@jcthrows i just drank a few till i felt a bit woozy! about 15 shots! but be sure you are having good absinthe! There is no point drinking the wrong type and expecting a buzz!. Don't choose an absinthe for its alcohol % being higher! It does helps if you can handle strong drinks,

@scifiaudious2 my mum got me these from Torromolinos in spain when on holiday. i have had alot of kinds of absinthes in my life. only 1 time its got me seeing things. the most expensive absinthe i have ever had was Hills. Cost 88 Quid about 10 years ago. Some make ya mouth go numb! but still fun. out of them 3 absinthes the red one had best taste.
To all the people that think absinthe is hallucinogenic now or that any commercial absinthe ever was. It is not, the thujone levels in absinthe, even old bottles that have been tested for thujone concentration, are such that it would require at least 20 shots in a fairly short period of time to reach psychoactive levels. If you have 20 shots of any 140+ proof liquor, regardless of it having thujone or not, in about an hour you will hallucinate, right before you likely die of alcohol poisoning.
Sebor is nothing more than mouthwash with a absinthe label placed on it. Saying Sebor is good absinthe is like saying piss is good beer. Want to have some good absinthe? Get some Pacifique, Marteau, Meadow of Love or even Lucid.
Would you recommend La Clandestine (from Switzerland)? I know it's only 53% ABV. You're going to have to my ignorance, but I'm not sure if a lower ABV proof would necessarily make it an inferior Absinthe.
I would recommend La Clandestine. I think It's absolutely wonderful especially in a "bureau arabe" cocktail: 1 jigger absinthe, 1/2 to 1 jigger orgeat, ice cold water to taste. It is an absolutely amazing drink and La Clandestine bleu is perfect in it.
i know i can get Pacifique in the U.S. now, possibly Meadow of Love, but can you recommend one with the LEAST anise/fennel taste. that shit makes me sick to my stomache.

No dude there is no trip or lsd effect the stuff just has twice as much alcohol as most liquors, so you get drunk as hell really quick if your not careful.
I have only ever tripped one time on Absinthe about 10 years ago. these days it would take alot of absinthe to get me. But i would most prob be too Drunk and not remember the next day! What did i see? Wildlife like no other and a full natural stream running through my room. i was sitting on a grass verge. I saw a strange fish swimming by in the crystal clear water. it had lots of long tenticals all around its body! when i cam out of it. i was sitting up in the middle of the room.

you were probably just really drunk... alcohol can sometimes make you dream while awake. the only other think that could make you see stuff like that are Ayahuasca and other plant based hallucinogens.
No absinthe today commercially made will make you hallucinate, the key ingredient that did that has been limited to a point where its ineffective. Better off taking LSD or magic musrooms instead, its cheaper.
The "Key Ingredient" is the plant "Artemisia Absinthium" (in german: Wermut). This plant grows overall in our forests. It is possible to earn it and to put it in comercial absinthe.
The key ingredient that you're speaking of is 'wormwood' and there are NO legal restrictions of wormwood nor are there any restrictions towards putting it in alcohol! NO Absinthe will make you hallucinate nor has it EVER done. It's simply a different kind of drunkenness. The mythology of absinthe hallucinations comes from the artists who were originally drinking it; however true artists have always had a very different perception of the world.
Wormwood is restricted in almost every major country in the world , most notably because it contains a chemical called "Thujone". Thujone is strikingly similiar to THC.
One thing you said was (surprisingly) correct. Thujone, or wormwood, cannot cause hallucinations, however it is psychoactive.
There have been numerous reports of people getting quite high from smoking the raw material 'Artemisia Absinthium" or other Thujone containing substances.
Furthermore, it's interesting to note that since Thujone content is restricted (10mg/kg , or ten parts per million in the U.S. and Europe) it would be quite difficult to prove conclusively how strong the effects can be.
I bought some here in Switzerland and it is clear in colour, just makes you drunk. It is the stuff that is MOSTLY illegal that will give you the true effect.
I'm glad to see more people are interested in absinthe and I hope you enjoyed the ones you tried.
However, the brands you had were, ah...not the first pick of many absintheurs! I think everyone got some not-so-great brands when they first started their absinthe journey, but do some research and you'll see there is much better available from France and Switzerland (that deliver the same "effect").

The Absinthe i was drinking here was a Gift from spain. The only Absinthes i have had chance to enjoy the correct way is: Laffee and Hills. Its not easy to find people where i live, That can enjoy this drink! without getting legless. Would be nice for get together event in uk. The key ingredient that you're speaking of is 'wormwood' and there are NO legal restrictions of wormwood nor are there any restrictions towards putting it in alcohol! NO Absinthe will make you hallucinate nor has it EVER done. It's simply a different kind of drunkenness. The mythology of absinthe hallucinations comes from the artists who were originally drinking it; however true artists have always had a very different perception of the world.

You're very wrong.
Wormwood is restricted in almost every major country in the world , most notably because it contains a chemical called "Thujone". Thujone is strikingly similiar to THC.
One thing you said was (surprisingly) correct. Thujone, or wormwood, cannot cause hallucinations, however it is psychoactive.
There have been numerous reports of people getting quite high from smoking the raw material 'Artemisia Absinthium" or other Thujone containing substances.

Furthermore, it's interesting to note that since Thujone content is restricted (10mg/kg , or ten parts per million in the U.S. and Europe) it would be quite difficult to prove conclusively how strong the effects can be.
Hence the mystery continues.

Not all absinthes give the absinthe effect. also most people may get you too drunk before the effects takes hold.
sebor is a good absinthe or look up absinthe online with and read what the experts say.

I bought some here in Switzerland and it is clear in colour, just makes you drunk. It is the stuff that is MOSTLY illegal that will give you the true effect.

I'm glad to see more people are interested in absinthe and I hope you enjoyed the ones you tried.
However, the brands you had were, ah...not the first pick of many absintheurs! I think everyone got some not-so-great brands when they first started their absinthe journey, but do some research and you'll see there is much better available from France and Switzerland (that deliver the same "effect").

The Absinthe i was drinking here was a Gift from spain. The only Absinthes i have had chance to enjoy the correct way is: Laffee and Hills. Its not easy to find people where i live, That can enjoy this drink! without getting legless. Would be nice for get together event in uk. I know of a very rare method of having an absinthe. using a 9v battery and pure silver.
