When you make some products, some resources and energy are consumed. When you use the products, they use energy (i.e. cars consume gasoline for running). The products will be waste after using. Production means the process of conversion resources to waste, and energy to heat.
A lot of computers have been introduced into automated plant nowadays. It has increased the amount of production too much. This is the reason why the destruction of the environment has been serious, I think.
I know civilization let us affluent. But, I also hesitate to continue excessive materialistic society. We should aim to the social that gives us moderate life with less resources and energy in efficient use.

When you make some products, some resources and energy are consumed. When you use the products, they use energy (i.e. cars consume gasoline for running). The products will be waste after using. Production means the process of conversion resources to waste, and energy to heat.
A lot of computers have been introduced into automated plant nowadays. It has increased the amount of production too much. This is the reason why the destruction of the environment has been serious, I think.

You have to down the price. Your work will accordingly be hard and your income will decrease for cost down. Life becomes difficult.

I actually think a virus wiping out 99% of the current population would be much more feasible (MEANING back to 70 million or the level the Earth was at during the time of Pharaoh's). Pronategens? LOL. I'm not sure if that was a purposeful mistake, but it's a good way to reference Pronatalist. Not only that, but we'll misplace animals. Some predators which will try to use us as prey for their food and be shot for it. WHY??!! They're just trying to survive and if I was killed, I'd be pissed, but I wouldn't want someone to get revenge for me. We'd also use up the Earth's trees for houses which makes the amount of oxygen produced decrease. I know, it's coming soon, probably.

I think he knows but his religious beliefs blind him from the truth. Its the problem with most of the world today. Many are so controlled by the power of the church and their infantile teachings, plus overpopulation has produced even more brainwashed sheep, that very few people can see the truth for what it is.

permaculture? is that allotments. sounds a bit of a rosy picture. trouble is they are no where near as efficient at growing stuff as petrochemical fueled agriculture.
we need to seriously reduce the population if we are to grow enough food for ourself with allotment growing, as losses are massive to weeds, pests etc. the population was only about 1 billion before fossil fueled mechanization started. it would have grown to todays number long before mechanization if it was as efficient.

In fact, the higher a nations IQ the higher the footprint. To illustrate: It's not the nigerians who use most of the oil being spewed out into the niger delta, its the OECD nations (those with the highest IQ) that are the main investors and importers of the nigerian oil, the indonesian wood etc.

Dr. Rosling seems to propose a much "easier" solution along the lines of what you proposed. Instead of changing the genetics that are responsible for IQ's, you can simply change economics. He explains a message that was clearly communicated in my sociology 101 class -- poverty equals population booms.

global warming may not be 100% proven, it's a reasonable hypothesis,
it's just one of many potential problems.
the ultimate problem is % of biomass/energy/land controlled & manipulated by humans & so much change so rapidly, and the change is accelerating.
a complex system like the earth must be adjusted gradually to give the whole time to adapt & re-balance. we are only one type of cell in nature.

-humans put things in orbit
-humans have replicated the suns power for purely destructive purposes
-humans have unlocked material stored over geological timeframes and returned them unto the atmosphere in a short period of time
-humans have synthesized chemicals that nature hasn't previously had to deal with
-evolution takes millions of years, yet some humans will have experienced our numbers trippling in their lifetime
