I am sadly always underwhelmed by Mozart's piano music. It not even nearly uses the piano's potential, and never really seems to gain any kind of passion or emotional development. It's well composed, and it's at times quaint, but considering what came very shortly after his death we can get some perspective on what he was not doing with the instrument.
If I ever write a book about a serial killer...he will be madly obsessed with Mozart and torture his victims to this lovely melody. Iol I have been playing piano for 15 years, and this is among one of my favorite pieces to play.
@summersun213 I am also a skilled writer myself! I am writing something with a Catcher In The Rye feel about my college experiences. :D Which tune will he kill his victims to?
Can you put the violins more to the right? Listen to the 18 mil views version it will be so much better with full surround. Huh you probably won't do it:)
Eventhough I don't study music, this helps me, too: it is very much easier to follow the notes and at the same time hear the music. Without music animation it would be a hopeless combination for me. When this helps me, I can only imagine how much the children can profit. Thank you for the great idea!
This is easily the best tutorial on youtube. I downloaded the sheet and was confused where the right hand goes 'over' the left.. thanks.. Next three days I am going to 'struggle' and play this song.. thanks for this.
@PrawDuhJee It's in 4/4, and those are triplets (the "3" is left out, because it's obvious that there are three notes per quarter, and it just makes it more cluttered).
This piece of music by Mozart is my favorite by far. It moves my mind, my heart, my soul more than any other music I ever heard. I think 'how could such awesomely beautiful music exist', and I am humbled. and I thank smalin for presenting it in such an excellent manner.
E' divertente immaginare il pianista che si prende un caffè nei primi due minuti di esecuzione e poi quando inizia è come se fosse al culmine dell'esecuzione poichè gli altri strumenti sono al seguito del pianoforte :-) Geniale!
smalin: This is really great. I show this to my son who is learning how to play the piano. He's only one, and I think the midi notes and the colors really give him a way to represent and comprehend the notes that he hears. The 3 views really get his attention and I think it's helping him learn. I play it for him every morning. Thanks for doing this. I think you're on to something.
This is simply breathtaking. great job!! :) I just downloaded the piece and am eager to start playing! do you know where I can just get the string audio?
hey. i was looking for one of Mozarts piano concertos. unfortunately, this is not the one im looking for. im looking for Mozarts Piano concerto on C. i know this is very vague, but a different video i saw had those exact words. if you could look at the video and tell me which concerto it is it would be greatly apreciated. the video is Mystery Guitar Man's video called "Teeny Joe Band"
At 4mn 24 the left hand is playing the same than in Beethoven's "Moonlight serenade".. I noticed that too long time ago when it is played by the great Dinu Lipatti...
@Lawrencelovespiano I wish there were a simple answer. I suggest you start a triplet Alberti bass pattern in your left hand, and then improvise against it in your right hand, first with quarter notes, then with eighth notes, then with eighth-note triplets, and then with sixteenths. Fluency in music is like fluency in language: to be really fluent, you've got to be able to improvise. If you can improvise sixteenth-notes against an Alberti bass, you'll have no trouble playing this movement.
This is inspired music, but it's a pity Mozart's other equally beautiful concertos are not as well-known (FWIW my choice would be piano concertos 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, clarinet concerto). I wish these others would be used in films too.
Fantastic, great job, congratulations smalin, this form of presentation with signs encourages us to want to see more and more in order to learn to enjoy these wonders of music from the past (but of all time) today because the culture is in full decay by the massification of tastes.

@assiost how could it possibly be a ripoff if Moonlight sonata was composed way after this xD, with that in mind you could say Moonlight sonata was a ripoff of this concerto o.O!
@faleru Forgive my bad English..I know both works, but today is the first time that this andante appears as for me as a possible inspiration for Moonlight Sonate of LVB. I don't know about musical theory, I'm only a lover of Beethoven and Mozart, between others.
I like this version much better than some of the other...very slow and patient with the flow of melody....truly feels like the waves of the water. One of his most relaxing pieces.
