I am a lifelong Republican. Last year I walked into George Washington University Hospital ER to request a refill on a routine prescription. I have a high deductible so I was going to pay out of pocket. I said "I'm not going to use insurance since my deductible is so high".
They replied "In that case, the charge for the visit will be between $450 and $650". I declined and was eventually charged $180 for unnecessary yet mandated heart rate and blood pressure tests.
