The X-Chicks appearance was cool, and so was the final battle where Wolverine is just like 'Sabertooth deserved what he got.'. However the game is a bit frustrating... I wanted it so bad as a kid and would have never liked it but also wouldn't have admitted I hated it at the times.
i saw acgamesonline's uncanny x-men... these shouldnt be looked at as true speed run's because he doesnt admit he's using game genie. obviously using :
-Take less damage from bullets.
-Claws use up no energy.
Nor did he rescue psyloke, jubulee or havok... maybe another cheat device? whatever it is, its quite clear he didnt do all this fairly.
This had the makings of a solid platformer. It's a shame that LJN had to make a few stupid design decisions (the claws and the lack of hit recovery time especially).
The Graphics and Sound were above average for an 8-bit LJN (Acclaim). The game was designed poorly (control, too hard, hit detection) with a weak plot.
Thats why LJN and a number of other companies made these crappy games off popular franchises cause they feel that kids don't know any better and they rip them off! When we grow up, we are like "what the hell were we thinking?!" Most likely as a child we know when a game is bad after playing with it for 20 minutes and we can't get pass the first (or second) level and its not because its a challenge. It just sucks. This and Uncanny X-Men are prime examples.
Every time he pops his claws, it cuts through his skin, COME ON! that was in the comics man, when he discovered he had bone claws after Magneto's Metal-Extractin' good time.
AVGN did a review of two terrible NES games from LJN, "X-Men" and this game. I've never played this game on an NES emulator, the ending was so stupid. The final boss was lame, because he knocked Sabretooth off the pit, just like the Old Queen from "Snow White" where it got struck by lightning and fell down. I'll play that.
Here, fighting Magneto was lame and very weak. This looks like the easiest game to defeat Magneto (and he runs away after a few hits), because all other games, Uncanny X-Men for NES, The 4-6 player arcade game, Mutant Apocalypse, X-men for Sega Genesis, and Children Of The Atom...Magneto was hard as fuck to defeat!
That's it? That's the game?

Gotta give credit tot he final boss battle puzzle: You have to knock him off, rather than punch him to death.

And the question mark leaves it open for a sequel......?

What kind of craptastic ending? I mean, Sabertooth falls to his death, close up shot of Logan, and that's it.....Wow.....

And you expected better from LJN because?

Come to think of it....I don't...If anything the only redeeming factor of their Marvel games is that the Follins did the music.

the main theme is hard. i'd remake that and rap to it

Why in god's name does it hurt Wolverine to use his claws? I used to love this game..but then again I used to be an idiot too.

@APTKANE82
Allow me to answer your question with this exchange between Rogue and Wolverine taken from the first X-men film:
Rogue: [regarding Wolverine's claws] When they come out, does it hurt?
Wolverine: Every time.

@DurableName
Rogue: Wait don't you have some sort of healing mutant power as well?
Wolverine: I thought so too.

Glad to finally see how it ends!

Now that I notice:
They used the same damn sprites for the "Spiderman & X-Men" game (And that is on Snes)... How lame of them, even the animation is the same.

why does it hurt wolverine when he stabs someone on here???
mzzsharita08 3 years ago 2
Well, according to some of the comics, Wolverine feels pain whenever his claws pop out, mzzsharita08.
However, seeing as how this is a video game, it was likely designed this way in order to increase the game's difficulty level.

Wolverine beat Magneto? That's disappointing.

"The End?" Enjoy the still-screen of Wolverine unmasked and a game over screen. Reminds me of the time I finished this game.
