really great job I miss the 727-100 and 200, flew on them many times, and its great to see Eastern 727s,Eastern was a great airline to bad its gone, but it needs to come back
My first plane flight was on an Eastern Airlines flight out of the same airport in 1982 when I was just 7 years old. Columbia is still a small airport but the airport of this era was completely torn down and rebuilt. The observation patio is long gone. It use to be a thrill to go to the airport and just watch the planes take off and land. I am sure some still do this, even though you can't get to close now. Just imagine what they would have done to the kid running on the tarmac today.
Two things I miss about this beloved industry, the 727 and being able to enjoy air travel. Neither of these exist anymore at any airline. Sure makes going to work to fly a 3 day the dumps.
One important thing you don't see there- Not as much jet exhaust from the jets at that time as there had been in the 1960's, before the EPA decided to clean up the air quality by banning turbojet engines for primary airline propulsion. they switched to cleaner Fan Jets, that left much less black smoke trailing from them :)

Hunter do you recall what airport this is?

Yes, this was filmed at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (South Carolina) when there still existed a small observation patio.

How canyou tell the difference between a 727 and a L1011?
R160A 4 years ago
L1011 is much bigger, but also has 2 of its engines mounted on the wing, 727 has all 3 on the tail and also a t-tail which Tristar doesn't have

Good stuff!
