I think if you want to mount a camera to the handlebars you need a bike with front suspension. Other than that I think you would need an isolated mount(much smoother). I'd love to ride down this road some day.
I've done that road enough times, pretty good so long as the wind's behind you. 45mph on an MTB would be a good speed IMO, I doubt your gearing would allow much more than that (44/11).
Personally I'd rather hook left at the White House onto Blacky Edge, some good mtb'ing to be had there. ;-)
Been thinking about mounting a cam here on the bars to record an off-road vid though judging by this road footage I don't think it'd be such a good idea now... :-D
Hey mate, I was on a mountain bike, it was a strong wind coming up the hill from the west so I only managed 30 mph. however with the wind behined me, blowing west at about 20 mph, I still only managed 48 mph, so I reckon your speedo is screwed! You would be lucky to get 60 on a decent road bike and to be able to hold on at that speed!
jesus christ mate. i came down there at nearly 60 on a pedal bike. comeon put some effort into it. and if you want a real thrill try tod road from bacup i got 75 down there, but make sure your brakes work, simpsonite46{at}hotmail{dot}com if u wanna comment
