@kths48 Valente trained under Inosanto, and trained with Carruthers, Vunak and Paulson. Inosanto said Valente was the best of his students and actually was the only one brave enough to go into MMA while Carruthers did sport karate, and Vunak just made videos.
So I give Valente credit on that, but that's the best JKD can do

Krauseworld is not free of course you pay for classesetcSteve & Mike are professionals but anyone will tell you last thing they are focused on is money. Compare to Tommy's place-expensive signature line equipment(signature 'Y-fronts' w/picture coming soon),very expensive online training club,expensive seminars when he gets people over, he charges lot to do seminars for others, etc. Krauses are not money grabbers they do it for love of martial arts & to see people improving in life and in m arts.

Stop telling lies.I was at there shiotworld gym in Robertson st and paid up front for a yrs training in jkd but after a few months of having to buy kali sticks and other non-related jkd items i left as it was obvious from what i saw that there was no jkd being taught.
Steve & Mike Krause have done a lot for the community in Glasgow & surrounding area.Students of theirs have used it for real against violent street attacks.They're not even concerned with money, sure lessons etc aren't free big place etc but they've let students keep training for free when unemployed etc without having to pay it back later, they've even let a student that was homeless stay at the centre -go tell Tommy you've lost your home can I stay at training hall he'll boot you in the arse.

If you want to learn authentic pure JKD the way Bruce Lee intended it to be taught I'd recommend Krauseworld, but train at both then experience the difference for yourself.

thmx100 do you even know who the Krauses are? they are regarded as legends in the martial arts, you are wrongto speak for Tommy I'm sure he has great respect for them - they were training in and teaching JKD many years before Tommy was, and they are well known to be better martial artists than him. At the time Steve & Mike Krause were regarded as two of the best in the UKTA, alongside Teh, etc. That was before lot of splits and politics of course. For many years Mike & Steve were only people teaching JKD in the area, they were actively teaching it long before Tommy Carruthers came on the scene. People are murdered everyday in every country in the entire world for no reason. Try walking home from work in the bad end of glasgow or los angeles at midnight and maybe you'll understand better. Sifu Carruthers undercharges for his services in my experience, and is very generous to his students and his community. His teachings are the best because he dedicates himself to being the best he can be. If he wanted to be rich he could've sold out a long time ago but didn't.
I mean no disrespect for Tommy or anyone else here, but this video is fairly sensationalist. When people see things like this they go live in gated communities, install cctv, act paranoid and see the appeal of ASBOs. No that there isn't crime, of course.
true.. but there are times in everyones lives where the ability to survive and defend is important. I read recently about an estate where a young gang raped a 15 year old girl and passers by did nothing (out of fear).. If enough good people new how to handle themselves they would have been able to do something.. thats why I think this kind of thing is a positive thing and not to be shunned!

you can find the fees on tommy's webpage. The online lesson provided me with loads of valuable information and found it so far better than those instructional vids that usually are available on the market.
the semi at his school was for free and lasted 6hrs and he was offering free workshops for a while.
i personally met him and can say he's a very generous person i never felt what he charged was expensive compared to the guys where i live. just my 5 cent.
Im not sure up to when bruce charged nothing for his lessons if im right he was unemployed and living in james lee's house for free and might have needed the cash to eaze the pain for not being a great support for the family. i saw in a book a business card of his offering 10 lessons for 1000$ i could hardly believe it myself when i saw this.
He was only charging so much when he found out that celebrities had money to throw around. He was initially going to charge them $25 per lesson untill he was told that he should charge more.
I doubt very much you have even met or spoken to Tommy. Otherwise you wouldnt of said such things that are so far from the truth. It wasn't so long ago that Tommy was doing FREE seminars for people all over the world provided they pay for his travel expenses. Bruce Lee closed his schools only trained his friends and charged $1000s of dollars for classes to celebs. Brandon went to Dan because Dan was world known and a full instructor. Where is Dan now though, he was booted out!
Yeah, but what about many of us who are not celebs? There's not enough reason for Carruthers to charge that kind of money to everyone. I'm sure he is an amazing teacher, and also the closest-thing to Bruce Lee in terms of physical condition and fighting ability. But he just ask too much money just for a few lessons.
I do not believe Tommy teaches celeb fees, If you ever get the oppotunity to train with him you would know its worth every penny, I've never felt any confusion or anything lacking from his instruction. If I was lucky enough to live in Glasgow I would be there training every night!
If he wanted to be rich he would be selling off instructorship certificates, and a world wide organization with 10s or 100s of memebers in each country like certain other JKD folks old and new...
...but no he has no instructors and 1 school in a basement in Glasgow, his teaching is how he feeds himself and his family, he isnt wizzing around the world in 1st class, he isnt a Bruce Lee wannabe either, you need to look closer at other intructors who obviously worship Bruce Lee, post his image everywhere, use the JKD or game of death colours on everything thing. Tommy seems to be the only one Walking On.
His methods are by far the best and most efficient. Actaully tested.
And for 3 months it's $125, that's only around 42 a month. Most martials arts school charge +$100 per month, while teaching watered down wing tsun, and terrible boxing.
If the onyl thing that drives you is the fear of getting hurt then you would do best to simply avoid dangerus places. It feels like overkill to spend years of dedicated training simply for self defence

@kths48 Valente trained under Inosanto, and trained with Carruthers, Vunak and Paulson. Inosanto said Valente was the best of his students and actually was the only one brave enough to go into MMA while Carruthers did sport karate, and Vunak just made videos.
So I give Valente credit on that, but that's the best JKD can do

At Krauseworld some ex students of Tommy Carruthers after initially having a good chuckle at them, thet cannot even do basic things right like Bai Jong stance, Straight Lead, etc. That's basics that they cannot even do correctly, and certainly nothing like JKD as Bruce Lee taught it. With practice they've learnt the right way but some has taken long time to iron out the things they learnt wrong at Tommy's. Thats the difference at Krauseworld it is authentic pure JKD as Bruce Lee taught it.

Heard it all now, Dan Inosanto does not teach or know JKD? He was Bruce's best friend & studied with him longer than anyone else. How do you explain Chris Kent, Tim Tackett, Yori Nakamura, Diana Inosanto, etc - all connected to Bruce Lee foundation and all taught by Dan Inosanto! Dan doesn't teach JKD yet he taught all of them, strange that. Many of Yori Nakamura's books & videos are nothing but JKD as Bruce Lee did it (& as Dan taught it to Yori).

Krauseworld is not free of course you pay for classesetcSteve & Mike are professionals but anyone will tell you last thing they are focused on is money. Compare to Tommy's place-expensive signature line equipment(signature 'Y-fronts' w/picture coming soon),very expensive online training club,expensive seminars when he gets people over, he charges lot to do seminars for others, etc. Krauses are not money grabbers they do it for love of martial arts & to see people improving in life and in m arts.

Steve & Mike Krause have done a lot for the community in Glasgow & surrounding area.Students of theirs have used it for real against violent street attacks.They're not even concerned with money, sure lessons etc aren't free big place etc but they've let students keep training for free when unemployed etc without having to pay it back later, they've even let a student that was homeless stay at the centre -go tell Tommy you've lost your home can I stay at training hall he'll boot you in the arse.

In one rough part of Glasgow even the criminals know better than to mess with Krause trained people,there they say'don't mess with those KDS' (they say Kids) talking about people there known to train at Krauseworld.The KDS-Krause Defence Systems is that feared& respected even criminals don't mess with people trained in it when they know they've done it.Just doing KDS10hour basic program will be equivalent to around a year or more at Tommy's place in learning real JKD you can use in the street.

If an Inter club tournament was organised Krauseworld would easily come out best over Tommys place. Krauseworld have much better more well rounded martial artists and fighters,& obviously Steve and Mike are much better than Tommy himself is. Free seminar, yes to get you in the door and sign up for his online fan club, buy his signature training equipment,or attend paid seminars in future.Who cares if he had not heard of Jesse Glover?Until recently there wasn't much on him in UK martial arts press,he had published a few books that were hard to find,&rarely did seminars in UK until Tommy and others started bringing him over.Many had no idea who he was at the time, & Glover does not teach JKD he broke away long before name existed.

Anyone in the area or any International students traveling to train with Tommy Carruthers, go train with him but be sure to also book free lesson at Krauseworld you need not even tell Tommy you have done so. Then decide for yourself which is better. If you want to learn authentic pure JKD the way Bruce Lee intended it to be taught I'd recommend Krauseworld, but train at both then experience the difference for yourself.

ps6251 if you trained at Rhee's you will know Hock Aun Teh (who started Tukido) , etc as well. At the time Steve & Mike Krause were regarded as two of the best in the UKTA, alongside Teh, etc. That was before lot of splits and politics of course. For many years Mike & Steve were only people teaching JKD in the area, they were actively teaching it long before Tommy Carruthers came on the scene. Have heard from several people that Tommy actually took lessons from Steve & Mike many years ago

Artistbytrade,1 i am in fact speaking from experience as i trained at krauseworld for 1year in 1995/96 when they were in Robertson st.I also trained at hte Rhee ki Ha, tae kwon do Renfrew st in the early 80s which is were i first came across them.Incidently they were laughed out of RTA.

People are murdered everyday in every country in the entire world for no reason. Try walking home from work in the bad end of glasgow or los angeles at midnight and maybe you'll understand better. Sifu Carruthers undercharges for his services in my experience, and is very generous to his students and his community. His teachings are the best because he dedicates himself to being the best he can be. If he wanted to be rich he could've sold out a long time ago but didn't.

I mean no disrespect for Tommy or anyone else here, but this video is fairly sensationalist. When people see things like this they go live in gated communities, install cctv, act paranoid and see the appeal of ASBOs. No that there isn't crime, of course.

true.. but there are times in everyones lives where the ability to survive and defend is important. I read recently about an estate where a young gang raped a 15 year old girl and passers by did nothing (out of fear).. If enough good people new how to handle themselves they would have been able to do something.. thats why I think this kind of thing is a positive thing and not to be shunned!

teaches JKD the way Bruce did. thats funny Bruce Lee would teach for free or for 20 a month whatever the person could afford.Tommy charges ridiculous amounts of money for his seminars and internet information on JKD. I fail to see the comparison. JKD should be available for any serious practitioner to learn not just for those with loads of money to spend on seminars and internet instruction. When Bruce Lees son brandon lee wanted to learn JKD he went to Dan Inasonto.

you can find the fees on tommy's webpage. The online lesson provided me with loads of valuable information and found it so far better than those instructional vids that usually are available on the market.
the semi at his school was for free and lasted 6hrs and he was offering free workshops for a while.
i personally met him and can say he's a very generous person i never felt what he charged was expensive compared to the guys where i live. just my 5 cent.

Im not sure up to when bruce charged nothing for his lessons if im right he was unemployed and living in james lee's house for free and might have needed the cash to eaze the pain for not being a great support for the family. i saw in a book a business card of his offering 10 lessons for 1000$ i could hardly believe it myself when i saw this.

He was only charging so much when he found out that celebrities had money to throw around. He was initially going to charge them $25 per lesson untill he was told that he should charge more.

I doubt very much you have even met or spoken to Tommy. Otherwise you wouldnt of said such things that are so far from the truth. It wasn't so long ago that Tommy was doing FREE seminars for people all over the world provided they pay for his travel expenses. Bruce Lee closed his schools only trained his friends and charged $1000s of dollars for classes to celebs. Brandon went to Dan because Dan was world known and a full instructor. Where is Dan now though, he was booted out!

Yeah, but what about many of us who are not celebs? There's not enough reason for Carruthers to charge that kind of money to everyone. I'm sure he is an amazing teacher, and also the closest-thing to Bruce Lee in terms of physical condition and fighting ability. But he just ask too much money just for a few lessons.

I do not believe Tommy teaches celeb fees, If you ever get the oppotunity to train with him you would know its worth every penny, I've never felt any confusion or anything lacking from his instruction. If I was lucky enough to live in Glasgow I would be there training every night!
If he wanted to be rich he would be selling off instructorship certificates, and a world wide organization with 10s or 100s of memebers in each country like certain other JKD folks old and new...

...but no he has no instructors and 1 school in a basement in Glasgow, his teaching is how he feeds himself and his family, he isnt wizzing around the world in 1st class, he isnt a Bruce Lee wannabe either, you need to look closer at other intructors who obviously worship Bruce Lee, post his image everywhere, use the JKD or game of death colours on everything thing. Tommy seems to be the only one Walking On.

His methods are by far the best and most efficient. Actaully tested.
And for 3 months it's $125, that's only around 42 a month. Most martials arts school charge +$100 per month, while teaching watered down wing tsun, and terrible boxing.
Tommy's definetly worth it.

If the onyl thing that drives you is the fear of getting hurt then you would do best to simply avoid dangerus places. It feels like overkill to spend years of dedicated training simply for self defence
