Evolution is still a THEORY. Somehow people believe that a THEORY is more correct than the Christian Bible. There is actually evidence of Biblical writings such as the shrowd of Jesus, the great flood, mountaintops, geography and the Egyptian Exodus. There is no EVIDENCE about evolution....there is data and graphs that show correlations, but there is no actual evidence. I am not saying I believe in God, but still evidence is more proof than linear relations which try and explain evolution.
@Jakepod34 Don't poke at the word theory - in the scientific sense, a theory is just a few hairs short of a fact. Where they went wrong is the labeling. The theory of evolution is actually a hypothesis - meaning that it hasn't been observed and proven. What they're suggesting takes thousands of times longer to observe than all of recorded history.
@elk832 No... Its called the Theory of Evolution, not the hypothesis of Evolution. A theory is a set of facts in relation to one another and how they aim at achieving the same goal. And actually, evolution has been observed and proven....just not in humans. We cannot observe that because humans have only been around for a few thousand years; not allowing enough time to actually study physical changes. If we find the true missing link to our geneology, it will only be stronger in theory.
@Jakepod34 The very small scale evolution like a generation microorganisms gaining more efficient cilia has been observed and proven, but the large scale evolution like how that same microorganism millions of year later is now an advanced, sentient race can't have been observed simply due to the massive amount of time it would take. So they're sort of jumping the gun by including the second part in that theory.
@elk832 Hence my point...human evolution cannot be proved until we find the missing link. Even then the mystery of the unknown is still present, because we cannot go back in time yet and actually prove anything. And no, a theory does not have to be just a few hairs away from fact. I don't know where you got that from....many theories are not even close to fact, which again brings me back to my point. You cannot prove/disprove a theory, you can only change it to make it fact.
@anonymoustruther2 I guess I haven't made my point clear enough, unless you can definitively prove the existence of God, Agnosticism is the only logical choice.
The arguments I've presented in my other post don't prove anything for either side. They make a compelling case, but nothing is proven. That's the only point I wanted to make here.
And may I say, while remaining as adult as I can.... You started it :P
"You aren't treating me like I did" please explain this, I don't understand.
@anonymoustruther2 Jesus taught to treat others as you would want to be treated, so you don't mind if I call you a moron, ignorant, and a dumbass right?
@anonymoustruther2 So the closest thing to the original religion (Either Roman Catholicism or Eastern Orthodoxy) is the Extreme? Nice logic there.
I've researched it extensively actually, I know of Aquinas' logical proofs of existence of God. I know that the statistical probability of there not being a God is near-statistically negligible. I also know atheist arguments, like the fact that the only reason God was thought of was to explain the unexplainable so it's useless now that we know more.
Evangelicals are on the extreme side of christiandom, there is no disputing that.
And I don't see why having an opinion over the existence of God is being stupid and ignorant. There are no proofs towards the existence of God. That being said, there is no proof towards the non-existence of God. There are good arguments for both sides, but there is no conclusive evidence. With that being said, agnosticism is the MOST logical choice and is certainly not stupid or ignorant.
