Carnival Fantasy Mississippi river. Ship breaks down

@DuskbatRabbit It's pretty awesome down here! I live in a small town called Buras, we probably have a population of around 1,000 at the most! I know all of the cruise's schedules from New Orleans. Lol. One day I'll go on the levee and take a video of one of the ships passing! It's very pretty and interesting to watch them

Fantasy is no longer in New Orleans. She's left in 11/09. Triumph sails from NOLA year-round, and Carnival is looking at placing a second ship in New Orleans in 2012. In fall 2011, NCL will home-port one of its ships in New Orleans year-round instead of 6 months per year, and at the same time, Royal Caribbean will bring the Voyager of The Seas to New Orleans for six months on an annual basis. Our cruise port, which was the U.S.'s fastest growing before Katrina, has finally made a come back!

The Fantasy is replacing the Holiday in Mobile until May 2010; at which point it will reposition to Charleston permanently sailing on 4, 5 and 7 night cruises to the Bahamas and Key West.

Fantasy is pretty nice for an older Carnival ship. It is older (1990) but has been pretty well renovated. Cabins are nice. Good bedding, flat screen TVs. It has Waterworks with one big water slide and two smaller ones. The lido deck restaurant is all newly renovated. We liked it.  Much nicer than Holiday, I think. Holiday is gone, btw...transferred to Spain to sail with Iberocruceros.

leaving out of new orleans is fun, out of my 3 cruises 2 of them where out of no, lol. but yeah, i was on the norwegian spirit (out of new orleans of course) and she listed back and forth as well, it's because of all the tight turns the ships has to make. but i found out that one of the spirit's engines was broken, lol. i was wondering what all that junk was laying out at the port. ;) but great vid, i'm glad that you got to finish you cruise.

I love how you look on the bright side "i wouldn't have seen this is the boat hadn't broken down" good for you...going on this cruise April 4th. We stayed in Ft. Morgan last year and could see the cruise ship passing by...we hope to see it from the other side this year.

I am going on this ship in May. Did you have a safe trip overall? Any more breakdowns? Did the crew tell you what caused the listing and breakdown? At least you were still in the river! Great video.

very safe trip. we made up time full speed. crew told us nothing other then it was like just changing a flat tire. at our first port of call i saw them unloading about a tonn of broken pipes. have a great cruise. free sushi on the ship ;)
