  • I cannot feel any difference. This tweak Sucks!!!! Delete this video!

  • hiii.....thanks a lot for your video

  • what about 7?

  • same at 0:33

  • thnks 4 all yor vids

  • what happen if i set the value to 0

  • the video not working after 0:45

  • please tell me which screen recorder do you use in this video?

  • @usamatariq80 Camtasia Studio 7

  • Is it safe to do so

    I am just a noob !

  • @fcguners If you arent sure if its safe, just stay the hell away from regedit. This guy is legit, but regedit isnt something to experiment with

  • @UpgradedWorld I think i can make a copy of regedit before fucking it up lol

  • I do not have that key (OS is server 2008 R2 foundation and is x64 as there is on x86 for server 2008 R2)Should I create that key?

  • I don't have it so I don't have to fiddle around.

  • Yea I have a question, why isnt it working. The startup was the same time. I changed the value and double checked to make sure it was in effect and it says 40,000 but same speed ftw?

  • thanks alot..

  • This is bogus. That value controls how long windows delays before the Indexing Service starts scanning your system. It will make absolutely no difference in how fast your system starts up (except to possibly make it slower). It is set to 480000 by default, which is 8 minutes. Does your computer take 8 minutes to startup? I didn't think so.

  • @MuhammadTMustafa You should really not do this with windows 7 components you might not be able to start your computer again trust me!

  • Came from someone who can't spell "Whiz Kid" right.

  • brilliant

  • @salrun07 It would be brilliant if you learn how to use correct grammar and punctuation right before you put up a comment.

  • @armandornd who you are ? the grammar teacher ????JUST MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS>>>>

what done is what matters ....not how ......idiot ........

  • @salrun07 Learn how to use correct grammar and punctuation right before you send somebody a comment idiot.

  • Thanks!

  • omg i fixed it -_-

i was so freaking scared it would never turn on again XD

  • @CuddlesThePinkCat What happened?

  • OMG MY COMPUTER WONT TURN ON!!! HELP!!!!!!! i have ALOT of stuff on that computer :O

  • And in x64 pro it works with 10.No joke it works

  • Ive had windows xp sp2 pro and i put 10 in and it booted so fast(virtual machine)

  • Hey, your videos are good but can you kindof tell us what we are actually doing? I dont want to screw up my system.....

  • can u help me out plz man my dad blocked a computer game on the fast laptop called runescape so now i have to use the old computer windows xp ..do u think their is a way to make it run without barly lagging or just a little lagg with out taking apart the computer thanks man

  • @TheSpoofee

You can try getting Google Chrome, Ccleaner, and try going to control+alt+delete, then click your browser page and select gotoprocess. right click the process and select high, not realtime it will crash ur computer.

You ccan also do the same thing except click for a process caled java.exe or something like that and set it to high. Plus try to keep only one page up with no tabs. And set your runescape graphics and stuff really low.

  • @TheSpoofee LOL, lag on runescape? how do you lag so much on runescape?

  • i put 390000

  • 480000

  • What if I put 0 for the boot delay?

  • @MrSpidercat3 better not try it. dunno what will happen, but better safe than sorry :)

  • now i watched man you are a genuis( i dont know how to spell that i am primary school) ow did you find that out and are you able to to decrease that even lower???please answer thanks!

  • when i watch this i feel like eatin' crisps...cool i've got zune too is real nice xD didn't watch video was too busy eatin'crisps...

  • Wait... what? That doesn't really make sense, why would Microsoft delay Windows' start up time on purpose? Sounds suspiscious... are you sure this won't influence the way the system works?

  • wait, so the reason why windows XP take ages to load is because microsoft made a delay registry file!?

    wtf microsoft....

i bet the reason why windows 7 has a faster boot-up time than windows XP is because they changed this registry file...

so they basically take our cash for a stupid thing that we can do on our own?! wtf!!!

wait so what will happen if i change the decimal to 40?

my computer will boot in 1 second? :O

  • did nowt for me!

  • Why not just disable the index service all together?

    msdn (dot) microsoft (dot) com/en-us/library/ms692127(v=vs.85).aspx

    Start > Run > msconfig.exe > Services > Uncheck Indexing Service

Not 100% sure if they are related but that link sure makes it seem like they are.

  • Makes no difference in the boot/load time, but makes the login screen go away faster.

  • What does this on the technical side?

  • If it really increases startup times, why does Windows XP ship with the value of 480,000?

  • @tanmaxi Im guesssing they put the value that high is so the computer has time to "warm-up" and not fli out on u

  • Windows seven explaination?

  • Thank you!

  • Helpful

  • is the background music from kingdom under fire? I'm 80% sure it is... do i win!? :D

  • Thank you!! :)

  • what if I put 0?

  • @ELEMONTZ

If you put 0 I am sure, there will be problems,

It might not start up or might not start up completely, or might not even start up at all!

  • Use Advanced System Care or Toolbox and clean your computer its a really good cleaner my computer has been fast for a year because every week i clean my computer

  • @jhonkunify I use Avanced System Care too, it´s a wonderful prgram that speed up the cumputer. The best with it is : It actually makes your computer faster, and it´s free! :D

  • It really works, thanks man for all the tutorials you've made for Windows XP!

  • Thank you :)

  • nice videos ty

  • Video guide that shows you how you can speedup your pc and be safe from virus etc. Go at futuremerchantise dot in

  • I truly think that your videos are the BEST. My computer is SO much better thanks to you. So once again, THANK YOU!

  • it didnt work

  • i showed a BOOT UP my ass but it didnt work...

  • @LRMANIA Lol

  • hay i found this atapi.exe file on my xp and a website is saying its a trojan i found it in my dell file in shared documents

  • @darknessthehedgehog3 get rid of it i had it before left it on and it wiped out my harddrive

  • That's about Content Index - not the actual bootup time for Windows.

  • o make pc run more fast i had used reg in out registry cleaner it works for me very gud

  • can i type something smaller than 40000?

  • very very nice

  • Would it hurt my computer if I changed that to 0?

  • @JDTV1995 nope i just done it and i've noticed already that its faster

  • @JDTV1995 yea it will, I did it once, and I had to wait 15-20 min, so don´t do it

  • @JDTV1995 idk can you divide by 0

  • its so long its better to boot pc munally

  • This registry edit controls how long your system will wait to start the indexing service. You are much better off just disabling the indexing service. Also reducing this value will start indexing closer to your system boot, the current value is 8 min after boot so this is kind of a bad idea (if you over do it). If you want to speed up your boot try bootvis from Microsoft, it shaves off about 2-3 seconds on a new build.

  • @JTH2993 ok

  • I really would not mess with the factory settings people but still great video.

  • @yellowcorba1 I WOULD I WOULD =D

  • ill test it.

  • ty, i got it faster now to

  • I wouldn't do that.So risky and no use with modern PC. My XP boots around 1m15s with all programs including antivir.

  • @cortkatanakx1q, what's risky and what's no use? It makes approx 20-30% difference in boot time. 1m15... what hardware do you have?

  • @NordicAssKickR Just cheap pentium e6600 dual core, 4gb ram and win xp sp3.

  • What is the lowest value you would use?

  • I HAVE TRIED EVERY METHOD AND I 'VE MANAGED A 10-20 SEC SHUTDOWN BUT MY BOOT UP IS 2-3 MINUTES AND I DON'T HAVE SO MANY PROGRAMS...

    PLEASE HELP!

  • @lampismania 2-3 mins sounds about right

  • @mandai2, not if it is XP.

  • @NordicAssKickR I'm talking about a machine with typical specs

  • DONT DO THIS IF YOU EDIT THE REGISTRY YOU MAY DAMAGE THE SYSTEM!

  • @glory122 Nah that only happens if you make a mistake. Trust PCWizKid.

  • @glory122 Your an idiot. You never heard of a "backup"?

  • 10-30 seconds... why that matters?

  • congratulations, you made fun from 263,622+ viewers ;-)

  • Nice tweak but u can use reginout regcleaner with amazing features like browser cleaner registry defragment and manage startup it will make ur computer more faster

  • @sunnyrepairs the cache cleaner and defragment and choosing less startup progs and doing what's in this video and cleaning the registry and disabling visual effects like shadows will do da job

  • does this work for windows 7?

  • how did u chage starup colour

  • dude what is the lowest value ?

  • @Vgeorge7 it's 0 i thing and also i thing it will mess up your comp

  • can i put it one 1? will it start faster?

  • @kKassasinKk You will get the BSOD

  • @Crashbndcoot121 only if you do it wrong

i got my old pc faster when i did it.

the bsod is not a problem for me

  • an u hard uze this is 20% noob lol:||

  • Five to ten seconds "fewer", not less.

  • what the hell is this?

the sound on my computer was five times higher after I did it, now I get a headache if I press the enter button, etc.

  • Use negative numbers... so the system boots BEFORE you press the button !!!

  • wow ty man keep up the good work...

  • whats the lowest number you can use?

  • @linkhunter1 yes whats the lowest number??

  • i never tweeked my computer and it is VERY fast

  • Bill Gates new edition of windows signature edition check it out /watch?v=bp-EHe7Tjho

  • Unfortunately it did nothing for me. I did this tweak and the other with multicore in msconfig. My boot up time was 10 seconds before the tweak, and 9-10 seconds after. At least it's good to begin with and my SSD helped a lot. I don't have a slow bootup, but I just wished it would have made it even faster, lol

  • Will this work with windows 7?

  • where can i get some kool backrounds?

  • @MrKinkykent photobucket and type backgrounds after a picture u want...like type ninja background ect...

  • I don't see how this can improve speed at all. This value only affects *when* the index service starts. So it may actually cause the machine to take longer since it would force the index service to start sooner. It would be better to just disable/delete the index service, and I might try deleting the entire ContentIndex key.

  • do u no computers? i need help with windows xp so i'v been clicking random vids off ppl who look like they no computers. do u? if u do, i have a black screen problem on winsXP.

  • @danieldvs100 do you get any error details?

  • @danieldvs100 well if you have a black screen you could have a blown blacklight (the light that brightens your monitor)

or a virus my sisters vista computer does that and i believe its a virus for hers because every once in a while it will boot up correctly and now nothing

  • what if i put 0???????

  • @theringfilm1

    Blue Screen....

  • Doesnt work with 7... wonder if there is a way... hmmmm

  • I have a dell P4 512Mb with a Geforce 9400 gt Pci -e Not the best computer out there I wanted to free up some memory and get some speed ..I changed my settings from i think it was 600 to 1134 min and max (commit) is now Toatal 361388, Limit 1650148 and peak 361680 seems faster So thank you

  • @freakyflow - You've got an averagely serious video card, but your ram amount is a joke. 512 is the sort of thing you'd get in the early 2000'-2002s.

  • @Krisando yup its old and im not going to spend 300 dollars on a pro video card on a old $300 computer Computers aren't my sorta thing However my 67' mustang is lol I know i gotta grab 1 gig

  • Question ; can i put this value to 1 or maybe 0?

Second question ; why is this value there anyway?

  • @EdJjuh You could put either but you won't gain any speed. This value is used to control the delay before the file indexing service runs.

  • great tweak,

but i might'v eread somewhere that if for example, you use certain pci cards that need initialization, maybe a sata controller, they dont get enough time to configure and start-up properly -> trouble

  • this method works only at Winxp

  • The question is; why is that value so high in the first place?

  • @TheKlink Because performance would be improved by starting the indexing service after windows has finished loading.

  • if u prove it works then il be impressed

  • Can i Trust This method..?

im quite sure it wont fail becuase im a XP user.

  • Thank you for your help

  • can i set the value below 40000?

  • never mind i found the solution to it.

  • i have nothing in content index please someone help me?

  • It wont go into regedit, please help PCwizkid!!

  • Hey this won't actually improve boot time, it just lowers the delay for the Indexing service before it starts work.

In fact having the indexer working while your system is still starting up will worsen startup time because of the increased disk activity.

  • @lawrencejob1 Its meant to control when the Indexing service starts work.

Its intentional to actually improve startup performance and run the indexer when you are less likely to need disk access.

  • mac background is gay

  • Im on Window 7 And when i click ContentIndex it says Default on the right side,,

  • happens to me 2 i also have win7

  • Thanks !

  • nice

  • thanks your videos kick ass keep em comin

  • effective!!

  • Cool vid i have a problem with my computer when i try to do a system repair it say that that it cant be preformed because the file is cerrupt or not installed propaly help me please

  • this will cut life on your machine, i recommend leaving it at the default manufacturer settings... it overrides the processor speed at said in the previous comment..

  • @xHDTV1x Hey this doesen't directly affect processor speed

  • @xHDTV1x i agree. this is like running while your legs are sore. You wont go far. Leave it up to the default manufacture setting because it is set to your computers ideal start up time

  • didnt wizkids go out of bus lol

  • will this work on vista

  • Dude, you are so awesome at computers. All of my friends think it's amazing that I know all of these computer tricks. The main question is is that do you just spend hours on the computer trying to figure these things out or do you use some sort of manual? Can you reply back with an answer?

  • Good except I can't find that index thing :s help !! Anyone

  • why not change to zero ? why any delay at all

  • without any delay your computer would probably overide the system causing it to crash!

    hope this helped

    lolss

    thanks
