This is the first song I learned all the words to, when i was three. Brian was really one of the first artists I can remember really loving along with Todd Rundgren, and The Beatles. Hearing this for the first time in about 10 years has really made me appreciate my father's huge influence on my taste in music, and the fact that i'm not like all the other teenagers only listening to people like Lil' Wayne.
@SuperJohnCenaFan23 Brian didn't smoke crack. He abused cocaine but was off before crack came about. Also, Brian's wife cheated on him with his bodyguard because Brian was suffereing from mental illness and depression, which made him unable to be a good husband or father. So, you are wrong, but no Brian was not perfect. However, despite Brian's handicaps he has shared nothing but love and mercy with the world through his songs; unlike Jonh Cena and the WWE who promote sex and violence to kids.
@BeachBoy420Beef Well said!!! Love and Mercy...He's amazing and I'm glad he's still with us and sharing his enormous amount of talent. We are so very lucky.
This music takes me to positive realms beyond. That's as close to a literal fact as it can get to on this side of the veil. It's roots and emanation are transmitted from.there. Carl's got his hand in this. So does half of Heaven. No other explanation suffices. Thanks Brian.
What a welcome addition thealbum "Imagination" and this song "Your Imagination" were when they were released, can you believe, over 13 years ago? As a lifelong Beach Boys fan, a tremendous void of treasured music that was missing for over a decade (or more!) was, finally, shared by the rock genius, Brian Wilson. "Lay Down Burden" was a truly fitting send-off to his brother Carl (and I didn't realize that Carl actually wrote it). This music just can't be matched!
"I took a trip through the past and got to spend it with you..."
I mean who, but Brian, could come up with that lyric so universal and yet so personal? Just another stroke from the genius pen. Thank you, Brian. Thank you. A decade later, this still sounds fresh and magical.

THIS is the Brian Wilson we all love and cherish: timeless melodies, soaring harmonies, exquisite layered production values...a pipeline to aural ecstasy and good vibes forever!
This album BLOWS away so many of the weaker B Boys efforts of the mid-70's (most of 15 Big Ones, all of Love You, MIU, L.A.) IMHO.
"Brian's Back" never happened until this album! (Who needs Mike Love, anyway?)
Celebrate the man and his unmatched talent -- when it's focused on making GREAT music like this!!
Viewcount is 5261. Pretty good for a song that most people haven't heard. It's been on YouTube! before but was pulled for copyright infringement. I LOVE IT!! Thanks to YouTube's lonelysea1980 for the great post!
@SkyHbr Uh sir, Carl passed away while BW was making this album--indeed, BW dedicated it to him, & Lay Down Burden was written for Carl. Carl passed, Feb, 1998, & Imagination was released June, 1998. Wolfsky9
This is without a doubt the most played song over the intercomm at retail outlets. I don't care what major chain you visit. They play this song at least once a day LOL. The lyrics are so cheery, both lyrically and harmonically (is that a word?).
Anyway, props to brian for creating another pop masterpiece. Funny how it only has 3k views. I couldn't figure out who sang it. At first I thought it was peter cetera from chicago. Someone else thought it was the beach boys. That clued me in :-)
Simply the best. No other can come close. I can't thank you enough for the warmth you have added to my life. Your heart is exposed in each and every song you compose. Thank you Brian for the wonderful gift you posess. Linda
for all of brians problems when he is this good its almost like he has a direct line to a higher power and he's trying his best to translate it to the rest of with his music, thank you brian, thank you
Well done, you! This is one of my all-time favorite songs but it's been off YT for a bit (copyright stuff). I hope this great song is here for awhile! Thanks to YouTube's lonelysea1980 for this much-hoped-for post! And MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Great post! Been looking for this on Youtube for a while! But I did purchase it on iTunes! One of my favourite Brian Wilson songs! The harmonies are perfect! And the melody and lyrics are beautiful!

How about teaming with the Moody Blues and do one hell of a tour combining the best of both worlds?

I saw brian 3 times in Holland.
In 2009 he played this song live, and it was great to hear it.

This song brings tears to my eyes, even when I hear it walking through a grocery store or somewhere public.
Can't help it.
Beyond beautiful, the harmonies, the melody, his lyrics.
Crushes me in a good way, makes me happy to be alive.

Good song, I like the lyrics, which I can definately relate to. Doesn't he sound a little like Ozzy Osbourne, though?

I love the horns in the last minute or so, they kind of sound like something off of Sgt. Peppers or Magical Mystery Tour. Brian is the man.

You have to believe this song was written by Brian for Carls voice. I can hear him singing it; its a strain for Brians voice.
