@BBEEAANN1 Clearly you did not read my post correctly. I did not state that the F-22 was grounded. I specifically stated that SOME of them are grounded due to airframe problems which apparently will cost millions to fix. You are wrong re the cost per unit, the aircraft is astronomically expensive out of the box, hence Obama has cancelled any further orders. It simply does not deliver what was promised and it is ridiculously expensive.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The Redflag exercises it has flown in prove what it is worth. When you can destroy an entire airforce with a handful of squadrons I would say it will more than pay for itself if it ever sees combat. The airframe issues have been fixed and were fixed years ago as I stated before. One more time, can you link me your typhoon encounter with the F-22 4 years ago?
@BBEEAAN Search for a clip on YT, I think it is called, 'The Truth About The F-22.' The airframe issues have NOT been resolved. A number of aircraft are permanently grounded due to severe stress cracks. In addition, it requires an inordinate amount of servicing IE 30 hrs maintainance per ONE HOUR of flight- and that is in peacetime, where far less stress is placed on the machines. Taking that into consideration, the USAF would probably have no servicable ac left after one week of war!
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH in 2007 41 of the entire fleet of the F-22 were built with the original design for the core structure which engineers did not believe would be able to last the 8000 airframe lifespan hours. The rest of the fleet was built with the new design fixing this issue and the rest were fixed, it did cost more money to do though.
@BBEEAAN However you try and defend it, the F-22 has been a hugely expensive failure. It was many years late into service, after over 20 years of development. Even after 20 years of development, it was STILL riddled with serious flaws. It's stealth capability dissipates when it rains!! It requires a ridiculous amount of maintainance relative to the amount of time it spends in the air. If it was so great, why build less than 200 out of a projected build of 780? WHITE ELEPHANT.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH If you call what it has done at Redflag and against the EF a failure, fine... but, when you arent loosing aircraft and it is dominating everything it is flying against I cant see how you can call it a failure. Flagging my post about what it did to the EF as spam doesnt change the fact that the EF lost 3 BVR and 3 WVR simulations against the F-22. It isnt junk and will dominate everything it flies against.
@BBEEAAN Throughout military history, for EVERY means of defence, their is ALWAYS a means of attack. 'Stealth' has a very limited shelf life. It was proved back in the 1980's that radar could defeat 'stealth' technology. Don't believe me? Go and research OTH- Over the horizon radar, which bounces the radar signature off the ionosphere. Also, research Bi-static radar. If you regard a total build of 188 ac from a programme which stipulated 750+ as a success, what do regard as failure??
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Maybe you should stop watching videos that are years old about an aircraft that has proven itself in simulated combat. Over and over again the F-22 has done the job it was designed to do. Were there issues that needed to worked on? yes. Do I believe the F-22 was the best choice for the ATF? No, the YF-23 was better but, the F-22 isnt garbage and has proven itself to be what it was designed to be, an air superiority fighter.
@BBEEAAN Please provide your source re Red Flag. That is contrary to everything I have read in the past. To my knowledge, it is widely accepted that the F-22 will not live with a EF in close VR combat. It simply does not possess the manouevrability. Also re stealth, I would be interested to hear your opinion about it's performance in the rain? Let's hope it never rains in the event of a major war in future!
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Sir, you stated 4 years ago the Typhoon beat the F-22 in simulated combat. The F-22 was not engaged in any simulated combat with foreign aircraft 4 years ago. You have read absolutely nothing about exercises against the EF past this year because they never happened. The only planes that saw the F-22 in combat was the USAF. 4 months ago the F-22 faced the EF in simulated combat and lost 6 exercises to the F-22. 3 were BVR and 3 were WVR, it lost all 6.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH As far as the rain goes, the US has plenty of other aircraft that can handle their business in rain, or do you actually think that the F-15 and the F-16 being fitted with high off bore sites and new missles are going to suddenly disappear from the US arsenal? As far as VR combat goes, the F-22 has the best T/W ratio of any current aircraft. You forget the F-22 has no drag with missles on its wings but, the EF does. The F-22 will destroy it in combat...
@BBEEAAN The F-15 WAS the finest air superiority fighter in the world-once. I suggest you trawl the net for the article about what happened in NW England in Cumbria a couple of years ago. A pair of F-15's decided to free lance and bounce a Typhoon on a routine training flight. They got owned, despite having entered the mock combat with the tactical advantages of surprise and height. It was all over the media. Re the F-22, you are defending a white elephant- production figures say it all
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The F-15 is still the finest air superiority fighter, when an aircraft finally out does it in a combat record then, and only then can you say it isnt. The EF bleeds energy like a stuck pig, this is a known fact and why the Rafale beat it in simulated combat regularly. Once again, I would like a link to this supposed F-15 vs Typhoon training exercise. I would also like to know the parameters of the exercise. The F-15 is better in the merge than the EF..
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH to say that an EF would easily handle an F-15 is hard to believe, unless novices are flying the F-15. Redflag shows that I am not defending a white elephant, the F-22 beating the EF in 6 simulated exercises, not losing one, shows I am not defending a white elephant. I find it humorous you call the F-22 a white elephant because the US debt is hindering it from building more F-22's, it has nothing to do with its ability. If stealth was nothing, why are the Russians...
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Chinese, and every other country developing aircraft developing them with stealth characteristics if it is easily defeated by OTH radar? Seems to me, the person with the white elephant is you. You are clinging onto old reports about the F-22 that are a misrepresentation of the aircraft and what it has done at Redflag. Im sure all the F-15, F-16, F-18 and EF pilots that have been frustrated by it dont call it a white elephant.
@BBEEAAN As I advised you earlier, go & research it. Use you initiative & Google for the myriad of articles that appeared in the British media, including the BBC. I did explain that the F-15's bounced the Typhoon without any prior warning, or as part of a training Ex. As good as the F-15 is, it's airframe design dates back to the 1970's. It is not a requirement for another aircraft to achieve more kills before being declared more potent than the F-15, it is over 35 years old-simple as.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I have looked up the info on the Typhoon, the Rafale is better than it and has proved so in a myriad of exercises. The EF is also prone to losing energy while turning. Even though it can pull 9 g's, the second you get it twisting in the horizontal its speed dies whereas the F-15 doesnt. I have looked up the supposed articles and have found none. As I stated before, link me the articles since it is your job to provide the proof based on your statements.
@BBEEAAN Interesting. That must be why the Indian Air Force have binned the Rafale off and why they are still interested in the Eurofighter. You clearly haven't looked hard enough for the articles, they ARE readily available. How about searching for Typhoon V F15 Cumbria UK. I am not required to prove anything to you mon ami. If you wish to amount an argument that an airframe design that is over 35 years old is superior to one that is much more recent-that's your perogative :)
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH im sure that is why the Indian Air Force have binned it*rolls eyes* wouldnt have to do with anything political now would it? I have looked up your supposed Cumbria UK F-15 articles and there are none. Stop talking out your ass and actually link me some of this supposed nonsense your spewing or just shut up and go away. The F-35 is a current design and its airframe is a complete failure, your strawman arguments mean absolutely nothing with the EF pilots...
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH stating that the EF is a danger to fly because of computer failures. Once again link your articles or be quiet and go away. There were no exercises with the F-22/EF 4 years ago and your supposed story about an EF easily handling 2 F-15's in some supposed exercise are no where to be found either. The F-15 bleeds energy far less than the EF in the horizontal and this is fact. That is a 35 year old airframe against a modern airframe.
@BBEEAAN Clearly you are not nearly so clever as you like to assume. Re the articles in the British media about the incident in Cumbria, I found them months ago via Google. Despite me giving you a title to search on in a previous post, you are incapable of tracing the articles. A distinct lack of initiative on your behalf. In addition, there WAS an air to air Ex in the US approximately five years ago involving 2 Typhoons. They performed extremely well against the F-22.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH You found articles on blogs that are not factual... Just because someone posted it did not mean it was and if you read the article, that you left me as proof, you would know what it stated down in the blog. See I actually read up on what I am discussing. Here are older links to the computer corruption on the EF....Eurofighter at risk of 'catastrophic failure'
@BBEEAAN In addition, re the F-15, we haven't even begun to mention some of the latest Russian and Chinese kit-which is superb. As good as the F-15 is/was, it is on strictly borrowed time. To cling onto the concept that it is STILL numero uno is naive in the extreme and very myopic. I assume WHEN you find the Typhoon v F-15 articles that will change your mind will it?? I suspect not, it will no doubt take more than that for you to remove your rose tinted aviators......lol
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH All the US needs to do with the F-15/F-16 is slap TVC on them like they did in the 80's and their would be no airforce in the world that could handle these 50 year old aircraft. The F-14 was suppose to see upgrades, which Dick Chenney stopped from happening, that would have made it the most powerful aircraft in the US arsenal. It was already better than the F-15 when it came out and it would be double what the F-14D was. Stop talking out your ass and...
@BBEEAAN Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one.......Feel free to assume that an airframe designed more than 35 years ago is superior to anything else anybody else has manufactured recently, or will do so in the future. We haven't even touched on the MIG 35 yet either. ROFL
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The Russians have tried to sell the MiG-35 to other countries and no one wants the aircraft because it is dated. Maybe if you read up on the topics you discuss you would know this. The F-15 first flew in 71' and people are finally designing something that can almost compare to it. If it is upgraded, as the report I left you says, not even your taunted EFT can compare to it. please quiet down and actually look at the data.
@BBEEAAN Ever heard of Wikipedia? Run a search on the Eurofighter. It includes comments from a USAF test pilot, who has flown BOTH F-22 & Typhoon-most interesting. It also refers to an episode in Cumbria involving two F-15's & a Typhoon. Never happened hey?
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Yes I have read the articles and General Jumper does not bring up any of the supposed exercises against the EF. Even the RAF pilots, when discussing the EFT, dont compare it to the F-22. They compare it to the F-15, F-16, and F-18, why? Because the EFT is not even close the F-22 in ability. Once again, go read your blog that has that on there and read what people state about it, it never happened.
@BBEEAAN In addition, ever heard of the Sea Harrier? In 1981, a USAF Aggressor Sqn fought mock combats against the RN SHAR, the aggressors got pasted. Better yet, an F-15 Sdn in Germany heard about this, contacted Lt Cmdr Sharkey Ward- (who later fought in the Falklands & shot down three Argentine aircraft) and the Yanks sent a flight of Eagles over to the UK. They fought the SHAR and the SHAR maintained a 3:1 kill ratio against the Eagles. FACT- Read Ward's book & Google it.
@BBEEAAN Please do quote your source re the EF's tendancy to lose energy while turning. I find that extremely hard to believe, given it's excellent power to weight ratio and lighter airframe than an F-15. The EF is reknown for being able to RETAIN energy during combat manouevres.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Once again, look up the advantages and disadvantages to delta wing designs. The delta wing configuration gives you great maneuverability at the cost of bleeding energy when turning....
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH in order to be considered greater than the F-15 you have to have a combat record. No other aircraft, other than the F-14 has more kills than the F-15. The F-14, in the Iraq Iran war stacked up a huge kill count against smaller supposedly more agile aircraft. Juse because you are declared more potent, doesnt mean you are.
@BBEEAAN So it is essential to rack up more kills before one aircraft can be considered more potent than other is it? Tell me, which aircraft was more potent, the Me 262, or the English Electric Lightning? According to your logic, the Me 262 would be king of the hill simply because it acquired some combat kills. In reality, the Lightning would slaughter the Me. You cannot insist on rating aricraft simply based on kills.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The Me262 could not turn well, it flew faster than other aircraft but, the P-51 Mustang pilots learned how to defeat the jet and were tearing it up after they figured out its weaknesses.
@BBEEAAN Google, "The Eurofighter Beat F-22 In Real Tests," and you will also find an article regarding the mock combat over Cumbria involving a twin seat Typhoon trainer and two F-15's. Mooch around a bit more and you find other articles from the media in relation to the incident.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Eurofighter Typhoon - Demon or Lemon? Here is one of the articles that shows the F-15, if upgraded with current radars and engines would out do anything the the EFT has on it, even upgraded. So much for your argument that a supposedly older design is insignificant to a new one. As far as your "The Eurofighter Beat F-22 In Real Tests," goes... This was the supposed rumored exercise that never happened. This is when the US and Britian were allowing each....
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH other to fly their new aircraft. There were no simulated combat exercises 4 years ago. It was all a bunch of nonsense and if you read up on this article you would know it was just that. As far as the EFT vs the F-15, the EFT doesnt have the T/W ratio of the F-15 and will get its ass handed to it in the horizontal. When it comes to loss of energy, delta wing designs are known to lose energy faster, this is why the US tried to stay away from delta wing designs....
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH look up the Delta wing at wikipedia and read the properties part of the article. It will explain to you what the advantages and disadvantages to a delta wing are. Yes you do have good maneuverability when you first start turning but, you bleed energy really fast and that means the longer you are in the horizontal, with a less than par T/W ratio, the faster you die. This is simple physics
@BBEEAAN "The F-15 'IF' ungraded........" Not interested in 'if's,' 'but's,' or 'maybe's.......The F-15 is a fine aircraft, but despite regular avionic upgrades, it will find it increasingly difficult to compete against newer designs. There is no escaping the inevitability of this fact. It is futile to argue otherwise. As already highlighted, the SHAR gave the F-15 a 3:1 spanking in mock combat back in 1981, so it met it's theoretical nemesis 31 years ago.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Where is your articles for your supposed spanking. The F-14 ate up the F-15 as well and yet look at the combat record of the F-15. You do know when you have exercises there are parameters set for these exercises right? What were the parameters? A perfect example of people thinking the F-15 sucks is Cape India. Did the Indians win in Cape India? yes. Did they set the parameters for the exercise so the F-15 had its hands tied behind its back? Yes...
@BBEEAAN Read Lt Cmdr 'Sharkey' Ward's book, 'Sea Harrier Over The Falklands.' All the detail you crave can be found. Incidentally, Ward was tasked with the responsibility of evaluating the SHAR & effectively integrated it into Fleet Air Arm service. He commanded 801 Sqn during the Falklands. He was referred to in the FA as, 'Mr Sea Harrier.' The mock combat between the SHAR & F-15's was full on, no holds barred- the F-15 took a 3:1 hiding. Read Ward.
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH As stated prior to this, if the F-15 got modern engines and simple avionics upgrades, no modern aircraft, including your precious EFT, would stand a chance against it. Even now, with its aged engines and avionics does the EFT, Russian or Chinese "new" designs barely stand a chance against it....
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The combat record of the F-15 should convince you, if you want to continue to be ignorant of the things stated fine, doesnt matter to me. Hopefully you did actually go to the links that I left you and read all of the articles to learn something. Have a nice day and once again, it was nice chatting with you.
@BBEEAAN The combat record of the F-15 should convince you, if you want to continue to be ignorant of the things stated fine, doesnt matter to me. Hopefully you did actually go to the links that I left you and read all of the articles to learn something. Have a nice day and once again, it was nice chatting with you.
@BBEEAANN1 The F-22 is so great that only 188 out of a projected 750+ aircraft have been purchased at a ridiculous $355 million per unit. It is SO good that Obama has cancelled any further production. The airframe is flawed, with numerous aircraft grounded due to stress cracks. Many milions of dollars have been spent of airframe repairs/modifications and it STILL isn't right. The F-22 is a busted flushed that simply has not delivered what was promised. FUBAR.
@BBEEAANN1 That is interesting. Approximately four years ago, the USAF ran an air to air combat exercise and they invited the RAF to participate with Typhoons. Two RAF Typhoons flew to the US. The Typhoons thrashed the F-22 in visual range combat. Then it REALLY upset the USAF by achieving radar lock on the F-22 BEYOND visual range, thereby demonstrating that the 'stealth' capability is far from perfect. The USAF cancelled the Ex on day two. I wonder why? Teddy bear out of cot :)
Engineers analyzed this MiG-25 and found that the pilots ejection seat activated a self destruct charge in the cockpit. The Soviets were so paranoid about the plane falling into enemy hands, they deliberately put a self destruct without telling the pilots.
@BBEEAANN1 but did u have a look at the links i send? they r not mine its what's on line nmost come from america i just hate to think billions r wasted in bailouts to help the thieving rich as poor discent ppl r suffering huge economics hardships even i now feel sure Revelation is coming n Jesus will bring real peace i still hate all injustices
@BBEEAANN1 first of all the parts did not fir n had to be remachined by hand cause all the manufacturing was shared thre plane Never performed nothing as expected More important is it worth $60B to keep 9000 ppl at work producing something that didn't work anyway or spend that money on the millions living in tents caravans cars even out without any shelter at all n the $800 B to wall str crooks in one fo alone how about the Trillion on wars to linethe pockers of oil barrons arms manufacturers?
@BBEEAANN1 just search on u tube Macain also wanted to scrap itcan u not understand all they wanted was to make their money at taxpayers expense i know us industry is the biggest on earth but the us is run for the benefit of the elite Not america's do u really think 42 Million ppl who live bellow the poverty line should be forgoten for thesake of the elite? r they not humans also born on this earth God gave us all to live on? i was never antiamerican but i hate the leeches runnng your country
@BBEEAANN1 in the end both re[ublicans n demograds agreed it had to go but it succeeded in what it set out to make in the first place Billions for the well connected who shared the building of the raptor Not on ability but political connectios look it up its just another daylight robbery by the elite n the poor had to pay it was scrapped man finish canceled but Not B4 they made their billions is this what u call freedom?
while $800 Billions given to wall street crooks so much money to line the pockets of the elite as 16M americans live bellow the poverty line drives me mad to think about it ppl want jobs n a good standard of living not wars the elite creat wars for their benefit n expect the poor to pay for the wars with their taxes n their blood if they question it they r Libtards commies traitors even was is only justified if u r prepaired to send your OWN to fight n die for J Ventura a Real Honest man
@BBEEAANN1 The Truth About the Useless F-35 & F-22
after evaluation by the RAAF n the USAR they both came to the same conclution the F22 was canceled it was an amazingly expensive piece of junk made billions for few at taxpayers expense in the end they said it can't clime it can't turn it can't run n this against Sukois 27s n 30s not later models or the king of the skies Terminator T50 n the f15 even better than the raptor was totally outclassed millions losing their jobs houses n futures
that was epic. I think the entire family of the pilot was shot to death instantly aswell as his commanders, dogs and pretty much anything closer than 5 miles range from his place. on the other hand the west descovered that the foxbat was nothing but a pure russian thing: a huge flying brick. it wasn't by any mean that advanced aircraft everybody was expected to be.., only it was equiped with two trully monstrous jet engines.
@wcvbw advanced enough not to be dedected till it was almost on top of them
F22 Raptor Exposed - Why the F22 Was Cancelled
The Truth About the Useless F-35 & F-22
$60B to develope the F22 shared among the politically well "connected" republican arms manufacturers FA to do with technical Ability daylight robbery the rich rob the poor pay Plutogracy at its Best the real reason the Raptor failed so badly
the F-22 and F-35 can only engage a target in stealth if it has an AWACS to pick out targets for it meaning it is useless in enemy airspace if no AWACS is available
@warriorxp111 u think american engineers couldn't do much better for far less if the priority was to build the best they could? but international money men control america at america's expense n they want their lion's share
What a beautiful aircraft. The new jets,Russian or American, just don't have the same lines like these. When I was a little boy,I was obsessed with the Foxbat,Eagle,Mirage and Tomcat....The new breed just isn't the same.Ugly planes nowadays...
@Spetsnaz97x reference my previous post. you know little about aviation. the speed of that plane had nothing to do with it. Change the engines after every mach 2+ flight? sounds like piss poor engineering to me.
@beergut111 hey kido, they dont change engines after every mach 2+ flights, they do it when it exceeds 3,250 kmph, which is amazing, a plane built in the mid 1960s, having engines capable of tht speed and moreover with extreme usuage of speeds upto 2,800kmp, it just owns any american plane..... it is true unique plane, untrained iraqi pilots itself shot 4 planes of usa in gulf war, imagine what a soviet pilot can do?? whoop ass everybody, moreover it was built as a interceptor and look at it!!!!
Belenko was an American spy. He was working for the CIA since his childhood.
He stole the Mig-25 under the KGB's nose. It was so bad that KPSS did not know who is trustworthy anymore. Every pilot was interrogated and investigated. Many of them were kicked out from the Air Force. Belenko fathered 6 children in the US and Canada. Three women were involved. To hide his whereabouts he changed his gender and moved to Argentina. KGB tried to kill him but they got his impersonator. He did not write.
Belenko was a Russian patriot. He worked for his country and against the criminals who ran it from 1920 to 1989. Oh, and how many children does Putin have?
@webpa Belenko was a russian patriot, whom stolen russian fighter and bring it to enemy, and what a patriot he's after that? You americanes morones always think you give to people freedom, but in reality you taken it
@AndrewPowergo you may be right but your claiming freedom rings free in the russian federation? tell me what your smoking so i know what to look for to escape reality. we arent perfect but we have more latitude than the russians EVER have had. and if we americans are so moronic then please explain to me why why we have military bases all over the world? maybe we are dumb but the way i see it we are the smarter idiots. how many american pilots have defected to russia i wonder? not many im guessin
@Rimasta1 you are not smarter you're arrogant and deceitful cunning. Don't think America always would be world leader, you are too self-confident. 20-30 years and game over like with USSR.
@AndrewPowergo of course america wont be in the lead forever. no empire or state has EVER stood the test of time in terms of reigning supreme. oh history will also prove that the big bad russians have had their ass's handed to them more than once from tiny countries, most famous the Russo-Japanese war. so what you will be russia is in the same boat as america. and you called us cunning so doesnt that imply intelligence? but we're dumb right? know what your going to say before you say it plz.
@AndrewPowergo He was a patriot in the sense that he loved Russia and the USSR more than he loved the Politburo, if you can understand the analogy. He loved his country but not its rulers. There are plenty of Americans and British who defected to the USSR under the same premise. It's a little naive, since most idealistic defectors got taken for a ride by the host government, but the sentiment is all the same.
You can tell by looking at the cockpit that this plane was built with speed in mind. However, that kind of cockpit window is really bad for dogfighting. It is the second fastest plane ever built, after the SR-71.
Belenko, a traitor or the biggest KGB agent of all the times... we will never know.
I have my doubts, really, perhaps the mig was a watered down version of the real one. I mean, how the hell did he escaped from all the soviet AA missiles?
Except the AIM-54 Phoenix, as written in the book by Tom Cooper and Farzad Bishop, " Iranian F-14 Tomcat Units in Combat". It was difficult for even the Phoenix to catch it, you had to get the envelope and the geometry right and it took a lot of work.
The Foxbat goes mach 3.2 , the Phoenix exceeds mach 4. One more thing, the Foxbat set an absolute altitude record of 123,520 ft under its own power on August 31, 1977, with A. Fedorov at the controls.
if you are real spy - ok, you are doing your job. but if you are bastard like that pilot, who sold the magnifecent piece of aircraft art to eneny - you deserve to die. i guess any american patriot anderstands me.
@thirdromeprivate you say that until that same plane starts shooting at you, that's what happened to me over Iraq- F-15 strike flight, 489 air intercept squadron.
@emerychandler it changes nothing in this rule for me. you are fighter, he is a bastard. i'm glad you're alive. so it started shooting. what was next?
@thirdromeprivate Well we always fly with a wing man, the other guy had one too. We started off flying in a circle waiting for one to make a dart across to attack. His wing man made the first move and that allowed me to jump on the other guy. I fired with guns first and found it did not do the damage I needed so I fired the sparrow. my wing man did a "summer salt strike" (that's were you go up, role to the left and pull out on the left to get behind the enemy) and he finished it there.
@HeildemKrieg i don't know. there is a short 50 page book called 'the law' and it was written in 1850 by Frederick bastiat. it deals with the problems of socialism. it's very good, i would recommend to everyone to read it.
it might have been ok, but in socialism you are tied to the fate of the state you live in. btw usa isn't capitalism. it's corporatism and a kind of mercantilism-which is worse than socialism in some ways, in my opionion.
I just cant believe how ignorant americans are.. you know crap about russian planes or planes in general, but still you claim radars are worse or avionics are worse or the fuckin paint is worse.. pull your heads out of your asses once and for all. Russian planes are good! Its that simple. Indian SU30MKI were at red flag last year, ask your comrade F15 pilots for what happened.
The only thing that is faster then a MiG 25 is an SR71.. oh yes.. and MiG 31 too. You don't have ANYTHING like it. STFU
your government fucked several generations of your families, and you support it? and on top of that, you think, even if you and your government were somehow on the same side, you had any chance against the west? HA!
the americans fucked several generations as well in their own country and 3rd world countries. They murdered many Native Americans, turning the other eye when the kkk was roaming. Supporting fighting in other countries by handing out guns to kill some more, ruined countries with their "strategic bombing" (Vietnam)
but the government of the soviet regieme, was anything but 'for the people'. where as in the US it is debatable. still clearly, the us gov isn't either.
america need russia, china,n korea n all those wars in this world,u no why?they need money to fools their own tex payer.fuk politiccion.in all the goverments of the world r suck
I believe that USSR planes would be as good (if not better) as Western planes, but due to poor radar and missile systems the Soviet planes would be taken out at a further distance. (Please don't reply to this comment, I'm just saying my thoughts and I don't want to be spammed by some fanboy)
@oggybodoggy You must be getting hate mail by the bucket loads for your opinion on these Russian junk Planes.
Russia can't even make a bread truck that doesn't break down once a week so know wonder Russian aircraft crash so often from cheap low quality workmanship .
@Moldovawineimporter This is the first one actually, I believe that a Russian plane would easily be shot down because of their crap missiles and AA systems, but in a proper WW2 dogfight I think a Russian plane would out maneuver a westernplane because of their more advanced 3d thrust vectoring, by the poor quality you have to keep in mind that most Russian planes don't have a hangar, they are outside with exception of maintenance. The thing I like about the MiG -25 is the HUGE engines!
@oggybodoggy in a ww2 dogfight between modern jetfighters, nobody wins. The reason we stopped dogfighting is because guns are nearly useless at those speeds. :D
@tlucentefl Guns are useless at those speeds? Why would they be nearly useless? When the F-4 phantom was made, it had rockets instead of a canon, but the rockets were unreliable and the plane couldn't carry that many at a time, the result being they had to put the gun back into later planes. My point is that some russian aircraft are more agile than american and european planes. Just after what I've read and seen, feel free to feel different.
@oggybodoggy Notice I said -modern-. Russian planes may be more agile, but agility is a poor substitute for stealth and missile defense. An f-22 or 35 would smoke one of these flying coffins from 25 miles out before it's pilot knew he was being shot at. Now about guns being useless...the reason we switched to missiles is because gun simply lack the ability to keep up with a supersonic fighter in a turn. Fighters these days have guns for a "just in case" situation.
@Moldovawineimporter That's been my understanding of them also. It's hard to believe the Israelis used second hand Russian junk to defend against nearly every middle eastern country attacking them at once however. Like most countries with a toleration history I'm willing to bet whatever quality you do find is focused on war machines, but without a diverse industry they still don't compare.
@Khyrid I am living in the Republic of Moldova, on our border of Moldova and Ukraine there is a area called Transnistria which is being held by a gang of Russian Thug militants supported by Putin, so nut case Putin supports these rebels with Russian troops and military hardware which is quiet easy to see the newest Russian Military equipment in this area which is often broken down and being towed back to base !
Other Russian equipment looks like some afghan villager hammer it out in a mud hut!
MiG 25 & 31 have mach 3+ capability, but poor to mediocre turning ability. The F-15 was built to counter the mythical Soviet "superplane" in the early 70's,America believed the hype and propaganda about the new Russian aircraft. The Eagle is far superior in an actual dogfight. But the Foxbat & Foxhound have a higher top speed.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The Redflag exercises it has flown in prove what it is worth. When you can destroy an entire airforce with a handful of squadrons I would say it will more than pay for itself if it ever sees combat. The airframe issues have been fixed and were fixed years ago as I stated before. One more time, can you link me your typhoon encounter with the F-22 4 years ago?
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Search for a clip on YT, I think it is called, 'The Truth About The F-22.' The airframe issues have NOT been resolved. A number of aircraft are permanently grounded due to severe stress cracks. In addition, it requires an inordinate amount of servicing IE 30 hrs maintainance per ONE HOUR of flight- and that is in peacetime, where far less stress is placed on the machines. Taking that into consideration, the USAF would probably have no servicable ac left after one week of war!
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH in 2007 41 of the entire fleet of the F-22 were built with the original design for the core structure which engineers did not believe would be able to last the 8000 airframe lifespan hours. The rest of the fleet was built with the new design fixing this issue and the rest were fixed, it did cost more money to do though.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN However you try and defend it, the F-22 has been a hugely expensive failure. It was many years late into service, after over 20 years of development. Even after 20 years of development, it was STILL riddled with serious flaws. It's stealth capability dissipates when it rains!! It requires a ridiculous amount of maintainance relative to the amount of time it spends in the air. If it was so great, why build less than 200 out of a projected build of 780? WHITE ELEPHANT.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH If you call what it has done at Redflag and against the EF a failure, fine... but, when you arent loosing aircraft and it is dominating everything it is flying against I cant see how you can call it a failure. Flagging my post about what it did to the EF as spam doesnt change the fact that the EF lost 3 BVR and 3 WVR simulations against the F-22. It isnt junk and will dominate everything it flies against.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Throughout military history, for EVERY means of defence, their is ALWAYS a means of attack. 'Stealth' has a very limited shelf life. It was proved back in the 1980's that radar could defeat 'stealth' technology. Don't believe me? Go and research OTH- Over the horizon radar, which bounces the radar signature off the ionosphere. Also, research Bi-static radar. If you regard a total build of 188 ac from a programme which stipulated 750+ as a success, what do regard as failure??
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Maybe you should stop watching videos that are years old about an aircraft that has proven itself in simulated combat. Over and over again the F-22 has done the job it was designed to do. Were there issues that needed to worked on? yes. Do I believe the F-22 was the best choice for the ATF? No, the YF-23 was better but, the F-22 isnt garbage and has proven itself to be what it was designed to be, an air superiority fighter.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Please provide your source re Red Flag. That is contrary to everything I have read in the past. To my knowledge, it is widely accepted that the F-22 will not live with a EF in close VR combat. It simply does not possess the manouevrability. Also re stealth, I would be interested to hear your opinion about it's performance in the rain? Let's hope it never rains in the event of a major war in future!
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Sir, you stated 4 years ago the Typhoon beat the F-22 in simulated combat. The F-22 was not engaged in any simulated combat with foreign aircraft 4 years ago. You have read absolutely nothing about exercises against the EF past this year because they never happened. The only planes that saw the F-22 in combat was the USAF. 4 months ago the F-22 faced the EF in simulated combat and lost 6 exercises to the F-22. 3 were BVR and 3 were WVR, it lost all 6.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH As far as the rain goes, the US has plenty of other aircraft that can handle their business in rain, or do you actually think that the F-15 and the F-16 being fitted with high off bore sites and new missles are going to suddenly disappear from the US arsenal? As far as VR combat goes, the F-22 has the best T/W ratio of any current aircraft. You forget the F-22 has no drag with missles on its wings but, the EF does. The F-22 will destroy it in combat...
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN The F-15 WAS the finest air superiority fighter in the world-once. I suggest you trawl the net for the article about what happened in NW England in Cumbria a couple of years ago. A pair of F-15's decided to free lance and bounce a Typhoon on a routine training flight. They got owned, despite having entered the mock combat with the tactical advantages of surprise and height. It was all over the media. Re the F-22, you are defending a white elephant- production figures say it all
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The F-15 is still the finest air superiority fighter, when an aircraft finally out does it in a combat record then, and only then can you say it isnt. The EF bleeds energy like a stuck pig, this is a known fact and why the Rafale beat it in simulated combat regularly. Once again, I would like a link to this supposed F-15 vs Typhoon training exercise. I would also like to know the parameters of the exercise. The F-15 is better in the merge than the EF..
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH to say that an EF would easily handle an F-15 is hard to believe, unless novices are flying the F-15. Redflag shows that I am not defending a white elephant, the F-22 beating the EF in 6 simulated exercises, not losing one, shows I am not defending a white elephant. I find it humorous you call the F-22 a white elephant because the US debt is hindering it from building more F-22's, it has nothing to do with its ability. If stealth was nothing, why are the Russians...
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Chinese, and every other country developing aircraft developing them with stealth characteristics if it is easily defeated by OTH radar? Seems to me, the person with the white elephant is you. You are clinging onto old reports about the F-22 that are a misrepresentation of the aircraft and what it has done at Redflag. Im sure all the F-15, F-16, F-18 and EF pilots that have been frustrated by it dont call it a white elephant.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN As I advised you earlier, go & research it. Use you initiative & Google for the myriad of articles that appeared in the British media, including the BBC. I did explain that the F-15's bounced the Typhoon without any prior warning, or as part of a training Ex. As good as the F-15 is, it's airframe design dates back to the 1970's. It is not a requirement for another aircraft to achieve more kills before being declared more potent than the F-15, it is over 35 years old-simple as.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I have looked up the info on the Typhoon, the Rafale is better than it and has proved so in a myriad of exercises. The EF is also prone to losing energy while turning. Even though it can pull 9 g's, the second you get it twisting in the horizontal its speed dies whereas the F-15 doesnt. I have looked up the supposed articles and have found none. As I stated before, link me the articles since it is your job to provide the proof based on your statements.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Interesting. That must be why the Indian Air Force have binned the Rafale off and why they are still interested in the Eurofighter. You clearly haven't looked hard enough for the articles, they ARE readily available. How about searching for Typhoon V F15 Cumbria UK. I am not required to prove anything to you mon ami. If you wish to amount an argument that an airframe design that is over 35 years old is superior to one that is much more recent-that's your perogative :)
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH im sure that is why the Indian Air Force have binned it*rolls eyes* wouldnt have to do with anything political now would it? I have looked up your supposed Cumbria UK F-15 articles and there are none. Stop talking out your ass and actually link me some of this supposed nonsense your spewing or just shut up and go away. The F-35 is a current design and its airframe is a complete failure, your strawman arguments mean absolutely nothing with the EF pilots...
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH stating that the EF is a danger to fly because of computer failures. Once again link your articles or be quiet and go away. There were no exercises with the F-22/EF 4 years ago and your supposed story about an EF easily handling 2 F-15's in some supposed exercise are no where to be found either. The F-15 bleeds energy far less than the EF in the horizontal and this is fact. That is a 35 year old airframe against a modern airframe.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Clearly you are not nearly so clever as you like to assume. Re the articles in the British media about the incident in Cumbria, I found them months ago via Google. Despite me giving you a title to search on in a previous post, you are incapable of tracing the articles. A distinct lack of initiative on your behalf. In addition, there WAS an air to air Ex in the US approximately five years ago involving 2 Typhoons. They performed extremely well against the F-22.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH You found articles on blogs that are not factual... Just because someone posted it did not mean it was and if you read the article, that you left me as proof, you would know what it stated down in the blog. See I actually read up on what I am discussing. Here are older links to the computer corruption on the EF....Eurofighter at risk of 'catastrophic failure'

BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN In addition, re the F-15, we haven't even begun to mention some of the latest Russian and Chinese kit-which is superb. As good as the F-15 is/was, it is on strictly borrowed time. To cling onto the concept that it is STILL numero uno is naive in the extreme and very myopic. I assume WHEN you find the Typhoon v F-15 articles that will change your mind will it?? I suspect not, it will no doubt take more than that for you to remove your rose tinted aviators......lol
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH All the US needs to do with the F-15/F-16 is slap TVC on them like they did in the 80's and their would be no airforce in the world that could handle these 50 year old aircraft. The F-14 was suppose to see upgrades, which Dick Chenney stopped from happening, that would have made it the most powerful aircraft in the US arsenal. It was already better than the F-15 when it came out and it would be double what the F-14D was. Stop talking out your ass and...
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one.......Feel free to assume that an airframe designed more than 35 years ago is superior to anything else anybody else has manufactured recently, or will do so in the future. We haven't even touched on the MIG 35 yet either. ROFL
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The Russians have tried to sell the MiG-35 to other countries and no one wants the aircraft because it is dated. Maybe if you read up on the topics you discuss you would know this. The F-15 first flew in 71' and people are finally designing something that can almost compare to it. If it is upgraded, as the report I left you says, not even your taunted EFT can compare to it. please quiet down and actually look at the data.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Ever heard of Wikipedia? Run a search on the Eurofighter. It includes comments from a USAF test pilot, who has flown BOTH F-22 & Typhoon-most interesting. It also refers to an episode in Cumbria involving two F-15's & a Typhoon. Never happened hey?
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Yes I have read the articles and General Jumper does not bring up any of the supposed exercises against the EF. Even the RAF pilots, when discussing the EFT, dont compare it to the F-22. They compare it to the F-15, F-16, and F-18, why? Because the EFT is not even close the F-22 in ability. Once again, go read your blog that has that on there and read what people state about it, it never happened.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Please do quote your source re the EF's tendancy to lose energy while turning. I find that extremely hard to believe, given it's excellent power to weight ratio and lighter airframe than an F-15. The EF is reknown for being able to RETAIN energy during combat manouevres.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Once again, look up the advantages and disadvantages to delta wing designs. The delta wing configuration gives you great maneuverability at the cost of bleeding energy when turning....
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH in order to be considered greater than the F-15 you have to have a combat record. No other aircraft, other than the F-14 has more kills than the F-15. The F-14, in the Iraq Iran war stacked up a huge kill count against smaller supposedly more agile aircraft. Juse because you are declared more potent, doesnt mean you are.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN So it is essential to rack up more kills before one aircraft can be considered more potent than other is it? Tell me, which aircraft was more potent, the Me 262, or the English Electric Lightning? According to your logic, the Me 262 would be king of the hill simply because it acquired some combat kills. In reality, the Lightning would slaughter the Me. You cannot insist on rating aricraft simply based on kills.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH The Me262 could not turn well, it flew faster than other aircraft but, the P-51 Mustang pilots learned how to defeat the jet and were tearing it up after they figured out its weaknesses.
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Google, "The Eurofighter Beat F-22 In Real Tests," and you will also find an article regarding the mock combat over Cumbria involving a twin seat Typhoon trainer and two F-15's. Mooch around a bit more and you find other articles from the media in relation to the incident.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Eurofighter Typhoon - Demon or Lemon? Here is one of the articles that shows the F-15, if upgraded with current radars and engines would out do anything the the EFT has on it, even upgraded. So much for your argument that a supposedly older design is insignificant to a new one. As far as your "The Eurofighter Beat F-22 In Real Tests," goes... This was the supposed rumored exercise that never happened. This is when the US and Britian were allowing each....
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH other to fly their new aircraft. There were no simulated combat exercises 4 years ago. It was all a bunch of nonsense and if you read up on this article you would know it was just that. As far as the EFT vs the F-15, the EFT doesnt have the T/W ratio of the F-15 and will get its ass handed to it in the horizontal. When it comes to loss of energy, delta wing designs are known to lose energy faster, this is why the US tried to stay away from delta wing designs....
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH look up the Delta wing at wikipedia and read the properties part of the article.

LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Where is your articles for your supposed spanking. The F-14 ate up the F-15 as well and yet look at the combat record of the F-15. You do know when you have exercises there are parameters set for these exercises right? What were the parameters? A perfect example of people thinking the F-15 sucks is Cape India. Did the Indians win in Cape India? yes. Did they set the parameters for the exercise so the F-15 had its hands tied behind its back? Yes...
BBEEAAN 1 month ago
@BBEEAAN Read Lt Cmdr 'Sharkey' Ward's book, 'Sea Harrier Over The Falklands.' All the detail you crave can be found. Incidentally, Ward was tasked with the responsibility of evaluating the SHAR & effectively integrated it into Fleet Air Arm service. He commanded 801 Sqn during the Falklands. He was referred to in the FA as, 'Mr Sea Harrier.' The mock combat between the SHAR & F-15's was full on, no holds barred- the F-15 took a 3:1 hiding. Read Ward.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH As stated prior to this, if the F-15 got modern engines and simple avionics upgrades, no modern aircraft, including your precious EFT, would stand a chance against it. Even now, with its aged engines and avionics does the EFT, Russian or Chinese "new" designs barely stand a chance against it....

FUBAR.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH 1 month ago
@BBEEAANN1 That is interesting. Approximately four years ago, the USAF ran an air to air combat exercise and they invited the RAF to participate with Typhoons. Two RAF Typhoons flew to the US. The Typhoons thrashed the F-22 in visual range combat. Then it REALLY upset the USAF by achieving radar lock on the F-22 BEYOND visual range, thereby demonstrating that the 'stealth' capability is far from perfect. The USAF cancelled the Ex on day two. I wonder why? Teddy bear out of cot :)

The US Congress passed private Bill S.2961
The vote was unanimous. It made Belenko US citizen.
IgorF8X 10 months ago
Belenko was an American spy. He was working for the CIA since his childhood.
He stole the Mig-25 under the KGB's nose. It was so bad that KPSS did not know who is trustworthy anymore. Every pilot was interrogated and investigated. Many of them were kicked out from the Air Force. Belenko fathered 6 children in the US and Canada. Three women were involved. To hide his whereabouts he changed his gender and moved to Argentina. KGB tried to kill him but they got his impersonator. He did not write.

@76yakov
Belenko was a Russian patriot. He worked for his country and against the criminals who ran it from 1920 to 1989. Oh, and how many children does Putin have?
webpa 10 months ago 2
@webpa Belenko was a russian patriot, whom stolen russian fighter and bring it to enemy, and what a patriot he's after that? You americanes morones always think you give to people freedom, but in reality you taken it
AndrewPowergo 8 months ago
@AndrewPowergo you may be right but your claiming freedom rings free in the russian federation? tell me what your smoking so i know what to look for to escape reality. we arent perfect but we have more latitude than the russians EVER have had. and if we americans are so moronic then please explain to me why why we have military bases all over the world? maybe we are dumb but the way i see it we are the smarter idiots. how many american pilots have defected to russia i wonder? not many im guessin
Rimasta1 8 months ago
@Rimasta1 you are not smarter you're arrogant and deceitful cunning. Don't think America always would be world leader, you are too self-confident. 20-30 years and game over like with USSR.
AndrewPowergo 8 months ago
@AndrewPowergo of course america wont be in the lead forever. no empire or state has EVER stood the test of time in terms of reigning supreme. oh history will also prove that the big bad russians have had their ass's handed to them more than once from tiny countries, most famous the Russo-Japanese war. so what you will be russia is in the same boat as america. and you called us cunning so doesnt that imply intelligence? but we're dumb right? know what your going to say before you say it plz.
Rimasta1 8 months ago
@AndrewPowergo He was a patriot in the sense that he loved Russia and the USSR more than he loved the Politburo, if you can understand the analogy. He loved his country but not its rulers. There are plenty of Americans and British who defected to the USSR under the same premise. It's a little naive, since most idealistic defectors got taken for a ride by the host government, but the sentiment is all the same.
ULTRAHITLER 7 months ago
You can tell by looking at the cockpit that this plane was built with speed in mind. However, that kind of cockpit window is really bad for dogfighting. It is the second fastest plane ever built, after the SR-71.

Belenko, a traitor or the biggest KGB agent of all the times... we will never know.
I have my doubts, really, perhaps the mig was a watered down version of the real one. I mean, how the hell did he escaped from all the soviet AA missiles?
bogoid 11 months ago
@bogoid because plane goes 3.5+ mach on 40 km altitude, there is no missile that can shoot that down.
XStarss 10 months ago
@XStarss
Fedorov at the controls.

if you are real spy - ok, you are doing your job. but if you are bastard like that pilot, who sold the magnifecent piece of aircraft art to eneny - you deserve to die. i guess any american patriot anderstands me.
thirdromeprivate 11 months ago
@thirdromeprivate you say that until that same plane starts shooting at you, that's what happened to me over Iraq- F-15 strike flight, 489 air intercept squadron.
emerychandler 11 months ago
@emerychandler it changes nothing in this rule for me. you are fighter, he is a bastard. i'm glad you're alive. so it started shooting. what was next?
thirdromeprivate 11 months ago
@thirdromeprivate I shoved a sparrow up his exhaust ducts ;) after a few rounds in his gas centerfold.
emerychandler 11 months ago
@emerychandler so he was done. someone was backing you? how do you get out of his sight and got to his back?
thirdromeprivate 11 months ago
@thirdromeprivate Well we always fly with a wing man, the other guy had one too. We started off flying in a circle waiting for one to make a dart across to attack. His wing man made the first move and that allowed me to jump on the other guy. I fired with guns first and found it did not do the damage I needed so I fired the sparrow. my wing man did a "summer salt strike" (that's were you go up, role to the left and pull out on the left to get behind the enemy) and he finished it there.

@HeildemKrieg i don't know. there is a short 50 page book called 'the law' and it was written in 1850 by Frederick bastiat. it deals with the problems of socialism. it's very good, i would recommend to everyone to read it.
it might have been ok, but in socialism you are tied to the fate of the state you live in. btw usa isn't capitalism. it's corporatism and a kind of mercantilism-which is worse than socialism in some ways, in my opionion.
anyway, peace.

STFU

lol to the patriotic 'soviets' here...
your government fucked several generations of your families, and you support it? and on top of that, you think, even if you and your government were somehow on the same side, you had any chance against the west? HA!
CytherLynx 1 year ago
@CytherLynx
the americans fucked several generations as well in their own country and 3rd world countries. They murdered many Native Americans, turning the other eye when the kkk was roaming. Supporting fighting in other countries by handing out guns to kill some more, ruined countries with their "strategic bombing" (Vietnam)

Mig-25 was the fastest interceptor in the world. But it was a real Gas Hog!
Also, it was big flying liquor store! It used almost 500 bottles vodka per flight to cool its generators at high speed.

I believe that USSR planes would be as good (if not better) as Western planes, but due to poor radar and missile systems the Soviet planes would be taken out at a further distance. (Please don't reply to this comment, I'm just saying my thoughts and I don't want to be spammed by some fanboy)
oggybodoggy 1 year ago
@oggybodoggy You must be getting hate mail by the bucket loads for your opinion on these Russian junk Planes.
Russia can't even make a bread truck that doesn't break down once a week so know wonder Russian aircraft crash so often from cheap low quality workmanship .
Moldovawineimporter 1 year ago
@Moldovawineimporter This is the first one actually, I believe that a Russian plane would easily be shot down because of their crap missiles and AA systems, but in a proper WW2 dogfight I think a Russian plane would out maneuver a westernplane because of their more advanced 3d thrust vectoring, by the poor quality you have to keep in mind that most Russian planes don't have a hangar, they are outside with exception of maintenance. The thing I like about the MiG -25 is the HUGE engines!
oggybodoggy 1 year ago
@oggybodoggy in a ww2 dogfight between modern jetfighters, nobody wins. The reason we stopped dogfighting is because guns are nearly useless at those speeds. :D
tlucentefl 1 year ago
@tlucentefl Guns are useless at those speeds? Why would they be nearly useless? When the F-4 phantom was made, it had rockets instead of a canon, but the rockets were unreliable and the plane couldn't carry that many at a time, the result being they had to put the gun back into later planes. My point is that some russian aircraft are more agile than american and european planes. Just after what I've read and seen, feel free to feel different.
oggybodoggy 1 year ago
@oggybodoggy Notice I said -modern-. Russian planes may be more agile, but agility is a poor substitute for stealth and missile defense. An f-22 or 35 would smoke one of these flying coffins from 25 miles out before it's pilot knew he was being shot at. Now about guns being useless...the reason we switched to missiles is because gun simply lack the ability to keep up with a supersonic fighter in a turn. Fighters these days have guns for a "just in case" situation.
tlucentefl 1 year ago
@tlucentefl That's what I said in a previous comment.

@oggybodoggy :D as long as we're in agreement, all is well!
tlucentefl 1 year ago
@tlucentefl Then all is well, but the gun should be able to shot even while the plane is supersonic because of Newtons first law.
oggybodoggy 1 year ago
@tlucentefl
Agility > Stealth.
You should read more why Stealth was created and how useless it is.

@UnKn0wn86 Erm...maybe you should read why stealth was created, and why it isn't useless...?

Khyrid 1 year ago
@Khyrid You know these war video playing punks these days all think anything Russian is better than American !
I am a American living in a FSU Republic so what I see daily is Russian mechanical Junk all day .
Even the newest of Russian bread trucks brake down weekly just delivering the bread !
The most common Russian car the Lada has mechanical issues every other day that leaves the owners stranded on the streets .
These Russian's are like barbarian cave men thrown into time warp year 2010
Moldovawineimporter 1 year ago
@Moldovawineimporter That's been my understanding of them also. It's hard to believe the Israelis used second hand Russian junk to defend against nearly every middle eastern country attacking them at once however. Like most countries with a toleration history I'm willing to bet whatever quality you do find is focused on war machines, but without a diverse industry they still don't compare.
Khyrid 1 year ago
