@HomerSETH9 Pitt was hired because he communicates Bill's charisma in a similar manner, not because he looks like Bill. All good movies hire actors this way.
@MadPutz Pitt wasn't "hired"... he produced the movie. Brad wanted to make a movie about billy beane after reading a book about him and the oakland A's, he couldn't put the book down and contacted billy saying he wanted to make a movie about it.
@OldTownHits True, thanks for correcting me on that. Even so, Pitt is a smart guy and as producer he wouldn't have assigned himself the role if he was a total mismatch - which is the point I was trying to get at for HomerSETH.
@MadPutz agreed, sorry i didn't mean to come accross like i was taking away your point, if anything i wanted to support your comment by saying Brad actually wanted to make the movie and cast himself, therefore anyone saying that he wasn't right for the role because he doesn't look like billy beane needs to take it up with Brad himself ;)
@ooy2joo How is BIlly Beane a baseball god when he's never won a WS and his teams have been at .500 or below the last several years? There are plenty of present and past GMs with many WS under their belt who would probably ask the same question. Billy Beane has never even been to a WS let alone win one. A baseball god?
@Tommygun1028 hes not a baseball god, but hes been a very successful GM. hes won 5 or 6 division titles and the 2001 wild card to the mariners who won 116 games while we won 101 games. we're the only team besides the yankees to win 100 games back to back years this decade and all the years the a's lost in the first round were to 2 championship yankee teams and a red sox team that was argubly the best in baseball at the time and to the best minnesota twins team in 20 years and took em all 5 games
@bizzles44 although he didn't make it to the world series, he did change the game of baseball. as he said himself, before moneyball, baseball thinking was medieval... only basing a player on their physical "5 tool" ability. however, he proved that this theory that the "old men scouts" believed was the best way to assemble a team that can win games. however, you would know this if you read the book by michael lewis." undervalued and "defective" players with plate discipline could also win games.
@Tommygun1028 with the budget the A's have had he has done an amazing job. As for their receent teams, it is hard to compete for players with the redsox when they have a massive warchest. Mind you I am a redsox fan, and I am aware if Billy beane didn't exist the redsox wouldn't have won in 04 or 07. So in conclusion you are dumb

At least A's fans appreciate their GM and team.
There is a certain other AL West team whose fans (particularily those on a blog not worth mentioning) are a bunch of spoiled rotten brats.
