@forestR1 Shotguns patterns are not instant, it takes time for it to spread out. In the distance it traveled before his hitting his hat it would not have spread out much.
Furthermore, rifle recoil is caused by the bullet leaving the barrel whereas shotgun recoil is caused by the detonation of the propellant. The recoil is what saved him, it moved the barrel enough that it didn't shoot him in the face. If it had been a rifle the recoil wouldn't have done anything.

Sure. The reason why the homicide rate of an Australian city is 100 times less than a comparable US city isn't because of strict gun control, but purely dumb luck.
Likewise, our strong banking laws aren't the reason why our booming economy laughed off the GFC when the bankers of Jew York gambled with the entire US economy, lost badly and had good ole boy Dubya "Free Market" Bush and the US taxpayer pick up the tab for a few trillion.

It WOULD be retarded comparing two nations with such differing populations on anything other than a per capita basis. However, both per capita and in direct comparison cities like Sydney still suffer 100 times less gun crime than equivalent US cities like Dallas or San Francisco.
Australia has run the strictest, most successful immigration program on Earth for decades.

Exactly, its STRICT. Australia doesn't have an open border with Mexico nor an entitlement class which feels its owed something due to past events of racism and slavery.

@KiloByte69 yeah but how many people used a gun a means to defend themselves in all of those situations you mentioned, because that's a clue to how many people were not able to defend themselves and thus a net increase in fatalities from gunshot. Really, gun laws is to avoid Port Aurthur massacres not random deaths from gunshot. I am sure you wouldn't want a freak to own a gun. Drug wars are always going to attract such weapons and suicide by gunshot wounds by farmers.

How could they? Guns are illegal so unless they're a criminal they won't have one. The fact of the matter is violence was supposed to go down and it actually went up after the ban. There will always be lunatics and there will always be public attacks, just look at the shootings in Norway/UK or those knife attacks in China/London/etc. And even if you prevent one attack it will not make up for all the other robbiers/rapes/murders which will happen because people cannot defend themselves.
