Take into consideration those times when fuel will just not be there? Hurricanes earthquakes etc. Sure it takes time for power to be restored after a disaster but you will have an ace in the hole with flex power. Some can double that number they will plug in their car at work and get 30 miles a day of all electric from their car this will double their savings. If you install solar at your home your car will run on sunshine for those miles. Solar usually pay for themselves in ~7 years.
365 days a year 15 miles a day all electric we always go somewhere every day and at least 15 miles very least 10 miles. A year that is 5475 miles all electric / 50mpg = 109 gallons a year * $3.10 a gallon =339.45 lets say fuel prices rise a dollar =$446.90 year $1 more $6.10 a gallon 664.90 fuel prices today are not gurarnteed to stay this low this car is insurance you will have some transportation that will be affordable. The cost today is extra $8K might be good insurance policy.
