OPERATION MINDCRIME belongs up there with the big guys. The album was released at a time when everybody thought concepts were dead and buried. The live shows were amazing, precise with great sound, not something that would go without saying in the late 80's. It's a classic that will stand time. Unfortunately the album was THAT good that from then on everybody expected QR to top it with every release. But look at DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and what followed - perfection can't be topped.

mindcrime was like one of the best albums in the 80's and is like one of the best albums EVER! operation mindcrime holds up just as good today as it did back in the day.. queensryche were WAY ahead of their time. and they are still rocking today!
It was 1988, I was on tour with my band...someone gave Operation:Mindcrime to our drummer but there was no information that came with the tape...the guy just said..."you guys have to listen to this concept album from Queensryche". With a long drive from Daytona Beach to Lansing Michigan ahead of us, we popped the cassette in the car stereo and litterally listened to it over and over again until we fully understood the plot. I'll never forget those times in my life. Thanks QR for the memories!
Amazing show! Does anyone know if they filmed tracks other than the ones off mindcrime? They had a pretty large set on this tour just wondered if they filmed the whole thing but just didnt release it on livecrime for some reason.
@DanAstonMusic, I think they did, but it wasn't for a DVD though. I think the other tracks (there's one for "The Lady Wore Black" & "Resistance") were just for promotional purposes.

One of the things I love about Queensryche, on top having the best vocal and instrumental work around, is that their music has a timeless relevance. Every song from the politically charged album Operation Mind Crime could easily apply to today's time. In a world rife with music that is a testament to insipid narcissism, with simplistic melodies, it is nice that we can look back to bands like Queensryche for instrumental virtuosity and socially conscience music.

Thanks for the trip back, Saw them in Spokane at the old arena. After the concert they asked the audience to stay because they wanted live shots for thier next video. Hell if I can remember the song though. Still one of the best concerts ever and I've seen a million !!

I saw them open up for Metallica on the ..and justice for all tour in either 1987 or '88 in Lubbock, Texas. Can't decide which act I liked more! Mindcrime is, to me, one of the greatest metal albums of all time.

Had this album on tape in my Walkman , back in 1987 , on my honeymoon. Operation Mindcrime on one side and Def Leppard Hysteria on the other. Both albums still holds to this day...And so does my Wife.:-) Rock on.
