I notice the names John Goldstone and John du Prez in the credits. Both of them worked with the Pythons on 'Life of Brian' and 'The Meaning of Life'. There's another Python connection for you!
@verkaforever I never read the books, my grandmother showed me this when i was 5. I remembered it and so i went looking for it again, but i study aerospace and aviation studies, so that last part made me smile, combined with that good song ^ ^
@mrgoodygoodygumdrop In the book, Toad turns over a new leaf, and stops having crazes. I think the ending where he finds a craze he is good at is much happier. The last part also made me smile- especially when he Sun said "Careful, Toad".
I will always love this film! Will never ever get over it. I love how this involved nearly all the Pythons without it having the Python brand.... I feel like the ending song is like a tribute to the Python friendship and this film was a celebration of that :) I love how they had new faces too, especially Steve Coogan. He absolutely NAILED the role of Mole and the casting was so damn perfect! No future re-make will ever duplicate the brilliance of this film xx
@sraphael You are so right. If I tried to watch the 80's version it bores me. This was my favourite film as a child and will always be one of my favourites. No other adaptation will never beat it!
Loved it! Even though it changed seasons within two days and the bit with the explosives made not the slightest bit of sense, you can't complain when the cast is as awesome as they were :']
I can't find the end song Miracle of friends. I have been searching for it for a long time now, but haven't found it yet. could anyone upload only the end song? I can only find the other songs on youtube, the end song is the only one missing (excuse my bad English)
@TailsTheSilverFox it is called Miracle of Friends but unforunately none of the songs were ever available on cd but I am in the process of seeing if i can isolate the music on dvd and upload it for all fans.
What puzzles me is how they Chief Weasel managed to blow the factory up. OK, they switched the labels on the barrels, but the weasels would still have had to wire them up!
it just occurred to me, wouldn't it have been funny if when the Chief Weasel was up there waiting with the detonator and Toad called up to him he shouted:
"Hello, daffy Monsieur Toad who has the brain of a duck, you know! So us weasels outwit you yet again! You thought you could out clever us weasels with your silly knees-bent, running about, and bouncing behaviors!"
I never heard of this film before 2 days ago! I was Linked to the "Secret of Survival" video buy a member of another fleet in a game I play. He said we should adopt it as our fleet anthem. Our fleet is called the Wild Weasels! I loved the video and finally watched the whole film! wonderful interpretation of :The Wind and the Willows" !!! BTW - I love the weasels - Pound for pound they are baddest animals on Earth!
the weasels and chief weasel were so awsome and evil
shame i didnt watch this movie sooner cos i definently would have put them on my top 20 movie villains list at number 18 for the weasels and 11 for the chief weasel.
Haha, I think Clarence was the baddest out of the weasels, he being to smartest and most controlling. Had the weasels won, he probably would have taken over. Alas, the weasels survived at the end, didn't they? Their still may be hope.....
Thanks for uploading - I'd only ever heard of this film, and it's wonderful to actually see it. It's actually a really good film! Shame it isn't more well known.
Thanks for posting this! Steve Coogan and Eric Idle are two of my favorite actors and they were pretty adorable here lol... and Badger was pretty dang epic. |D
I remember seeing a play of this at a school somewhere. But for the life of me all I can remember is Mr. Toad running from a weasel and then pointing and shouting "Look! A distraction!"
In the lobby of the art-house theater where I was fortunate to see this, they'd posted an article about how Terry Jones was unable to find a major studio to distribute this in the U.S.,including Disney-----they bought "Big Indian,Little City" but passed on THIS?-----imagine my surprise when I first saw "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" in the family section at Blockbuster!!!
Brilliant! BRILLIANT! I suddently remembered a whole lot of stuff from my childhood. But, what is that last song called? The ending theme. Sends shivers down my spine, it does. The good kind of shivers.
I grew up with this film TERRY JONES IS AMAZING!

Rat makes me laugh when his whiskers go funny, especially at the end. How many times did his whiskers do that in the movie? I lost count.
