I wonder what Simon Cowell would make of this. It's rubbish in my opinion and this bloke has more rubbish moments than good. I don't know how he became a success.
@SauronsEye Don't worry too much if you don't get it. It takes an elevated mind to do so. But hey, you're in luck because i think The Jersey Shore is on in a few minutes. XD
WTF? Seriously. Strange. Dude. Can't help loving this number. Not sure why because it's based on the most irritating theme park attraction ever but... Kaufman makes it endearing.
He is the best of the best Nobody can match now adays sorry james (AKA) Jim carrey) Thumbs up if u can agree dont just judge on one single vid alone Thumbs up if u agree James i know u do He is has in fact one of your Role modles
His Comedy was Art, living in his own world making the audience wonder when was he really meanning seriously or joking, which made his show entertainment unique... Andy Kaufman forever!!!!!
@czam73 Andy's main mystery is other people not knowing his real personality. He has distorted it completely. All his personalities are him really. His other mystery is whether he is really dead. He might come back unexpectedly one day and make it the greatest act in history! He isn't so much a comedian, the comedy is a side effect of his performances that are usually uncomfortable for an audience. At the end of it all, its Andy that is laughing the most. :D
Does anybody have Andy and the B Street Conga Band doing "I Whistle a Happy Tune?" I remember seeing it on the Dick Van Dyke variety show in the 70's. It's even funnier than this.
spankysteez,, it was a simple time. I grew up in the 70's and things were better,, ppl were happier with what they had, and we did not have the technology that exists today. People actually talked to one another, instead of texting and computer email. When you got "mail",,, someone had actually written you a letter. Things weren't so fast. But,, we also were in the middle of Vietnam,, and had the "gas lines" etc. Every decade has it's troubles,, no one ever sees that til they look back
what ever happened to the meaningful, friendly lyrics that kaufman professed? makes me wish i was alive in the 60s and 70s. the world seemed like a less violent place
they are the lyrics from disney's 'its a small world' ride. The world was a very violent place in the 60s and 70s. But at least some people were trying to stop the violence.
What??? It's a Disney song done to African drums for humor. What's racial about that? It could have just as easily been Austrian accordions or Swiss pipes and you wouldn't have said anything about this skit being racial.
You also said, "USA's racial election year!"
Now that does sound like a racist comment to me. Why you see racism in the Andy Kaufman video is because you see your own prejudice in it, not Andy's.
how is this racial, the black guys in the background look really cool and tough from the jazzy part of town while Andy is making himself look like an idiot, you tell me who is being offended, and the only racial thing about this year's election are the people who think it is, like Neil6000 said, its there for humor
I agree I find Andy highly amusing. But many people don't get his humor. I have figured either you love him and consider him one of the funniest people ever or you don't get him and everything goes way over your head. He died before I was born (im 21) but my dad introduced me to him at a young age and I think he is arguably the funniest person ever. Much funnier than the people out there now anyway.
when andy played the improv, he brought the one who had the turkey sandwich up on stage and started calling him "baldy" and etc, it's in the video "andy on hbo part 4 of 4"
I always loved this conga bit. I believe Andy called them the E Street Conga Band. They performed on the variety show, "Van Dyke and Company." They performed a version of "I Whistle a Happy Tune" that's hysterical.
ONly and Only Jim Carey could play him in a movie, and it was genius!
