@darkdragonballs i honestly don't think he has one. BUT maybe, to make his own heart pure darkness, he performed the technique he used to create vanitas on himself, banishing the light from heart instead of the darkness

As shown in the trailer, because he is someone connected to someone connected to other people in the heart, and Xeanort's heartless and Xemnas, along with others like... Ansem as DIZ? Roxas hated that guy.
Supposedly, by this theory he would be this games main villan (Anti hero?) and would try to escape the world of dreams, and somehow gain time travel powers to go back in time and learn the powers of light as well of darkness, which would explain his encounter in BBS.
Except this guy doesn't have other themes in this music. The theory of master Xeanort's nobody makes sense. Except, when I remember that Xeanort transfered his heart, meaning there would be no will left inside his original boddy- it would not have the will left to become a nobody he's now in Terra.
It's highly possible that the unknown is simply a dream- a manifestation of Sora and Riku's fears in the dream, a younger and stronger Xeanort. He would also bring characters like Vanitas.

I dont think unknown is 'Young Xenanort' shown in the recent trailer for 3D. Actually, I think he is but I dont think he is master Xeanort's noboddy.
My doubts started when I heard this music. It completely different to anything heard in the series thus far. Usually, themes in KH are linked, such as Xion's boss theme, which had sprinklings of other themes such as Kari's.
I used to think this guy was ansem a time traveling ansem as a warrior, I had a lot of proof for that back then, but now that Nomura has confirmed he's a villain type character... thats out of the window
hmm, maybe he's a 3rd aspect of a person, like the heartless and nobodies, perhaps he's the missing third of that.

@fox2193 The only big problem with this boss imo is his unique grip skill. Each time you get hooked you get less time to try to get out of it and eventually die. It starts at 5sec and you need at most 3 sec to get out and every time you get hooked time lessens by 1sec. After that there is the bug when he sends you flying into the air and kills you because the game consider it a two-combo instead of one.

sence i can't find the guy that replyed to my coment i'll just say it and hope he see's it: The darkness holds many mysteryes. DiZ could have gotten blown back in time first then put in the Relm of darkness. Also would explain how he is able to meet Aqua even tough KH and KH2 took place 11 years after BBS.
aqua was just there that long (she must have been bored), and they met after the machine blew up. Ansem just went to the Realm of Darkness (if u knew that then ime not try to be a know it all, lol)

@sydmanone Hey, just so you know, that ending took place after Sora got the keyblade, which is why he said "With keyblade in hand...", and when Aqua asked if it was Terra or Ven, he told her it was Sora.
"Everywhere he goes people of darkness turn up". Maybe he is a person who is supposed to bring equilibrium, so he creates darkness. But the darkness he creates may be too much, so much, light has to fight, only to end up in darkness again. So he may not be an 'evil' being, but like death itself misunderstood as something or someone evil.
Vanitas and other people of darkness showing up where he goes could be a result of the actions caused by the old MX, using the young MX as some sort of "vessel" to send the lost hearts of darkness to. If that's true, the old MX's heart would be trapped inside the young ones.
But then the true question would not be where or who Xehanort is now...
The question is: what happened to Terra? With which heart did Terra's body truly rejoin?
So now it's clear he's the a young form of Xehanort. and if what @gagejoseph91 said is right, he has to play a neutral role. ...So what if he isn't exactly a bad guy? I'm starting to think this younger form isn't a "bad guy". That this young Xehanort we see in the DDD-Jump Festa Trailer isn't the old MX we know from Birth by Sleep. That they're not the same people. Maybe he's the true Xehanort and the old one was just stealing his name?
Here's my theory on who the Mysterious Figure is. You see, Apprentice Xehanort is technically two people, Master Xehanrot and Terra. So when Terranort became a Heartless, it created "Ansem" and Xemnas. But what if it created another Nobody other than Xemnas? One Nobody for each heart in the body of Terranort. Similar to how both Namine and Roxas were created from Sora becoming a Heartless, because Sora also had Kairi's heart in him. So I think the MF is another Nobody created from Terranort.
Here's my guess as to MF's identity. It is Master Xehanort's nobody. When spoilers, Master xehanort possessed Terra it was similar to when Sora sacrificed himself, the whole stabbing himself with a keyblade to release his heart. That created Roxas. Xemnas was really Terra's nobody and master xehanort body had to go somewhere.

@Voxeril Not necessarily Young Xehanort himself, but indeed the same character who appeared througout the various worlds in the new Famitsu screenshots, as confirmed by Nomura. This character apparently leaves darkness in their wake, such as Vanitas But we still don't know if this guy and Young Xehanort are one and the same...though I admit it's starting to look a bit more likely.
Disney and Square Enix should be proud. They've just created prehaps the most badassed character to ever grace the surface of any of their games, and I hardly doubt that they will top it. The music, the lack of a voice, and the whole "running in terror so I don't get brutally raped" conveys the Mysterious Figure/Unknown so well, that all the creators, producers, music directors, musicians, and everyone else should stand up, congratulate themselves, and sit back down in a comfy chair.
O_O at 1:38 - 2:00, you can just faintly make out / hear Xehanort yelling HERE!, as if a battle cry, you have to listen very closely, but believe me, it's their.
After seeing some theories and adding them to my own; I'd say that MF may be a part of Eraqus with the red=evil/blue=good thing. But if MF was Eraqus' Nobody then how could he time travel? Pretty much every theory I've read could very well be right. And I think that it could also be a neutral, and very powerful being from the Realm of Sleep seeing as how that realm exists beyond time. That factor could let MF bend time at will. Square-Enix may be throwing curve balls at us w/the whole "seen 2x."

I can't identify any similarities between this song and others, this one's too distinct.
Except for the piano, which sounds rather identical to the one playing in Lord of the Castle. I'm not going to make assumptions, but Marluxia was a pretty powerful Nobody and Birth by Sleep took place before he became one.
If you watch the new trailer for DDD they show a young master Xehanort so theres a high chance that maybe perhaps this IS xehanort but of course as a younger person.....
Think about it....I have a humble guess that it could be Ventus himself after or during the events of KH3 (in theory), of course if the evnts lead to Ven's heart returning to his body and learning time travel after many years, thus returning to The Land of Departure and his canonical link to Aqua, Terra, AND Ventus. Only a theory/guess though.

I agree with u on ur time-travel theory because A) when you fight him he sometimes turns back time to heal himself and B) that's the only way he could have so many connections with Xemnas, who technically does not exist at this point
KH:FM = Xehanort. KH2:FM = "The Enigmatic Soldier" (aka Terra). with references to the antagonist then a protagonist, i doubt Square Enix, knowing them, would do a repeat performance and give MF an allignment to Good or Evil, and given the meaning of the songs name "Dark Impetus" where "Impetus" is defined as "a moving force" especially when giving the cause of movement (physically or idealistically), i can assume MF may be a neutrally-alligned, or unaware, "force" that may have affected pre-BBS

But he has two red ethreal blades, negative electricity energy ball thingy, lasers, and his melee is similar to when you fight Xemnas with the org suit (i think data Xemnas) the first time.

Xehanort is the "origin" of all his counterparts, including Xemnas. so yes, it is Xemnas, but i said "Xehanort" because hes the "derivative" or "main form" which is why i added "aka Terra" after the title he was known as at the time "The Enigmatic Soldier"

@gagejoseph91 Actually no going off your logic, if you depict "Dark Impetus" that would imply that the MF is evil aligned dark impetus translate to dark driving force. Which would suggest that the MF is driven by darkness. Also Ansem the Wise was never evil , he was probably the most neutral character in the entire series. He only studied the heart and figured the most effective ways to protect against darkness. Never did he use his research for evil.

"terras body" was fought, but being controlled by xehanort. the "other" name for TES is "Terras Lingering Spirit" which is his armor, who you fight AS vs terranort

i dont think he can be anything connected to Terranort cuz Terra is able to fight him. with the secret boss in khfm, that added to the story. @AustinDanielKitchens good theory, but Terra's body was taken so no Nobody could be made. Namine was made at the same time as Roxas because Kairi was inside Sora and that was when Sora didnt have a body at the time (cuz he was a heartless). Xemnas was made at the same time as the other founding members of Organization 13 so he couldnt have been made then

Wait....Tetsuya Nomura said that the mysterious figure is a character we saw exactly two times in BBS.....and parts of this sound similar to rage awakened...two...plus rage awakened. we see the lingering sentiment in the cutscene before the battle, and the cutscene after it. that means that the mysterious figure must be terra's Mind/soul

Besides if you were able to get a good glimpse at Mysterious Figure's legs past the coat, you'll see that they're baggy and idinticle to Xehanort's.

If that logic was correct, it could also be Ven-Vanitas. If what you said about Tetsuya Nomura saying that it's a character we saw two times in the game, it's probably young Xehanort. In the beginning, we saw young Xehanort in Destiny Islands and we also saw his image when Terra met young Riku. Not to mention the coat

But the darkness he creates may be too much, so much, light has to fight, only to end up in darkness again. Vanitas and other people of darkness showing up where he goes could be a result of the actions caused by the old MX, using the young MX as some sort of "vessel" to send the lost hearts of darkness to. If that's true, the old MX's heart would be trapped inside the young ones.
But then the true question would not be where or who Xehanort is now...
The question is: what happened to Terra? With which heart did Terra's body truly rejoin?

So now it's clear he's the a young form of Xehanort. and if what @gagejoseph91 said is right, he has to play a neutral role. ...So what if he isn't exactly a bad guy? I'm starting to think this younger form isn't a "bad guy". That this young Xehanort we see in the DDD-Jump Festa Trailer isn't the old MX we know from Birth by Sleep. That they're not the same people. Maybe he's the true Xehanort and the old one was just stealing his name?

Here's my theory on who the Mysterious Figure is. You see, Apprentice Xehanort is technically two people, Master Xehanrot and Terra. So when Terranort became a Heartless, it created "Ansem" and Xemnas. But what if it created another Nobody other than Xemnas? One Nobody for each heart in the body of Terranort. Similar to how both Namine and Roxas were created from Sora becoming a Heartless, because Sora also had Kairi's heart in him. So I think the MF is another Nobody created from Terranort.

Here's my guess as to MF's identity. It is Master Xehanort's nobody. When spoilers, Master xehanort possessed Terra it was similar to when Sora sacrificed himself, the whole stabbing himself with a keyblade to release his heart. That created Roxas. Xemnas was really Terra's nobody and master xehanort body had to go somewhere.

Disney and Square Enix should be proud. They've just created prehaps the most badassed character to ever grace the surface of any of their games, and I hardly doubt that they will top it. The music, the lack of a voice, and the whole "running in terror so I don't get brutally raped" conveys the Mysterious Figure/Unknown so well, that all the creators, producers, music directors, musicians, and everyone else should stand up, congratulate themselves, and sit back down in a comfy chair.

After seeing some theories and adding them to my own; I'd say that MF may be a part of Eraqus with the red=evil/blue=good thing. But if MF was Eraqus' Nobody then how could he time travel? Pretty much every theory I've read could very well be right. And I think that it could also be a neutral, and very powerful being from the Realm of Sleep seeing as how that realm exists beyond time. That factor could let MF bend time at will. Square-Enix may be throwing curve balls at us w/the whole "seen 2x."

I can't identify any similarities between this song and others, this one's too distinct.
Except for the piano, which sounds rather identical to the one playing in Lord of the Castle. I'm not going to make assumptions, but Marluxia was a pretty powerful Nobody and Birth by Sleep took place before he became one.

Think about it....I have a humble guess that it could be Ventus himself after or during the events of KH3 (in theory), of course if the evnts lead to Ven's heart returning to his body and learning time travel after many years, thus returning to The Land of Departure and his canonical link to Aqua, Terra, AND Ventus. KH2:FM = "The Enigmatic Soldier" (aka Terra). with references to the antagonist then a protagonist, i doubt Square Enix, knowing them, would do a repeat performance and give MF an allignment to Good or Evil, and given the meaning of the songs name "Dark Impetus" where "Impetus" is defined as "a moving force" especially when giving the cause of movement (physically or idealistically), i can assume MF may be a neutrally-alligned, or unaware, "force" that may have affected pre-BBS

Xehanort is the "origin" of all his counterparts, including Xemnas. so yes, it is Xemnas, but i said "Xehanort" because hes the "derivative" or "main form" which is why i added "aka Terra" after the title he was known as at the time "The Enigmatic Soldier"

Which would suggest that the MF is driven by darkness. Also Ansem the Wise was never evil , he was probably the most neutral character in the entire series. He only studied the heart and figured the most effective ways to protect against darkness. Never did he use his research for evil.

i dont think he can be anything connected to Terranort cuz Terra is able to fight him. with the secret boss in khfm, that added to the story. @AustinDanielKitchens good theory, but Terra's body was taken so no Nobody could be made. Namine was made at the same time as Roxas because Kairi was inside Sora and that was when Sora didnt have a body at the time (cuz he was a heartless). Xemnas was made at the same time as the other founding members of Organization 13 so he couldnt have been made then

Wait....Tetsuya Nomura said that the mysterious figure is a character we saw exactly two times in BBS.....and parts of this sound similar to rage awakened...two...plus rage awakened. we see the lingering sentiment in the cutscene before the battle, and the cutscene after it. that means that the mysterious figure must be terra's Mind/soul

Besides if you were able to get a good glimpse at Mysterious Figure's legs past the coat, you'll see that they're baggy and idinticle to Xehanort's.
