I watched these shows as a kid, so cool to see them on youtube. Nice to see Handsome get jiggy and break the TV, then kick Koko's ass all over the studio. Staged, but still pretty funny.
i never understood why the tv title was often times wrestled for during non-televised matches and back in the day nearly all the major cards were non-televised cuz the promoters made the bulk of their income from arena gate receipts.
@GohModley yep. In fact the territory that I loved and grew up on Portland wrestling also known as big time wrestling worked that way although you did see a lot of championship matches on tv.
i think i remember him breaking that tv too this is great i wish this could last forever praise God for youtube this stuff would have been gone forever wrestling today makes me sick ive tried to watch I cant sit thrugh more than 15min b4 i lose focus but i could watch this forever
I'm guessing Jimmy was a face in Memphis, until this incident. If that's the case, this is a good turn, since Jimmy had a reason for his actions (Koko caused him to be pinned), whether or not you agreed with him.
The title was actually called the NWA Mid-America Television Championship as recognized by CWA.

@zaius316 mainly a face but kind of a tweener- got cheered even when he used heel tactics like raking the eyes and showing a huge ego.

I'm glad to see footage of Handsome Jimmy and not the boogie woogie man.He was actually a respected wrestler before he became comic relief.
king4916 3 years ago
Great classic footage. What year was this? I'm guessing 1981 or 1982, since I began following it in 1984.
Cobra37061 3 years ago
@Cobra37061 It's definitely before 1981.........pretty sure it's 1979.
