Hell, If you know how to ride it is easy to keep the wheel down. I have raced my 07 r1, at stock wheelbase and went 6.28 in the 1/8 mile @ 120ish. I have also been around many cars that will roll up any bike you put against it...I have been rolled up by my buddies vette, and I know how to ride.

Bikes can be beaten in a straight over a 1/2 long pretty easily, thats all about aerodynamics. The bike will almost always win on acceleration if you rollon from 50mph or less, thats all about power to weight. Once bikes hit 140ish they slow down...alot and thats when a car will pass them up. Bikes don't have to be rebuilt often which is nice though.

You need to realize, motorcycles are just engine and you you can get to 210 mph in 17 sec. on a bike if you're wearing proper gear and you have the know how.

couple things...hes got way more then 10k in the engine. first off likly at least 3k in just the turbo system, closer to 8 or more in engine with fuel upgrades and stand alone engine management. but that doesnt matter. for that matter it doesnt matter whether he wins or loses. making a car capable of keeping any bike in his windshield like that is nuts. and from a roll...wow. at the drag strip, a set of clicks on the car and its probebly a 9 sec. or better car, bike wouldnt keep up anyway.
3k for a cheap turbo setup, depending on what brand and size you get, the turbo itself is probably 3200 or better, then all the pipes and fittings and such
well i say at least 3k just because if you build the whole thing yourself its doo able, you buy a kit it goes way up. A good quality turbo by itself is between 900-1500 bucks, but that all depends on what your doing, and you dont need to spend that to make stupid power, just helps with reliability. if you buy a kit from a name brand company like helion your turbo kit will cost 5000 plus for a single turbo.

He's in a fox body mustang, he most definitely probably doesn't have more than 10 grand in it, especially with a large turbo from a roll. They do not cost that much, and the engine work is pretty cheap for the most part as well. He may have 5-6k in the motor.

@joshbethaking actually you dont need the clutch. You have to lift the shift lever at the exact point when engine load comes off the gears. It's the point between acceleration and deceleration when you let off the throttle. If you try to shift while there's any accel or decel load on the gears, it'll be hard, or impossible to do. It's a timing thing that you just learn after a while. It definitely can be done without putting stress on the bike.
If the mustang would have rolled up his windows he would have beat him. But if the gsxr would have word something other than shorts he would have been close.

@305MANKILLA: I ride a VROD (1130cc) It dyno'd out @ 115HP/70TQ. It's pretty quick considering the bike weighs 650+.lbs. A 1000cc sportbike has anywhere from 160 to 190hp & weighs 450+.lbs. It's a big power difference between the VROD & a Jap bike so you'll have to decide which one will fit your needs. I like to cruise & romp on it every now & again. So the VROD is perfect for what I want.
Don't get an 1000 for the beginning..you are going to fuck you up..start with an 250 (kawasaki Ninja 250R) is great. or maybe an older 125 or 250 cc ( preused). Doesn't cos that much anymore. Buy and wear Gear all the Time !! From Helmet to Boots ! if you have 1 Year expirience on an small bike you can go to an 600. It doesn't have to be an 1000 always !

@KRFactor14 Not using the cluch while upshifting isn't a bad thing. Try giving a little throttle when shifting while feathering the clutch to keep RPM in your power band while the speed climbs. Experienced riders use this to get the power they need without the front end coming up. I learned this on an old 1978 CB750 and it still applies to new bikes. The 500 pound 750 gives 900s a good run for their money. Believe me.

couple things...hes got way more then 10k in the engine. first off likly at least 3k in just the turbo system, closer to 8 or more in engine with fuel upgrades and stand alone engine management. but that doesnt matter. for that matter it doesnt matter whether he wins or loses. making a car capable of keeping any bike in his windshield like that is nuts. and from a roll...wow. at the drag strip, a set of clicks on the car and its probebly a 9 sec. or better car, bike wouldnt keep up anyway.

well i say at least 3k just because if you build the whole thing yourself its doo able, you buy a kit it goes way up. A good quality turbo by itself is between 900-1500 bucks, but that all depends on what your doing, and you dont need to spend that to make stupid power, just helps with reliability. if you buy a kit from a name brand company like helion your turbo kit will cost 5000 plus for a single turbo.

He's in a fox body mustang, he most definitely probably doesn't have more than 10 grand in it, especially with a large turbo from a roll. They do not cost that much, and the engine work is pretty cheap for the most part as well. He may have 5-6k in the motor.

@joshbethaking actually you dont need the clutch. You have to lift the shift lever at the exact point when engine load comes off the gears. It's the point between acceleration and deceleration when you let off the throttle. If you try to shift while there's any accel or decel load on the gears, it'll be hard, or impossible to do. It's a timing thing that you just learn after a while. It definitely can be done without putting stress on the bike.

@305MANKILLA: I ride a VROD (1130cc) It dyno'd out @ 115HP/70TQ. It's pretty quick considering the bike weighs 650+.lbs. A 1000cc sportbike has anywhere from 160 to 190hp & weighs 450+.lbs. It's a big power difference between the VROD & a Jap bike so you'll have to decide which one will fit your needs. I like to cruise & romp on it every now & again. So the VROD is perfect for what I want.

Don't get an 1000 for the beginning..you are going to fuck you up..start with an 250 (kawasaki Ninja 250R) is great. or maybe an older 125 or 250 cc ( preused). Doesn't cos that much anymore. Buy and wear Gear all the Time !! From Helmet to Boots ! if you have 1 Year expirience on an small bike you can go to an 600. It doesn't have to be an 1000 always !

@Xz313: Or a 750cc. They have too much power for a beginner. I knew a kid (years ago) who killed himself on a GSX-R 750. He got on it & went about 300 feet lost control & hit a tree. Massive internal injuries, he looked fine @ the crash site. He just told the cops that he was in alot of pain. 3 hours later he was dead. He was a good kid, not a squid by any stretch of the imagination. He just couldn't handle a 750cc & he died as a result.

All anyone cares about (who don't ride) is how much hp, how much power, how much cc, who fast, top speed. It's about the ride. Start small, work your way up, learn the bike. Squid on the GSXR makes me laugh. He has GP shifting (aka 1 up 5 down) but uses the clutch when up-shifting... FAIL

@KRFactor14 Not using the cluch while upshifting isn't a bad thing. Try giving a little throttle when shifting while feathering the clutch to keep RPM in your power band while the speed climbs. Experienced riders use this to get the power they need without the front end coming up. I learned this on an old 1978 CB750 and it still applies to new bikes. The 500 pound 750 gives 900s a good run for their money. Believe me.
