risks. I'm sick of locals complaining about "the view" being spoiled by a pipeline.

The view argument I agree with you but from personal experience, it doesn't take the guards much to come on the heavy (mayday, dublin) and even trump up some ould charge to arrest you just to keep you quiet (donegal). 2) You are not charged until you have been interviewed back at the station & sufficient evidence has be gathered to charge you.
3) Force was justifiable here as he did not comply with the gardaí, so he should of been brought to the ground and cuffed there.
