I was born and brought up in an Islamic society, but in a largely secular and open family. Having gone through the Quran and some of the Hadiths, I don't blame the people at all... the poison is very clearly in the texts! Of course one can write off a way of life (please write English) that is seen as comforting but totalitarian and ultimately unable to keep pace with the shifting moral zeitgeist of today.

Yes, the universe is complex. And complexity begs for explanation. Presuming you're a scientist as well, you'll understand that the complexity emerges from the application of fundamental laws that are simple. Postulating an intelligent entity implies massive complexity which by itself needs explanation, especially when you postulate infinite intelligence. It doesn't explain anything and only compounds the problem without having any shred of evidence to back it up or any predictive power either.

The "God in his infinite wisdom" is a phrase used metaphorically in the English speaking world, it does not connote an actual belief in an interested deity, far less the deities of pre-medieval desert religions.

The word "theory" in science is used very differently than it is used by the public. The theory of gravitation or the theory of optics is equivalent to battletested facts. Darwin's theory of evolution through natural selection is another such theory that has been battletested. Modern drug and vaccine production rely on its accuracy. It shut down the scientific and moral progress of the people it infected by the 12th century. Not believing in a god does not mean I am the center of my universe. I don't even believe that this "I" is all that fundamental. "I" am a software construct of the brain that belongs to the universe. Technically, nothing belongs to me. I belong to Everything and am a part of it, not separate from it. You are assuming that the "inevitable reality" described in the Quran is somehow true and that there is a creator. Both are false assumptions. I am a passionate seeker of the truth, and that I devoted my life to since I was 14 or 15. I was born and brought up in an Islamic society, but in a largely secular and open family. Having gone through the Quran and some of the Hadiths, I don't blame the people at all... the poison is very clearly in the texts! Of course one can write off a way of life (please write English) that is seen as comforting but totalitarian and ultimately unable to keep pace with the shifting moral zeitgeist of today.

You can tell me that if I don't believe in the existence of Thor, I will be nailed to a tree in the afterlife and suffer for eternity, and that if I do believe in Thor I will be in paradise. I know a Muslim friend who till date refuses to report being forced upon by her abusive ex-boyfriend because it will "dishonor" her family. SHAME on your culture. No, actually, logical people who are honest about finding out how things work will NOT blindly assume that there is a God, but will try to find out why things are the way they are. That is why you find a larger fraction of atheists among scientists than among the common population. Yes, the universe is complex. And complexity begs for explanation. Presuming you're a scientist as well, you'll understand that the complexity emerges from the application of fundamental laws that are simple. Postulating an intelligent entity implies massive complexity which by itself needs explanation, especially when you postulate infinite intelligence. It doesn't explain anything and only compounds the problem without having any shred of evidence to back it up or any predictive power either.

The word "theory" in science is used very differently than it is used by the public. The theory of gravitation or the theory of optics is equivalent to battletested facts. Darwin's theory of evolution through natural selection is another such theory that has been battletested. Modern drug and vaccine production rely on its accuracy. If you don't believe in the theory of evolution, don't take your next flu shot and don't vaccinate your child.

I am a physicist who studies the origin of the universe for a profession, and currently we have experimental evidence down to 10^-35 seconds after the Big Bang. There are many mind-boggling things that we have now understood about the fundamental nature of space, time, matter and energy, but there is NO evidence of any God, especially that of the Quran or the Old Testament. I don't think assigning a-priori respect for other people's superstitions is a good idea. They all start from zero for me. When I see how unsubstantiated the superstition of Islam is, and how dangerous it is in turning the minds of thousands of children and even adults towards violence, the more PRESSING the need becomes to mock it, to ridicule it, to hold in beneath contempt -- if for nothing else, to spark a vigorous debate in its followers who have often never have been so challenged.

There is nothing good that I know of that came from Islam, except some inspired music, poetry (like this one) and architecture. It shut down the scientific and moral progress of the people it infected by the 12th century. In my own field, I know of only 2 Nobel Laureates in physics who are Muslim -- one of whom got thrown out of Pakistan for holding "heretical views". Contrast that with the contributions from other cultures, like the handful of Jews giving us 189 Nobel Laureates.

What do you mean my Bible? You're right, the Bible is man made too, it was written much before the Quran and people back then knew even less. The idea of heliocentricity wasn't new at all in the 7th century, and neither was the theory of the atom which has its roots with Democritus in ancient Greece. Besides, the Quran is so vague anything can mean anything. If it was specific, it would've given us the inner structure of the atom, but more importantly for humanity -- the germ theory of disease.

The Quran is, page for page, a manifesto for religious intolerance. Just from Al Baqrah, I can give you at least 50 lines... 2:6, 2:10, 2:24, 2:96 (for Jews only), 2:190, 2:221... Look, I can go on and on from the book, Surah after Surah. But that is why the video is here. It is a great expose of Islam.

also, please be aware of the fact that the culture this religion has developed has spawned more terrorists today than scientists. heck, science or any sincere quest for the truth is not valued in islamic society -- that is the reason. why? because muslims believe the truth is already in the quran, so who needs science?
oh sure, they'll use all modern technology from medicines to computers that came from other people's scientific achievements. fucking 15th century parasites of the 21st century.

I'll let you qualify the hypothetical entity. It is not my business to qualify imaginary entities other people believe in and then also do the work of demonstrating why such entities do not exist or are unfalsifiable.
