  • The strip isn't were the Ford GT shines... I love all Fords, but try to go out and do 200mph, and whoop some ass on a road course like the Ford GT with the Mustang. Regardless that 5.0 is freakin awesome. I've had 5 of them ranging from a 4 cylinder auto 'Vert on up to an 11 sec. 1993 5.0 Coupe.

I abhor when posters obfuscate car vids w/ music, that might be in itself enjoyable to some. However, it is poorly executed in this instance. It should be at the very least toned down to a tolerable level so as not to inundate the ominous resonance of the iconic American V8. I choose the V8 over the screaming banter of a misfit.

  • That is pretty funny...they did both red light. And sure, road course racing is fun and difficult, but lets not be too quick to knock on going fast in a straight line. Of course you don't know the thrill when you roll in a 16 second Hon-duh vtaaak...but i've been in a ten second Cobra, and not only is it hard to keep that kinda power on the track, even straight, and it's a real adrenaline rush banging gears with 700 hp at your hands and feet.

But the point is you could modify any machine even 1930's hot rod to blow the doors off that 1990 mustang it doesn't matter if you can put money into it, it will go. Now try to sell the Mustang for how much money you actually put into the car... Sell a Ford GT someone will buy it.

  • Can american manufactuers actually make cars that handle? Or are you all obsessed with guzzling gas and racing in a straight line? Its not exactly skillfull to bolt on some off the shelf modifications and race on a 1/4 mile. If you tried to race those yank tin cans on a track in europe you would be out handled by much smaller engined cars. There maybe no substitute for cubic inches - but only in a straight line, and thats just too easy, No skill.

  • Mine is a 5 speed, and I like grabbing gears! Which does take more skill in putting it on the 2-step, dumping the clutch, and hitting the gears at the precise moment they need to be. ;) And it's very apparent that you've never driven a high HP car on slicks in a 1/4 mile. The acceleration is awesome. The auto cars can also be a handful and take skill to keep from wadding them up. To each his own. I don't bag on the guys that like to sling them around the turns. I'm sure that's fun to.

It sure woue would be funny watching this road race ass clowns try in make a 10.50 pass in a whipple 03 cobra. That would be comedy, they would probly run 13.00 with 650 to tires.   • ...Why would "europe" want to? In Europe they make cars handle and perform well instead of just tuning for straight line speed, thats too easy and boring. Making a car handle and perform round a track or over rough terrain is more of a challenge.

  • Guarantee that stang has upgraded heads, cam, intake and exhaust. The bottom end may be stock, but the top end is modified. I have an 89, stock bottom end, Twisted Wedge heads, Jay Allen custom cam, 4.10 gears, 2-1/2" Flowmaster exhaust with an off road X-pipe, 275/40/15 drag radials, AOD with a 3300 converter, and I run 12.80s on motor. No stock Fox body stang will run 11's with just a 100 shot.

    3.73 gears, mickey thompson drag radials,

  • Why lie? My buddy had a notch with an e cam,all the bolt ons 373s and a 100 shot.He ran 13.2.I go to the track every week,the basic bolt on fox with a paxton was running 12.9-13.1.Come on.I have a 93 cobra.I know my stangs.

  • A stock gt puts about 185 -190 hp to the wheels.225 up front.100 shot and an 8 hp throttlebody with gears will get you into the mid 13s.If that.You look like an arogant dick when you lie like that.

  • I'll tell you right now 300 RWHP in a Fox hatch is good for mid/low 12's. In a coupe, even faster. It's obvious this car is hooking GOOD out of the hole by his 111 MPH trap speed and clicking off a 11.9...I'd say in the 1.5's easy with the 60fts.

  • Sounds like you need to learn how to drive. My gears and exhaust 86 T-top GT full weight went high 13's all motor. On the 100 shot it went 8.30 in the 1/8th (12.9 area). On the 150 shot it went 7.8 (12.0's area). and everyone knows 86's are the slowest EFI 5 liter around. Hell, I can name several cars with less work than your car that are in the 11's all motor. not everyone sucks at driving or modding their car.

  • WOW, you read too many magazines. Z06 Vettes lay down 460-480 RWHP. On street tires they are mid 11's cars. On slicks they are high 10's. I've seen it done personally. also, Mustangs have WAY better suspension for drag racing and therefore can pull great 60 fts with a lil suspension work and slicks. The gearbox has nothing to do with how fast the car can go. I've watched 335 RWHP Stangs go 7.2's in the 1/8th mile all day long full weight with AC and power options. Don't get butthurt.

  • Wrong. my 2002 GT dyno'd 338 RWHP/475 RWTQ on a Mustang dyno and went 11.95@113mph. So yeah, no fuzzy math here. if a 3800lb car can do it, why not a 3000lb Fox body that can 60 foot the same or better.

  • The race mainly happens in the 60ft. A 350hp Mustang on very sticky tires vs a 500HP Vette with cheesy 19-20 inch street tires. If you can't HOOK the power, then its useless. I doubt you've been racing more than a month if you don't know that simple concept.

  • Ive been racing for years.I have all my runs on my profile.Slow for now.I am almost done with my 347.Its a Brand new boss 302 bare block from ford.I have had a trick flow top end kit in my garage for a year.So,as soon as i buy my new rotating assembly and f cam i will slap on the trick flows.I will film the engine swap.I plan on 8.5 to 8.7 compression.I hope to make 400 hp at least on the motor.Then the 150 shot gets installed.Less than a year for sure.a 255 lphr fuel pump with 42 lb injectors.

  • WOULD love to race you after you get it done. I have 2 255 fuel pumps and 42lb injectors and I am still not getting enough fuel above 5500 rpms. My injectors are MAXXED IF I had 60lb injectors and a MSD box I would make 600 rwhp easy right before the block splits

  • 42s are good upto 500 rwhp so you should be ok. remember I am running a HCI and 15 pounds of boost. My car handles good I have only took it fast around corners once because I was running from a state trooper charger and it did well but corners scare me cause I dont want to wreck my car. I know though that my block is on borrowed time running 540 rwhp which would be around 620 at the crank. My next setup is a dart block bored .30 over with a dss rotating 347 assembly. I hoping to get into the 9s

  • Dart blocks are great.Little pricy.Try the new boss 302 block,it can displace 363 ci and handle all the hp you want.Super strong 4 bolt main caps.I am going with an eagle crank and rods.Cool.

  • also I will have a set of 42s for sale too soon. I have to get my a new MAF sensor too. I will set them both for 450. The injectors have less than 500 miles on them and I bought them for 350 from CJ pony parts. The MAF sensor I bought used so not sure on that but it works good and my tuner said that it was no where near pegged. Also I need to get my air to water intercooler soon (1600 beans) and then I am buying a snow performance water/meth kit stage 2 so I can add more timing and MORE HP :)

  • It is a stock cobra computer but my car has been dynoed tuned with a sct chip

  • I had a new MAF and sct chip put in last week.We have the same computer to.Mine put down 273 hp at the wheels last week.My lazy buddy has the camera,but i will post it when i get it.He films all my shit.His camera is great,mine sucks.The 273 hp is with only intake&exhaust,sct chip.All bbk.Stock ignition.Stock 93 cobra longblock&cam with only .479 lift.Better than a notch or gt,smaller than an e-303.,gt-40s&1.7sI guess that means it makes 300ish up front.Thats why the 347s on the way!

  • @flcrkr9 you need driving lessons. a stock 5.0 with a 100 shot has a decent shot at 11.9 with a good driver, which apparently you are not. As a matter of fact my 3650 lb 1993 GT runs 12.6 with 100% stock heads, no nitrous, no SC, or turbo on drag radials. So your 12.8 SUCKS.

I call BS on your claims of 12.6 with a stock 3650lb GT. That's a low 14, high 13 sec car with a 5 speed, and drag radials. I don't bench race on youtube, I'll leave that to you. If your car is really stock, I'd race my 12.8 car against your 12.6 car for pink slips, then watch you take a taxi home.

  • the gt40 would stomp a mud hole in that mustang on a road track. (its just not going to handle like a gt40) 150 thousand is for the design, technology, engine, safety features, women that you get when they see you ridin, etc.

  • Blah blah blah, I admit I like the New Ford GT's but for $150 grand, it better have a set of lips that come outta the dash and suck me off. I'll Build A 5.0 that can Hang with the GT in a straight line and on a road course for alot less. But thats just me, each to their own.

  • it has more than just a stock 5.0L in it. it has nitrous and a bigger throttle body different gearing, drag radials and different stall converter. its not stock. but its still awesome that something that probably cost the owner about 5k to build beat something that costs 150k

  • i got a 90 mustang gt. my 5.0 is stock and so is the whole car. that gt should have owned the mustang but either the GT's driver is shitty or that lx 5.0 has something more than a 5.0 under the hood. i gotta tell u. my 90 mustang gt get 0-60 in about 6 1/2 seconds.

  • This kill is bullshit, it didnt happen. That GT is an 11.0 second car. He was toying with the mustang. With the mods listed that mustang would be seeing high 12's at best.

  • The Ford GT is not set up for the strip. Put slicks on it, lower the gearing and install drag shocks and it becomes an instant low 10 second car.

  • I think you should have gotten a hint when you see the GT's brake lights come on before he crosses the finish line.

  • Its pretty easy to pull a 11 second 5.0. im bout to hit 12 with N/A Exploder motor in my 90.
