Just love this lick. :) Been transcribing it from this video. I'm only halfway there but love it so much. I'm thinking about joining guitarmasterclass only because of you! :)
That is a BEAUTIFUL guitar. I'm a drummer and a partial guitarist, but I mainly play a lot of chord oriented material. I'm dying to learn the ways of the funk dudes!
Just a question, myself as a metal guitarist with a lot of barok influence with the fiddly diddly style i really want to become more skilled in jazz and especially funk exept for using 4th arpeggio's and dorian. any kinds of 'structures' i can use to make it sound more funk jazzy?
@stephlucarelli How do you apply the chromatics? I assume by feel. But when you tried applying them the very first time.. did you pay more attention to any definite notes "outside" the D Dorian?
@stephlucarelli seems like you switch from d major to d dorian. i saw that f# and c# in there a few times. I saw more chromatics but the other chromatics you did seemed like they were just passing tones not really a different scale.
@MrBKreeves No, only D dorian & arpeggios from the scale. To keep things simple ( and it is!), considers any others notes as chromatics / passing tones.
@kostakos1331 I hope you can spice it up more. Too many notes of the same value. Use polythytmic more in yopur phrasing, that's one (of many way to make it more interesting for the lister).
this is just outrageously awesome! do you have any lessons or walkthroughs for this? i love smooth jazz and i would want to incorporate this kind of playing with mine. truly awesome video and music!

@far3s13 You could play any notes outside the scale/mode as long it's in a musical way. Tension/resolution, going from point A to point B...
