Wow! Nobody seems to understand what this song is really saying. It's actually taking a playful jab at men who find humour and entertainment in the oddest (in women's eyes) things and then it encourages women to just stick with him because "he's just a man" and doesn't know any better. Although this song may have been interpreted as a message for women to take a submissive role in the relationship, I think the lyrics can still be valuable today. The idea for a woman to stand by her man and show the whole world she loves him is still valid. The key in any relationship is to get rid of the allusion that it's a 50/50 deal. The truth is, relationships are 100/100. Each person give everything they have to achieve something greater than either could alone.

Seeing this rendition totally made me change my opinion of this song. Unlike Tammy Wynette who was known to be married to a cheat, Carrie doesn't bring that baggage to the stage with her. I liked her, I enjoyed the song once more.

An observation: Carrie sounded great, and I think this performance shows just how much emphasis is put in todays' industry, on always sustaining long notes and pouring on the vibrato.

Tammy Wynette's performances certainly had sustained notes, but were

comparatively devoid of the now "Industry Standard" flawless vibrato.

Could be in the industry, talent and originality in writing has been replaced by demonstrating vocal skills?
