@anjaliss Thus, Lysacek didn't surpass Plushenko in artistry according to judges. Plushenko's some jumps were shaky in landing but fully-rotated. Evan got mistakes such as wrong flip-edge and slight underrotation for triple axel. Also the score gap in other elements(spins, steps, etc) were very small between two skaters. Besides, Lysacek is the first Olympic winner without quad since 1994.
@anjaliss In music interpretion, Plushenko got 8.75 while Evan 8.40. The reason why people still think Plushenko as the winner is that Lysacek was estimated better in his technical part. Lysacek not only didn't attempt quadruple jump, but also made many mistakes in his 3A, 3A-2T(-0.40), and 3A-2T-2T(-0.56). Judges did not take these jump mistakes into consideration for PROGRAM COMPONENT SCORE
From NY Times ( /2010/02/20/sports/olympics/20longman.html) : Lysacek received only a judges warning for a wrong-edged takeoff on his triple flip, not a 2- or 3-point deduction that would have changed the outcome, which was narrowly decided in his favor by 257.67 points to 256.36. Evan has underrotated 3Axel, he got +GOE, not deduction. Why? Evgeni has deduction on of the 3A! Therefore we say that Evgeni is the real Oly winner! Evan real place 3.(Evgeni, Daisuke, Evan ) Sorry!
@lala630312 He did land quads in the past...I am just sorry that he's being criticised so hard about this. I love Plushenko, I do, but this time I agree with the judges. Evan was perfect, without a quad. Evgenji was not perfect with a quad...so, it all comes down to what you value. Ice skating is primarilly artistry to me, but this is only my own opinion...I think all athletes should be respected anyway...
@anjaliss He said in press conference 2009 :"I think it's important that we try to promote athletes working on the quad i know it's very dangerous element it's dangerous to train it, it's dangerous try in competition." US media excuses: poor Laysacek, he broke his leg last year, that why he didn't attempt the quad.. He never landed perfect quad. He landed in 2007, he has two foot landed. Sorry, he hasn't Oly champ level program. But his WASN'T perfect program, only the judges not want to see!
@anjaliss Well, Plushenko did two perfect 4t-3t in both short and free programs. He got 0.80 bonus points for his 4-3 combo in his free program. This means judges marked his 4-3 perfect-neither two-foot nor underrotated. Also judges outmarked Plushenko in terms of artistry and music interpretation, In the long program, Plushenko received 8.80 for his hi performance/Execution, while Lysacek 8.50
Did he do this interview on Feb 23rd? So does that mean he went to do the interview with Larry King and then came back to Van for the closing ceremonies?
Lysacek you are a shame for Olympics skating! Plushenko is the real winner!
