sure. it'd make a great gaming heatsink. the best part about it is that it comes with a fan speed controller, so you can put it on min for when you're doing regular surfing or word processing, and crank it up to max for when you're doing some crazy gaming.

assuming you've taken other measures to dampen decibels from your computer, installing one of these things shouldn't be a problem. the fan speed is modular, so when you aren't doing anything spectacular you can turn it down. turned all the way up, the fan is no louder than my cases two 120mm stock cooling fans.

I've read great reviews on that zalman. Bout to upgrade to a asus crosshair with athlon 64 x2 6400+ and was looking to getting that same cpu cooler, or the silent tower. That zalman treating you alright?

I got the same case and is considering a CNPS9700 as well, mostly for the looks - since there's better cooling solutions for the money, but I have good experienced with the CNPS9500 which I sold off when I got my new CPU. You should really need a fresher GPU though.

yeah, i had originally planned on a liquid cooling system, but decided on a zalman air cooler instead.

as for the gpu, i'm working on it. after i save up some money, i'll be getting the XFX NVidia GeForce 8600 Fatal1ty. not the best on the market, but certainly good enough for my needs

I would recommend a 8600GTS instead, if it was a 8600GT Fatal1ty you were after - it's just too much money for that little overclock.

Then I'd totally recommend the Asus 8600GTS, it's a 10 bucks more expensive than the fan-based but performs really well and works perfectly - both my brothers has that card.

nah get a 8800gt lol, I used to have 2 xfx 8600gt xxx in sli then upgraded to a 8800gt and a single 8800gt wipes the floor with my old sli setup
