  • I live I'n California close to orange county I'm I'n yolo county but I don't know wat to choose either the MARINES or SPECIAL OPS because I want to be a sharpshooter. Idk which to choose anyone wanna help me out?

  • @Eltigre841 In my opinion, the Marines Scout Sniper program is the most elite group in the world.

  • im jelaous. Nothing better than having sf job and sitting on your ass half of the year playing computer games LOL

  • hardcore

  • @thomas1016 if you really liked it that much they could have worked something closer for you! Cause i am moving out of state and they are just moving my drills to a new location!

  • @3in1forme

You can transfer to another guard unit in another state. But there were no Special Forces units in Wyoming were I moved to. And I was not interested in going into a Artillery or Engineer unit.

  • DAMN IT.. MY GT SCORE IS 92 LOL I AM QUALIFIED FOR 31B MILITARY POLICE.

  • the prep guide also has a 5 week progressive ruck routine that will get you doing 18 mile rucks in good time. but its not for people who arent in shape.

  • that mentality is like bashing your head against a wall to prepare for a car crash. Just diet well, make sure your APFT scores are elevated. never settle for the minimum. as far as rucking if you can ruck 4 miles in 54 minutes with 75-80lbs you have about an 81% chance of passing SFAS. the APFT, if you can score 276 or higher you have a 78% chance of passing. but these numbers dont mean sh*t if you are NOT mentally prepared and mentally fit. btw these statistics were in a prep guide at the SFRE

  • By the way, Simonbrice3 and crazymason88 is posted by myself. when I completed the first post I realized my computer was still logged in to my buddies youtube account. So i switched it and continued the post. Hope its some good info for you guys. PM me if you have any training tips, although a basic rule when preparing for something like this Train smart. doing any kind of breath holding, cold water drills or over training leading injury is unwise and unsafe.

  • the rest were guard guys, saw some former marines, a few former seals, and alot of former ranger bat guys. What appealed to me about the guard is the networking. its amazing. If you were to pass the readiness eval. you get your physical, complete your TS packet. and off you go. it takes a few months so during that time you drill with the SF unit. proctor and participate in any SFRE's or training evolutions and wait to be sent off to SFAS. the Guard has a pretty good success rate there.

  • yeah, you have to call ahead, print out a questionaire fill it out and bring it to the SFRE. theres an APFT 17-21 age group standard. a Swim test in boots and fatigues.an unknown distance ruck completed in an unknown time frame.with a set weight. dont be late or light. and an interview with some sf dudes. its some tough stuff, when I went I was late on my ruck. I did well for a civillian but didnt make the cut off. out of roughly 27 guys, I was one of few civillians.

  • I went through two SFRE's Special Forces Readiness Evaluations for the 19th group. 1 took place in Los Alamitos JFTB, CA. The other was in SLO. both times were very challenging. The Guard has alot of success putting guys through Selection. If you show your capable of putting out and you stand a good chance at selection by passing these SFREs (im not sure what the 20th group calls them) they will work with you, giving you the best possible opportunity to pass SFAS.

  • @simonbrice3

I was in the 1/19th from 1980 - 86, One of the best times of my life. If my Job haddn't taken me further away from monthly drills I would have stayed.

  • To clear up some ?'s depending on where you are in the US NG SF is easily and readily available. In NC the NG SF (20th group)is one of THE best ways in going through SFAS n Selection since that unit has a 93% PASSING rate, meaning you drill with 20th they spend how ever long developing ur skills n weakness. Go kick butt in SFAS n Selc. N you already head n shoulders above everyone else. PLUS school slots for HALO/DIVE are always open since 20th is so small. Vrs active duty where it's a numbers

  • i went and talked to an NG recruiter and he told me that SF wasnt available through NG. does anybody know if option 40 can be attached to an NG infantry contract if one is open?

  • @MrRanger1987 Not sure what state you live in? But the NG only has two SF units the 19th&20th SF groups. The 19th is HQ out of Draper, Utah, and has units in Washington, West Virginia, Ohio, Rhode Island, Colorado, California, and Texas. The 20th is HQ out of Birmingham, Alabama with battalions in Alabama (1st Battalion)Mississippi (2nd Battalion)Florida (3rd Battalion) Companies and Detachments in North Carolina ; Chicago, Illinois; Louisville, Kentucky; and Baltimore, Maryland.

  • @MrRanger1987 So if you live in one of those states then yes SF is a open job for you in the ANG. If not you could join as a 11B or 11C do BCT and AIT at Benning (I would opt for OSUT and do all your training at one time). Then move to a state that has SF units and apply for the job. Or just move to one of those states and then join the guard and apply for a SF job right off.

  • @IrishPuglover3565 well its hard to join the guard and just change states because when you sign that contract with your local guard unit you are attached to that unit after ait. so if they are already tagged to ship out or anything going on when you get back from ait then you are already tagged with the unit to go. you cant do any kind of transfer request until after your back home and unless you signed over the minimum ANG enlistment with that unit chances are they arent going to transfer you

  • @MrRanger1987 In most cases that is the case but if your set to start college in another state they will allow you to transfer. As for shipping out that all depends on your MOS and the level of AIT/ training that MOS needs. IE if you did enlist as any 18 mos your training after AIT would be,AAS(3 weeks),SOPC(30days),SFA/AS(24 days) and then SFQC, IS(13 weeks)MOSQ(15 weeks)LT(14 weeks)CT(4 weeks)SERE and then LET. That's over a year of hard training. I believe SFA/AS is now 4 weeks.

  • @MrRanger1987 So no you would not be shipping out till your training was done unless you failed apart. Then you would be sent to a IU to await the next training date. While in that unit you would deploy if they did. You would want to join as Initial Accession under the "18X Program" That would get you right into the SF training after BCT/AIT. If you failed a part of SF training as a 18X you would be sent to a IU as a 11B till you could retest.

  • love the special forces

  • @xxxmikeyxxxx this aint fun.

  • anyone who is in the guard or was in the Guard, if you have time please msg me, I have a few questions. thanks

  • special forces and National Guard ???how does that work ??? I mean talk about a oxymoron :D:D

  • travel the world, meet new people, discover new cultures and kill them all. lol

  • @bobo784 Ahaha i think i remember that from a line in Full Metal Jacket or sumthin lol

  • Can you join national guard sf if you have a G.E.D.. I have been thinking of the the marine corp but have never considered the national guard. I have a G.E.D. but managed to get a 101 on a asvab test Does anyone know if I can join the national guard?

  • 99th percentile is the highest anyone can get on the test. You may need a lying jackass waiver to get in.

  • YES YOU CAN

  • yeah you can do sf. for rangers, youve gotta be 18 and have a high school diploma or ged equivalent

  • @smartguy104 gt of score of 110+, be in great shape

  • in california you have to have 20 credits of college/university to get in if you have a GED. This can change any day depends on if they need guys or not.

  • Yes you can.

  • The video said one weekend a month and two weeks out of the summer.

I thought that SF in the guard was AGR and was fulltime.

  • With the high demand for SF soldiers now they are temporarily open to National Guard enlisted

  • lmao...

  • 0:25 wtf is that excercise

  • the over head arm clap...if you have never done these 100 at a time after pushups and pull ups you have no idea...so next time you work out do a set of pull ups pushups and give the overhead arm claps a shot...you will cry

  • haha cool, i will do it thnks

  • over head arm clap. that shit gets exhausting after a hundred or so. give it a try. its painful. looks are def. deceiving.

  • Sorry Eastern***

  • I'm in Army ROTC at Easter Kentucky University and when I commission I'm def considering this

  • Go Colonels!!!

  • Good luck. I WAS going that route, but in Army SF, the NCO is the daddy.

  • i am currently in the process of enlisting in the ARNG, and was wondering if i could do special forces training, even though i am color blind. i was thinking about doing sf later in life, and wanted to know if that might get me disqualified.

  • No, you can't if you are colorblind.

  • My father is color blind (Not completely though, he can make out a bit of color) and he was in the Special Forces, I think your good to go unless things have changed since my dad served 20 years ago

  • i just enlisted in the national guard as a combat medic and i was looking at SF medic first. they work the same as any reserve SF unit, you deploy AS NEEDED and train the same. you don't do one weekend a month like everyone else. you are essentially active duty but with more down time

  • @chilipepperxx

18D (Special Forces Medic) is the most in demand and demanding MOS. They are trained to be able to perform minor surgeries in the field. If you decide to go for this field I highly reccomend taking a AP biology class prior.

  • national guardmen are trained by some S.F. forces. you have 2 be in active service 2 get that much training.you dont get recruited ether, you volunteer for it. the ownly close S.F. training is a sniper or ranger training for 1 week in the summer thats about it.

  • i say join the national guard but if your going to join best do it now cause its getting harder and harder to join ,the army is over limit and we have to many people trying for army,ng.

and sf is not for every one ,now your going to need a college degree to get in some sf,occupations.

  • woa i didnt know we had a special forces unit out here in orange county.

  • HaHa, 2 weeks a year as a special forces operative.

  • Comment removed

  • I think the video is incorrect. The training alone to become a special forces soldier is around a year I believe. Plus, I am sure they train more often that regular NG units because the nature of their work.

  • Ya i agree. SF is one of our most elite units, they cant train just once a month! they need to be training like Active Duty

  • @Selino25 standards are the same with active and national guard. I'd join sf and see the difference between active and ng before making those comments.

  • @Selino25 they pretty much do train active duty. Trust me, it's more than 1x a month.

  • @Selino25 They are mostly AGR.

  • special forces should be open to women

  • I won't complain. If they can pass the Star more power to them. I want to see a 5'2" 105 pound hottie running with a 110 pound pack trying to make time between each point on the course.

  • if it was none would make it through anyways women arent even allowed in regular infantry thank god let alone go sf

  • if they did that, their pt scale should be the same as a male. They would need to be top notch, and be treated no different
