I would suggest you need to drop at least £400 on a PC for it not to be false economy.

You spend 250, you will be replacing parts so often, you may as well forked out the money in the first place.

For god sakes man, upgrade your memory and video card at least! I upgraded my Memory RAM a long time ago from 1GB to 3GB, and i upgraded my video card from an ATI Radeon X300 to an ATI Radeon X1300, but that was in 2008, now i am upgrading my power supply to 600 watts, and buying a brand new Nvidia EVGA GTX 360, and i will still have my old pentium 4, theres nothing wrong with it! 3.2 GHz is great!

The only thing the xp dx10 patch does is lie about the version being used, but is actually using all dx9 calls and functions, so the real speed/visual quality benefit you would gain from dx10 is not even present. Just run in dx9...
