any ideas if this update its only for like #G and 3GS maybe??

Your brother didn't have to do an update because MMS is not designed to work with the first iPhone. I don't know why. According to Apple, it's too slow or something. So yeah, it's only for 3G(S).

i updated my phone and i have the 3.1 update. its there but when i try to send a mms it wont send.

i don't know why they're stuck with at&t, just for example MMS exist on the French 3G network (Orange/Vodafone) since 2006 also live video conference on some phones like (Sony Ericsson K850 i) with 2 lenses one on each side (Back and Front) !!!!!! i think it's never gonna happen in the US lol

I know how to do it from my phone now.. but its a certain way you do it, but I want to do it from the messages app built on to my iphone

this is nice of apple to finally get this update to us, 2 years later. I really dont think its fair that I had to pay around 600 dollars for my 1st gen, and its capable of such little, compared to the new ones which cost 199. grrr

Slow ass ATT hasn't enabled MMS and won't until later this summer. So won't be seeing that icon until later this summer.

You'd be suprised how many people still have it. keep in mind it hasn't even been 2 years since apple released its first iphone. many 1st gen are still waiting till their 2 year contracts have expired.

for the iphone it was impossible because the ffirst generation iphone didn't (and still doesn't have the technology) to handle mms. the 3g however, does.
