Okay, this is just laughable. The singer sounds like he's 16, the melodies are weak, the guitar tone is thin and empty, the syncopation is cheesy; there's nothing brutal about it. A lot of these newer metal fans seem to think so, but that's probably because they haven't bothered to listen to the bands that first defined brutality in extreme metal.

One does not need to be a musician in order to appreciate music. I know enough about theory, projection and production value, however, to deduct that their attempt at heaviness is superficial at best. It's like mainstream heaviness in a way; safe for consumption, but still somewhat menacing.

First of all, that's not an opinion, that's a question, and a badly worded question at that. Second, screaming is a huge part of metal now, it's an extremely popular way of expressing yourself in your metal. Melodic singing is still widely used too.
If you don't like it that's fine, just don't listen to it!

Calling unearth metalcore isnt an insult, they are metal core, they have metal elements and hardcore elements, when metallica first came out they fused thrash with british heavy metal, theres nothing wrong with fusing types of music together as long as you make it sound good, unless youre trying to fuse punk with country or some stupid shit ;)

Sure those bands are straight-up thrash, but Unearth isn't a generic gay metalcore band. They do have thrash riffs on their album, and they've toured with Slayer.

First of all, that's not an opinion, that's a question, and a badly worded question at that. Second, screaming is a huge part of metal now, it's an extremely popular way of expressing yourself in your metal. Melodic singing is still widely used too.
If you don't like it that's fine, just don't listen to it!
I really, really like this band though I must admit.....

sure screaming sounds badass, but if you're looking for singing in metal. look towards avenged sevenfold's 2 most recent albums, although Waking the Fallen is good too.
But yeah, there are plenty of Metal Singers. Corey Taylor is another good example. The drummer from Atreyu, if you're looking at bands that resemble unearth is some way, although not atreyu's newer material.

Calling unearth metalcore isnt an insult, they are metal core, they have metal elements and hardcore elements, when metallica first came out they fused thrash with british heavy metal, theres nothing wrong with fusing types of music together as long as you make it sound good, unless youre trying to fuse punk with country or some stupid shit ;)

as for the people giving out... ye arent being specific with the point there trying to make, i personal hate when i hear a band like atryu sing a song about a girl on the wrong side of the bed in a way that you would hear on a mainstream radio station. Metal is a pace you go when you dont want to be like everyone else eg.mainstream. but when mainstream comes into metal then metalers are just sticking up for there metal like.

Sure those bands are straight-up thrash, but Unearth isn't a generic gay metalcore band. They do have thrash riffs on their album, and they've toured with Slayer.
