  • Remember them at the Elks Club in Montgomery, Alabama in 1966 when they were just getting started.

  • @lkn4bling I"m from Montgomery, Al & I remember this band very well. It was more like 1963-64. Bob Moore had a record shop @ the corner of High & Jackson St. I grew up in Victor Tulane Courts (the projects) & walked pass the record shop on the way to school. Bob's son, Larry Moore played the saxaphone in this band while in high school. They also played other clubs called the Afro Club,(top floor of the Ben Moore Hotel) Lacois, and The Tiljuanana. The Ben Moore Hotel was on the same corner.

  • @DaddySweet100 hey thanks for the history , good info, this is such a soulful piece, it captures the picalo jookin days in the black community( and we did jook!) back during a time when folks were listenin & groovin to our music, while holdin a gun to our head in one hand, & a noose in the other!

  • oh great here we go with the race crap again. hey guys im 18 year old white man and can respect white, black, mexican, and if a hippopotamus wanted to make a song i'd give it a shot and listen to it. good music is good music simple as that. i was born in the 90s but i like to flip that 9 and say i grew up in the 60s.

  • @KyplayaZ4lyfe I agree with you. It's just about the music. not our color.

  • I never get tired of hearing this great song.

  • compton in the 60sYEAH

  • @kimbadancingbear I grew up in Watts in the '60's and '70's. Things has changed so much.

  • @ekocentric yeah nothing is even the same i remember the Compton Sears and the roasted nut smell i also remember the riots and how devastating they were

  • @kimbadancingbear We lived on 77th and Central on August 1965 when the first riots hit. We didn't all loot (I was 6) and the national guardsmen weren't all trying to kill us...I think that a lot of us were caught up in something that we didn't understand.

Anyway, it's over and a lot of people moved on to do great things. Flowers can spring up from S--- (fertilizer). Lol

  • MrFrostel: Their retirement plan is welfare, standing at intersections with a sign asking for the public's sympathy, digging through the recycle bin before the truck comes. Lots to look forward to, if they make it that far...

  • you had to tag this song with your gang shit! Grow the fuck up! i wonder what great retirement plan your gang is giving or for that matter health insurance. You stupid disgrace to the latino race!

  • @PANIKIADO12

Perhaps some of those Individuals lack a sense of cultural guidance in this world! I knew several "Native American Indian" Chicanos in my neighborhood and they loved listening these types of oldies! They and me never once thought about the songs in terms of "race" or "social class" or "Western European 'white' influence" and the implications of living a Gangster life or Cholo life style, etc. We were just searching for "ourselves" and place in our neighborhoods! I still like them.

  • This song automatically makes me happy! I just picture the bomb guy from blood in blood out going up to the girl with this song. SO awsome
