@kernals12 Petrol in Europe is rated between 95 to 98 octane as standard, plus our laws are different regards to BHP and CO2, different US states will have different laws in regards to the same item, it maybe your cars are fitted with different exhaust systems and different more restrictive catalytic converts, but most of the time the main difference is the "ECU Map" which can be changed or "altered". By doing this it should bring your BHP up. You can always contact BMW and ask why yourself'
@kernals12 It's to do with emissions. In the US they had stricter laws regarding emissions so Nearly every car imported to US had to be detuned and muffled up a bit. Not as much to do with fuel but common sense 98 octane will perform better than 87 or 91 or which ever one you guys had back then.
@TupacX2Pak actually the octane of our fuels is the same, we just have a different measurement system so while regular fuel is 95 octane over there, here it's 87, for premium fuel, it's 98 over there, 91 or 93 here
I'd rather have a Chevy Cavalier....What with it's 2200cc Pushrod (not even SOHC, mind you) 4 cylinder making 120 BHP, with interior panels made out of the shittiest plastic construction you could ever imagine....Now THAT's a car. Lol. I'm kidding to the HIGHEST extent....
Long Live the M car, BMW has and will ALWAYS have a winner with these.
@5959512 surprised no one has responded to you yet. let me tell you .. that if the car checks out mechanically and is in good cosmetic shape with a clean title ... clear history ... THAT IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD DEAL. It is a myth that they are a headache to own. Educate yourself on the way to maintain the car and keep on top of it ... and you will love that car for a very long time. the s52 is a very reliable engine and the trans on these cars (5spd manual) is very stout.
i think there is something wrong with car manufacters today... in early 80s, bmw had a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder engine... it made 1200 horsepower... more than a bugatti veyron...
Those engines were very complicated, only lasted one race weekend and I believe ran on different fuel than modern F1 cars.
They didn't even make 1200hp for an entire race weekend. They could generate that sort of power for 1 or 2 qualifying laps, but during the race they had to reduce turbo boost or the engine wouldn't last the race distance.
@Tomekpsp it would last less than a race weekend... good engineered engine to handle such power... but ofcourse such a small engine could not hand all that power...
@Tomekpsp hehehe im just saying tho. if you were to get honda to do that. they would not be able to engineer and engine that can last over an hour with that much power. bmw was able to engineer it... so why cant they engineer more engines like that today? im not asking 1000 hp, im asking 300+ hp in a 1500 4 cyl engine, when gas prices are so high... i have a 2.0 LNF engine making 300 hp, only problem is..... GM made.... lmao
@skinnbone260 Saying BMW could design an engine like that and not Honda is stupid. Honda has engineered some of the best engines in the history of internal combustion. Particularly in the Formula One arena they have until recently been at the forefront of racing engines! I'm a BMW man through and through but the company has nothing to do with that in terms of capability. If the board of Honda decided to build that they could do it just as BMW can. BTW that horsepower is in qualifying trim too!
@at32degrees well i mean im just saying... the 2jz can handle some serious power... and the 2.5 engine in the late 80s bmw could handle about 400+ horses
i want to see a honda with stock internals do that
@skinnbone260 I know what you mean but the logic is faulty. My point is, if Honda had the desire to build an engine that was thoroughly engineered to handle significantly more power than stock output they absolutely could. They don't because that's not their goal. It's like saying "Well Honda can't build an engine that sounds as good as a Lamborghini V-12". That may or may not be true but it's irrelevant because they aren't even trying to. They focus on affordability and fuel efficiency...
@at32degrees It's clear that they have the expertise to build a robust stock engine capable of huge horsepower IF THEY WANTED TO. Typically that isn't the case because the goal is to minimize cost and maximize efficiency. There aim is to build an engine that is only as robust as it needs to be for the intended output. There's just a difference in the goals of the two companies as well as what its customers expect them to produce. All I'm saying is Honda could if they wanted to...but they don't.
@skinnbone260 You don´t realize one thing, the stuff you put into the car to get it to 400+HP is the stuff that would break or get damaged under the pressure. That´s not just changing air filter and installing new exhaust or remapping ECU, getting a car from ~200hp to 400 take some serious tuning.
@W1zzar3 no... i mean supercharging my mustang... 4.6 v8. i had that thing last winter. i had to forge internals just so it could get 200 more horsepower from the supercharger. i had done a lot of other things to it. but with stock internals im saying. very little cars can handle that much power... for example, the 2az engine the the scion TCs. stock internals, you can turbo it, and get 400hp at the engine
Waitg did I hear him right??? A 1.5 liter 4 banger turbo with over 1000bhp????? Thats amazing! Y didn't they do that for a Bugatti and save all that weight to go even faster?!?!?!?!
@birdman3120 replace the engine with something smaller! Don't get me wrong I love the Veyron it is a remarkable technical achievement that deserves an applause absolutely but I think it might have been executed to a higher standard than what the final project's bill suggests they spent for the Veyrons development.
@doodydude234 You are asshole, this is top gear when tiff was in the crew. Nieedell was faster in top gear than J. @mtr22b I knew this, but just cuse im a big fan. Here in Brazil we dont have BBC channel. And neither that other of Fifth Gear, channel Five is it? I mean, you are right but that 2 names (top and fifth gear) look like camed from the same producers and channel too.

The only M3 you can drive is the latest model- You look like a failure driving around in a 80's/90's model, displaying the fact that you couldn't afford it when it was truly cool- managing to pick one up on Auto Trader 10 years+ after its initial launch date makes such a poor statement. And that old argument used by those that haven't done as well in life as planned- that it's a more involving drive because it does without electronic aids doesn't make you a driving messiah.
@b4pl When old Top Gear ended Channel Five half-inched all the old presenters (VBH, Tiff and Wilson) to create Fifth Gear. Not long later new Top Gear arrived with Clarkson and co

Perhaps you missed "Jessica" trailing off in the beginning of the clip, or Tiff playfully punching Jeremy in the face at the end.
If this is Fifth Gear, does that mean Clarkson jumped ship to the show in 1997, even though it didn't go on the air until 2002?

Why is it that every video of Tiff on old Top Gear has some 'tard saying 'its 5th gear innit'. Even if you're too young to remember old Top Gear the BBC logo is a pretty bloody obvious clue.

@mtr22b I knew this, but just cuse im a big fan. Here in Brazil we dont have BBC channel. And neither that other of Fifth Gear, channel Five is it? I mean, you are right but that 2 names (top and fifth gear) look like camed from the same producers and channel too.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The only M3 you can drive is the latest model- You look like a failure driving around in a 80's/90's model, displaying the fact that you couldn't afford it when it was truly cool- managing to pick one up on Auto Trader 10 years+ after its initial launch date makes such a poor statement. And that old argument used by those that haven't done as well in life as planned- that it's a more involving drive because it does without electronic aids doesn't make you a driving messiah.

@KoopaKabana a well maintained e30 m3 is about the sameprice as an e46 m3.

@flskimskatesurf Driving an e30 where people could see you would prove highly embarrassing.

@KoopaKabana I've got nothing but positive comments from my car, even in it's shitty condition
you don't get comments because everybody and their sister has a newer bmw.
flskimskatesurf 1 year ago
@KoopaKabana and the irony in that post is that, my sister HAS a newer bmw.

@b4pl When old Top Gear ended Channel Five half-inched all the old presenters (VBH, Tiff and Wilson) to create Fifth Gear. Not long later new Top Gear arrived with Clarkson and co
