Oh how I would love to be able to have Mitzi and share endless hours together. I am on disability due to migraine headaches, but live vicariously through YouTube since I have no pets now. Thank you for sharing.
My 18 yo CAG, Scooter is in love with Mitzy. He is also a plucker but never does when I turn Mitzy on for him. He has a very extensive vocabulary also and has finally found another CAG that he wants to converse with. He yells at me to turn Mitzy back on whenever he misses her. Scooter is looking forward to any new videos of Mitzy.
Oh how parrots make me laugh :) My good friend has a african grey called Lano and she's so funny. Parrot's are so much smarter than people give them credit for. That's sad. They are so clever and precious!
Bird Lovers Only Rescue, a 501c3 charity, is currently raising funds to build an addition for the birds. Your donations are tax deductible. Please use the following information to claim the donations on your taxes at the end of the year:
Please visit our main web site where you can receive Snowball DVDs, shirts, and other items in return for your donations. Thank you so very much for your support!!!
Irena: This video is hilarious, too! I read your comment on the 2 African grays, the husband and wife couple, and that sounds just too funny. You should post that video here - now THAT would be really super funny!
Snowball is global & lives with Irena & all these babies at the rescue. Just think, if everyone watching these video's would just give one dollar ($1.00) how quickly that would add up to help build this bird habitat. I know that the money Irena gets for Christmas & birthdays all goes to the habitat fund instead of on herself. Think of how little you can do with $1.00 but added up how much good it could do.
Yes, they actually do! We have two special needs african greys (one only has one eye, the other is lame in both legs). One has the wife's voice, the other has the husband's voice and the wife nags the husband and all he says is "what?!?" and "ok." It's too funny to listen to the nagging!!! Some of the other birds talk to each other too...and the phrases FIT, so you tell me if they know what they're saying to one another. Incredible!
lol thats funny. it would probably be histarical when u first hear it. then i guess u would get used to it. lol. ya its amazing that they know what to say. i find it very intersting..and proof that they are smarter animals then more people give them credit for.
The African Greys we have here at the sanctuary are proud of their abilities to imitate burps and other "bodily noises." And I won't go into any more detail than that.
lol @ proud of their abilitys..to imatate. thats funny. very cute. so do she ever get out of her cage? im happy to hear that she had a loving and caring owner. what happen to them that they could nolonger keep her? just curious. she seems like a happy girl! thats awsome. love the phone rings.
Yes, we let the birds out twice during the day for 4 to 5 hours at a time. They go back in for meals/snacks and for when we have to clean since some are aggressive towards the volunteers/cleaning people/visitors/etc.
They imitate 'body noises' a little too well. LOL We have to make sure that people coming to visit or adopt understand where the "noise" just came from. It's been embarrassing sometimes. LOL The owners just became busy and could not devote time to her so she began plucking.
aww..well she seems very happy with you. thats so awsome that there are caring people like you out there. i hate to hear birds being abused by owners and ect. they are lil soles that need lots of love and attention.and if u dont have the time u shouldnt have one. but people jsut dont seem to get that..i hope one day there will be no need for rescue sactuarys. i have a dream to start one.

There certainly seems to be a need for more because of the overbreeding of some species. The larger birds are so high maintenance (especially the toos) that people purchase them and then relinquish them within a few years because of their neediness and demand for attention. Running a rescue/sanctuary is a LOT of hard work. I work over 80 hrs/wk including weekends and holidays...it's never ending. It's something you have to LOVE to do in order to keep up with it.
sorry for double post..sometimes this computer is evil..lol.
ya i know..and i have 3 birds of my own. ive worked in petstores..and ect, its hard work and dedication. i commned you for what u do and have alot of respect for you. It would hurt me to see them hurt..but would make me feel better knowing they were getting better when they are with you. Keep up the good work. the birdys thank you from the bottem of they lil hearts. it shows you do good stuff with them.
ROFL!!! he copies the cat voice just like mine! I think this one is cuter that snowball : ) but what has happened to his chest? I don't see much feather!!
She was plucking her chest feathers, but has grown most of them back in since the filming of this video. We have so many birds with unique personalities here and they're all wonderful in their own special way.
Oh! so it's a she! sorry XD! one day I found my parrot's head with almost no feather!! I dunno how did she pluck it! but now it's all grown. but why would a bird do this? is it some kind of disease? O__O
The most common reason for no feathers on a bird's head is another bird picking on him/her. During breeding season a male can get overly aggressive towards another bird because of hormones. If there was no other bird, then I'd suspect some sort of illness.
Mitzi has an incredible vocabulary. She carries on one way conversations NON STOP! The previous owner was obviously a very happy and loving person because of the fact that Mitzi laughs a LOT and also says many endearing things! We love listening to Mitzi chit chat throughout the day.
so cute!

Even though we've gotten used to it, it's still funny to hear her shout her husband's name in anger and have him reply "What!"
