I'm a woman and I find myself agreeing with this in a way. I think that first, before violence both ways, the victim should try to get away and break it off. If the partner, be it man or woman, is a psycho that won't let you live and beats you up constantly and there's no way around it then defend yourself male or woman.
My uncle's a cop and this guy came in because his wife was hitting him and the cops just laughed at him. He killed her in defense and went to jail. That's screwed up.

Yeah it's mostly due to society at large proclaiming that a man shouldn't ever hit a woman, either because of 'equal right' or the sexist view that 'women are weaker' or any other view you may think of.
This is one large reason why his mother, mentioned earlier, got her husbands life insurance after killing him and was aquitted of the charge of murder. Sure he beat her, but she killed him. Reverse the roles and he'd be in prison.

@PageofLegend Second: Yes, it bothers me. Men are no better than women and the same goes around. Both genders are capable of great good and great evil and it should be recognized as such. Also demanding rights means accepting responsibilities. Actually last semester I had a huge argument with a professor and even made a paper about how women can indeed rape male. A good portion of the class stood behind me, both male and female, and presented examples but by the end she didn't believe me.

But same thing boils me about race, religion and such. This is the second time. I tell her get outta this relationship. He tells not to talk to me anymore and I haven't heard from her since. He defends himself by prying her meathooks off of his neck and shoves her away. She stumbles ten feet, over a sidewalk and a patch of grass, before she falls face first onto the parking lot pavement; and she does not put her hands out in front of her.
