Just listen to the words, loved this band then, love Corey Day now - always had such an innocent voice "like so many tse, tse flies, damaging merchandise" classic
@PositveBlackBrothers Me and my best girlfriend love them, and people called us weirdos. She listens to them @ work, and her co-workers thinks she crazy! People with no culture make me itchy.....
I used to listen to this song on repeat to help me get to sleep. The summer before sophomore year, if I could repeat it I would just to hear these songs late at night and appreciate them the way I did then.
The imagery of the lyrics alone have won me over. It makes sense that August Darnell was once a teacher. ........and the music , well it speaks for itself....classy sophisticated and gorgeously arranged
I was always impressed by the use of what sounds like a large orchestra being used to create ambient sounds of traffic. I can see why this band were compared with Roxy Music. The music paints sonic pictures and nostalgia in the same manner Bryan Ferry envisaged when he gathered his melting pot of classical, post-war pop, and avant-garde futurism. The musicianship and craftsmanship here is astonishing. I still await a reissue of their third and IMO, their best album.
I was enjoying a nocturnal interlude listening to the CD version of this song just three nights ago. Didn't know all Dr. Buzzard's stuff was over here, much less this exquuiiiisssiitttte piece here! Lain out on the floor having a nocturnal interlude...!
