I also have a Squier fretless just like yours, I love the super fast neck and the lovely tone, only problem is my other basses are active and I had forgotten how annoying the single coil hum from a passive bass can be. Have you found a way around this or - like me - have you learned to just ignore it? Maybe I'll insert a preamp and see what happens.
jamerson, how flexible would you say the Squire Fretlesses are, for other types of music? I play in what you'd call a stoner rock band (think Kyuss), but we bring in a lot of blues licks, and some pretty funky little bass hooks for the slower stuff.
Was considering turning to a Fretless for those moments, before heading back fretted for the balls-to-the-wall stuff. That seemed reasonably sound on the basis of other feedback, but wondering on your thoughts.
Jamersonshook: First things fist, your performance AND your tone are awesome!!!!, I've heard a lot of people playing fretless bass, but yours is incredible!, could you tell me what kind of effect are you using in this particular video?, it seems its like a Chorus but it is a bit different, like a slow modulation, I've heard it beffore but could never identify the specific effect. I hope you can spend a minute to answer my question. Keep making awesome videos like this!!!!
pino palladino is the SHIT!!!! he did paul youngs no parlez album in 85 "come back and stay...if you go away....he also played don henlys sunset grill..i may be getting this bass tommrow...
Nice(& cheap) fretless;I used to have the same one but had to sell it cause I didn't use it enough to keep it :( I only had to change the strings & it sounded really great...(for a 400 euros instrument ;)
I've never heard this song, but I love the bass & it complements the tune very well. I'm interested in playing fretless although I haven't any experience with it aside from testing at the guitar shop. You make some of the best videos on YT.
I have that same bass and use it extensively. Don't worry about the fretboard wearing out. It is made out of Ebonal, a hard durable plastic. After a year of very heavy use with round wounds my fretboard has only a few scratches. It is much more durable than any wood could be.
That bass sounds lovely I quite fancy a fretless myself now;)

soft maple has deep lows and brilliant highs but sounds rather dead in the middle.
