Lianto, this masterpiece is so rich with so many intricate details making your fingers move into hard to reach areas whereby you have to move very quickly & decisively to make the music flow continuously . I am very impressed and amazed at what the guitar can actually produce through this music. Moreover, there are very rare & exceptionally talented person like you who can execute this music flawlessly. BRAVO BRAVO !!
All of those microphones must have picked that up nicely, but I'm pretty sure we're hearing the recording of low quality video camera. I wish I could hear the what the mics made of his incredible playing!
Outstanding playing and feel. I think Paganini inspired a lot of other musicians. He seemed to be the 'bad boy' rocker of the 1700's, touring, gambling, and raising hell. But what a composer...
Don't be such an ignorant man! Have you heard the original version?? By the way, it is in violin, and it is one of the most difficult pieces in the World, a truly masterpiece... Of course, as I can see you don't even know who is Nicoló Paganini... This is his Caprice Nº 5 - Agitato... I suggest you to listen it to then you can criticize... If you think you can even do it, then you can talk.
@alapunk13 I'm a classical guitarist, please (just in case; I know you didn't) don't make any assumptions. This is a ridiculous piece for the guitar, and it is so rarely played well. I have yet to see this piece played well with musicality, haha.
no one is being ignorant by expressing an opinion, and in this case a justified critical judgement. This is bloody awful, any one who thinks otherwise is probably an electric guitarist.
@Raistilus: Well, it's one of Paganini's 24 etudes. Paganini + etude = technicality. If you're looking for musicality go dig up some Chopin, Rachmaninoff or that oh-so-famous Chaconne. for which you must know is one of the hardest pieces for a violin as well both technically and musically. He said the guy has technique which means it's perfect for Paganini. The original version is not "in" violin. It was composed for violin. Where the **** did you learn your English?
@alapunk13 i heard that paganini composed certain caprices e.g this one the the intent to show off technique on the violin, and the music is to be listened to, appreciated and discussed so its not suppost to be catchy or anything like that :)
Because Paganini was a guitarist virtuoso too and he usually played both instrument in concert instead he composed many sonata for guitar and concert for guitar and violin, and I suggest you to watch other people playing this like Li Jie. And on guitar is possible add more bass that help the melody line.
And try to listen the gran sonata per chitarra sola (the great sonata for solo guitar) by Paganini played by the great Aniello Desiderio.

Ok before anything this is far more dificult to play in acoustic than in electric but I prefer the electric guitar version better but my respect to the man playing.
Pak Lianto, remember me? I used to learn classic guitar from you in 2003, but could not continue because I had to move to Bandung. I've still got 3 cds from you. I'll be visiting Bali this December, do you have any other cd? are you still in primagraha?

A slightly slower version, but in my opinion far more musical; search for Jakob Henriques Caprice No. 5 if you enjoy this.
