Tree is one of the fastest farmers i've ever played just take a solo mid and dominate the cks, its okay to lane against a ranged mid.. just pull the enemy creeps towards ur cliff and last hit everything, if u take some damge thats what ur armors for..
and once ur lvl 6 gank whenever your ulti's up or if u can kill the enemy's mid hero then do it
I find it amusing that S2 nerfed the flying courier with a hatchet and then turned around and decided to let you be able to throw the hatchet a short distance. Man, Keeper sure was a bitch to play during those awkward few weeks before they transitioned to the new Keeper skillset.
how do you counter mock of briliance? does barbed armor work? i always get a hard time with heroes with mock since i like to play more of a baby sitter, support kinda heroes.
Well people can use Kotf as an battle keeper these days, good for soloing mid, almost imba in last hitting. He is verry versatile hero, good if the enemy team dont have ways to counter your eyes.
Hon is an exact copy of DotA and I'd say it is DotA's doppelganger or whatever. Yes it has a bit better graphics and maybe some extra tricks like % of heores picked but for christ sake, why would anybody do the same game, with same item names, map, skills and heroes?! @ThePremKing HoN is "based" on DotA, its a huge difference between "copied" and "based on", and it's nothing wrong with that! There are not a single name or item directly "copied" from DotA to HoN, that would be stealing. There are no Heroes directly "copied" from DotA to HoN, there are some heroes who is really alike but there are no hero who is identical to any hero in DotA.
S2 have created their point of view on the gameplay of DotA in a seperate game, just like Riot for LoL.
How about the hero that has got a nice ulti which creates a hole in the ground and pulls enemies into the center, how about that the same hero can create 3 minions which look, atk, heal, divide into 2 more each one, it's appearance(blue flying above the ground), the 3rd spell is same as well, aoe dmg based on HP of enemy. This is a COPY of Enigma from DotA. Do not quarrel with that :)

nigma's build is not very good. even though you can go invis and run into the enemies and ult, that usually doesn't work against good teams. get portal key and get the armored boots instead of ghost marchers
@ImChopStix the 2.1k gives you great positioning for ult and possible catching every single enemy player. it's also acts as a great escape mechanism in situations where the enemy team has bound eyes and etc. imo, portal key is a core item to keeper of the forest.
@Justice4x i see where your going with this an i can agree but my point is that in most games and times you wont need if especially with wards an eyes. Ive set up a lot of good ults in 1700 hundred non em games and would personally find not much need for blink.

If activated during ult, the hero will still be immobilized, but immune to the damage. If activated before the ult, the hero won't be affected at all.

You want the ulti to massdisable your opponents and even with shrunken you are stil disabled, sure it takes away the magic dmg, but shrunken always does that.

This guide is bullshit ;O its low psr based ... high rated u want roof mid and go fast demonic then u smash the anything ;O look at hes base dmg it stacks tremendously fast giving him carry abilities and also means he cant outlasthit anyone but DW in mid.
He is all wrong ... this guide is for 1500-1600+... during the 1800+ hes a carry non the less .. and u allways want him mid due to fast ult ganks... and becoz hes base dmg is humoungous making it able to lasthit everything mid except if a DW is there.
playing as keeper atm, got all 5 of hellbourne in my ult 3 times, what does our hag do? creep 100 units away :) this is why u NEVER play keeper in pubs.
when i play Keeper, i usually buy Helm of the black legion, hatchet, steamboots(strenght), Behemoths Heart, and portal key (portal key and behemoths heart not necessarily in this order).
i choose this items because keeper can't do much as a DPS hero, but I find it quite an awesome almost complete hero, good amount of hp, warding properties, escaping(invisibility) and a nice gank starting ultimate. I would try different item combos, but can't be bordered to play with unknown people in no stats.
@FLAMEJEWSTER4LIFE I don't really know if keeper can be a carry hero, never played it as a carry (always played as a support, high hp hero). if only HoN had an offline vs AI mode, so i could test different item combos would be a bigger + to the game.. i sincerely hope they introduce that in an upcoming update.

Id go attribute bonuses, 1 lvl of camo, rest is armour and ultimate. core items would be restoration stone and elder parasite. I understand he has the skills of a support, but can carry real hard. @GeneralDerInfanterie elder parasite and insanitarius are waste of gold on him. if you want some damage for your hits, get behe heart, frostwolfs skull, savage mace. some none-scrub items.

I was given beta access to this game. I don't know why. I had never played this genre of game before. Had no idea how it worked. I tried to play a few games with some other players -- ended up being the worst, most obnoxious gaming community I have ever dealt with. Nothing but a bunch of whiney 12 year olds rage-quitting because I didn't know how to play. I would RTFM but there wasn't one. Fucking annoying.
Sadly, you're right. Played this game until recently, but quit cause of the community. You'll realize that most people, although whiney, arent even good players themselves, they all play very egocentric and noone cares about the team, although its a team game -.-.
played keeper a couple of days ago and a semi carry build worked pretty good against hard carrys like nh and dark lady. I got ghost marchers, helm of the black legion, restoration stone, mock of brilliance, elder parasite and demonic breastplate. Later I sold my helm to get room for my homecoming stone. And yes it was a pretty long game so I could get thesse items. Anyways, I was able to take down some of their feeded carrys so we were able to turn the game around.
i guive it steamboots in order to have enough mana to double ult by changing it to int when its necesary. from lvl 14 and forward if u did a decent job and picked the good skill on him u cant ult twice :P
sorry nigma, i like your guides and stuff but all what you're saying is definetly not right about keeper. he's a very good hero. he's good early coz of his armor if u get him an iron buckler harrasses barely do any dmg to u and u can last hit without risk of dying

as a 3v3 player who loves keeper i disagree with almost everything you said, especially that keeper can't carry (he can early to mid game, that's a fact.). while the item set you picked for the support role are ok, imho keeper can have 2 more roles.
One of the roles would be another kind of support. getting some of the armor aura itens (demonic breastplate and abyssal skull for instance), plus his armor skill should boost allies armor by 22, and that's a HUGE boost. you can still get refresher and do your shit with the double ults later but you have to watch out for shrunken heads on the other team. if half or more of them are making it, it's probably not such a good idea to go for refresher anymore.
@GraveUypo The other is a kinda of mix between carry and "tank". it's kinda hard to make decisions as you have to sacrifice points on the eyes early for stats on this build but it does work.
as you said, keeper is slow and has high damage, so you focus on stuff that gives attack speed AND improves your ability to tank, such as frostburn, and steamboots. With these two itens you have the ability to chase down heroes after your ult expires and you'll be dealing decent auto atk damage (continues)
by lvl 13 or something you should have over 2k hp and around 160dmg with these itens. From there on, the itens you make will depend on what the game calls for. But granted, if the game drags too long, true carries with passive criticals and damage boosts and such will begin to have and edge. that's where you go for barbed armor and so. no one can kill keeper while he has barbed on without dying first. that buys enough time for the you and the rest of the team to do "something".
for skills, you get lvl 1 eye, then nature's protection whenever you can/ stats when you can't, and ult as soon as it's available. also get lvl 1 inv when you feel you need it (that would be lvl 5 OR lvl 7). when you finish upgrading nature's protection, you can finish upgrading eyes. finish inv LAST. you only really need lvl 1 inv

just give it a try on a no-stat game if you will, it does work
magmus can't because his natural stats suck to boot. no armor, low HP, low damage.
blacksmith can't because there are no really good int carrying itens and his agi/ int are not exactly that good.
pebbles actually can, since he gets 300 dmg with no itens at all, all he needs is a lot of attack speed itens and he can do a decent job carrying. tree is better than him tho.
I know everyone else has mentioned Portal Key as a good item for KotF and I just want to sort of "bump" the idea of it. You mentioned around 6 minutes that people will tend to get eyes or wards to counter the camoflauge, and Ghost Marchers's 10% won't cut it IMO.
I tend to throw a Portal Key on Pesti for example, so that an unsuspecting push can be initiated with his AoE 2 second stun + 2 second slow to wreak havoc. It pretty much works in the same principle.
@doitsidis It's still going to be "Ring of Basilus/the Teacher", but if you don't have it set to "Heroes Only" (by clicking it if you didn't know), during the early game, your creeps will have the advantage over their creeps, resulting in the opponents tower hugging.
I like to get elders parasite to combine with my ulti on tree how do you feel about that as an item? It works very similar to Chronos' ulti in my opinion
I never understood trees roots because while it can root people who are magic immune other heroes most notably ELECTRICIAN can just grab someone while rooted. Why is this even possible? Anything that moves a hero shouldn't be capable of casting when your covered in roots not to mention heroes with blink.
Personally, I dislike keeper. I would only run him in a scrim due to his ulti. He's a good support/tank but not a very good babysitter. I agree with your spell build but that means that you don't even get nature's protection til level 3. Kinda fails as a babysitter in that sense
...also i think a blinkdagger + plated greaves > ghost marchers. The blinkdagger is a much better initiation item and also allows you greater mobility, which is one of his rather big problems
Would be nice if you would make a pestilence video, since there are so many diffrent ways of playing him. It would be nice to see what you considder the best, and see if you have any tips that we havnt thought about.
Just another thing you might want to mention, if you decide to get alchemist's bones use it on catapults or basilisks, by doing this you will get about 150-200 gold each time. Basicly you get a tower everytime you use it.

Would you consider Codex on Keeper to be a viable option, if you're getting good use out of your Alchy Bones? I find that as Keeper, I sort of am irrelevant in terms of damage output in the mid game for teamfights, only picking things up massively towards the end (once I have Resto Stone and Frostfield for the double ult.)
And what's the font you use in these videos? I'm curious because it looks really cool :D
As always a good guide. I have one minor complaint about the video though; when it goes to a total black screen 3 or 4 times it just feels weird especially when watching in fullscreen. I actually thought it had froze since these "blackouts" didnt really fit in natural (like at end of segments etc.) and you were still talking and in the middle of sentences. Other then that, keep up the good work! :)
i personally prefer steamboots over marchers since u need that ias so u can hit more often when theyre in ur ultimate and just rush a portal key after since i always get owned if i go in with enhanced marchers

@cakin135 Shrunken Head can be activated either before his ult, or during it.
If activated during ult, the hero will still be immobilized, but immune to the damage. If activated before the ult, the hero won't be affected at all.

You want the ulti to massdisable your opponents and even with shrunken you are stil disabled, sure it takes away the magic dmg, but shrunken always does that.

when i play Keeper, i usually buy Helm of the black legion, hatchet, steamboots(strenght), Behemoths Heart, and portal key (portal key and behemoths heart not necessarily in this order).
i choose this items because keeper can't do much as a DPS hero, but I find it quite an awesome almost complete hero, good amount of hp, warding properties, escaping(invisibility) and a nice gank starting ultimate. I would try different item combos, but can't be bordered to play with unknown people in no stats.

try fast savage mace/steamboots or ghost marchers / elder parasite
very easy lasthitting with lothars hatchet since u deal around 100dmg per hit ;)

@FLAMEJEWSTER4LIFE I don't really know if keeper can be a carry hero, never played it as a carry (always played as a support, high hp hero). if only HoN had an offline vs AI mode, so i could test different item combos would be a bigger + to the game.. i sincerely hope they introduce that in an upcoming update.

@palmeiraant Yeah I know what you mean, but I've always tried mid with keeper, going as a carry role and I always found it effective. Id go attribute bonuses, 1 lvl of camo, rest is armour and ultimate. core items would be restoration stone and elder parasite. I understand he has the skills of a support, but can carry real hard. If you dont believe me you can look at my scores with him. My name is NarfNarf, and I have a .9kdr but if you look at my keeper stats, theyre pretty good.

my build is Post Haste (with natures protection and tree sight u have to move A LOT), restoration stone, Savage Mace, Behe heart. they are expensive, but it will kick serious tail.

I was given beta access to this game. I don't know why. I had never played this genre of game before. Had no idea how it worked. I tried to play a few games with some other players -- ended up being the worst, most obnoxious gaming community I have ever dealt with. Nothing but a bunch of whiney 12 year olds rage-quitting because I didn't know how to play. I would RTFM but there wasn't one. Fucking annoying.

played keeper a couple of days ago and a semi carry build worked pretty good against hard carrys like nh and dark lady. I got ghost marchers, helm of the black legion, restoration stone, mock of brilliance, elder parasite and demonic breastplate. Later I sold my helm to get room for my homecoming stone. And yes it was a pretty long game so I could get thesse items. Anyways, I was able to take down some of their feeded carrys so we were able to turn the game around.

i guive it steamboots in order to have enough mana to double ult by changing it to int when its necesary. from lvl 14 and forward if u did a decent job and picked the good skill on him u cant ult twice :P

as a 3v3 player who loves keeper i disagree with almost everything you said, especially that keeper can't carry (he can early to mid game, that's a fact.). while the item set you picked for the support role are ok, imho keeper can have 2 more roles.

One of the roles would be another kind of support. getting some of the armor aura itens (demonic breastplate and abyssal skull for instance), plus his armor skill should boost allies armor by 22, and that's a HUGE boost. you can still get refresher and do your shit with the double ults later but you have to watch out for shrunken heads on the other team. if half or more of them are making it, it's probably not such a good idea to go for refresher anymore.

@GraveUypo The other is a kinda of mix between carry and "tank". it's kinda hard to make decisions as you have to sacrifice points on the eyes early for stats on this build but it does work.
as you said, keeper is slow and has high damage, so you focus on stuff that gives attack speed AND improves your ability to tank, such as frostburn, and steamboots. With these two itens you have the ability to chase down heroes after your ult expires and you'll be dealing decent auto atk damage (continues)

by lvl 13 or something you should have over 2k hp and around 160dmg with these itens. From there on, the itens you make will depend on what the game calls for. But granted, if the game drags too long, true carries with passive criticals and damage boosts and such will begin to have and edge. that's where you go for barbed armor and so. no one can kill keeper while he has barbed on without dying first. that buys enough time for the you and the rest of the team to do "something".

for skills, you get lvl 1 eye, then nature's protection whenever you can/ stats when you can't, and ult as soon as it's available. also get lvl 1 inv when you feel you need it (that would be lvl 5 OR lvl 7). when you finish upgrading nature's protection, you can finish upgrading eyes. finish inv LAST. you only really need lvl 1 inv
bah i was gonna go into more detail but i got annoyed by the 500 characters limit so i'm done -_-
just give it a try on a no-stat game if you will, it does work

magmus can't because his natural stats suck to boot. no armor, low HP, low damage.
blacksmith can't because there are no really good int carrying itens and his agi/ int are not exactly that good.
pebbles actually can, since he gets 300 dmg with no itens at all, all he needs is a lot of attack speed itens and he can do a decent job carrying. tree is better than him tho.

I know everyone else has mentioned Portal Key as a good item for KotF and I just want to sort of "bump" the idea of it. You mentioned around 6 minutes that people will tend to get eyes or wards to counter the camoflauge, and Ghost Marchers's 10% won't cut it IMO.
I tend to throw a Portal Key on Pesti for example, so that an unsuspecting push can be initiated with his AoE 2 second stun + 2 second slow to wreak havoc. It pretty much works in the same principle.

@doitsidis It's still going to be "Ring of Basilus/the Teacher", but if you don't have it set to "Heroes Only" (by clicking it if you didn't know), during the early game, your creeps will have the advantage over their creeps, resulting in the opponents tower hugging.

I never understood trees roots because while it can root people who are magic immune other heroes most notably ELECTRICIAN can just grab someone while rooted. Why is this even possible? Anything that moves a hero shouldn't be capable of casting when your covered in roots not to mention heroes with blink.

Personally, I dislike keeper. I would only run him in a scrim due to his ulti. He's a good support/tank but not a very good babysitter. I agree with your spell build but that means that you don't even get nature's protection til level 3. Kinda fails as a babysitter in that sense
...also i think a blinkdagger + plated greaves > ghost marchers. The blinkdagger is a much better initiation item and also allows you greater mobility, which is one of his rather big problems

Just another thing you might want to mention, if you decide to get alchemist's bones use it on catapults or basilisks, by doing this you will get about 150-200 gold each time. Basicly you get a tower everytime you use it.

Would you consider Codex on Keeper to be a viable option, if you're getting good use out of your Alchy Bones? I find that as Keeper, I sort of am irrelevant in terms of damage output in the mid game for teamfights, only picking things up massively towards the end (once I have Resto Stone and Frostfield for the double ult.)
And what's the font you use in these videos? I'm curious because it looks really cool :D

As always a good guide. I have one minor complaint about the video though; when it goes to a total black screen 3 or 4 times it just feels weird especially when watching in fullscreen. I actually thought it had froze since these "blackouts" didnt really fit in natural (like at end of segments etc.) and you were still talking and in the middle of sentences. Other then that, keep up the good work! :)

i personally prefer steamboots over marchers since u need that ias so u can hit more often when theyre in ur ultimate and just rush a portal key after since i always get owned if i go in with enhanced marchers
