@jagdtoq- well green ones taste sour. they taste nice will alittle salt and chilly powder. there are many types of mangoes. they come in diff sizes and some r sweeter than the other. most popular is alphonso mango. they r vry sweet. some mangoes are only for juice purposes so they r squisher than others so easy to make juice out of them. mangoes are eaten along with icecream n other indian desserts as well to add a twist to the dessert. hope this was helpful! enjoin mango season here in india!:)
I cut the avacados similary, but also go through undersurface after they are cross cut as you noted, hence producing dinced avacadoes. Although I eat it, not really a Mango fan :-) But you made me hungry, and I have eaten :-))
Eating it raw is delicious too, believe it or not...haha
If you are willing to try...slice it up and add them to shoyu, vinegar and sugar...careful with the vinegar not too much. Once you can acquire that taste, it can be addicting!
@Jagdtoq It's not unless it's NOT ripe. When it's ripe, OH MY GOSH, it practically melts in your mouth. FIND ONE and report back to me.....make sure it's squishy to the touch and with color on the rind.
Gotta admit this was cool. But I prefer a good ole Georgia peach. Yummm...
It has been said that the seed of a peach (Not the "pit" but the seed inside of the pit which resembles an overgrown acorn) contains cyanogenetic glycosides. This produces cyanide when digested. BUT....this form of cyanide supposedly harms only one part of the human body and that is cancer cells.
This is highly debated but many believe it to be affective. Apricot seeds are also supposed to be good for you.

I've never had a raw mango, it looks and sounds chewy and fibrous?
