@SKEMETUBE Not sure if I mentioned it before but ESPN3 is based on your ISP. Cox Communications has the rights to nearly every feature in ESPN3. I'm not sure where the list of providers is but I'm sure there is info at the xbox.com or espn3 site.
I used a Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR with it and the console set to 720p with max bitrate. It is fantastic because it can record and encode live without eating up PC resources and allowing me to play my console as I would without it connected. Worth the money I say. If your primary use is live steaming however I'd get something cheaper unless you have god-tier bandwidth. It is capable of 1080i but it isn't suitable for games.
So, was this just the raw video file, no editing? I actually have the same HDPVR, oddly enough, but my vids never have as good quality as this; however, if you just uploaded the raw file, no editing, then it would explain the quality. :P
I always keep the raw file, for projects I do clean up my work and edit but never at the expense of quality. I run the live encoding process to my 2x2tb external drive.
To be honest I think it depends entirely on your ISP. For example I have Cox Communications. Certain ISPs don't even allow access to ESPN3. Comcast or other regional providers may allow content that I don't see.

Good video. One of the few I found that actually showed off the improved voice quality. Exactly what I was looking for. Can't wait for next week!
