  • a top top u2 track.

  • a top top u2 track.

  • "October", "The Unforgattable Fire", "War" and "The Joshua Tree" are the best of their albums.

  • Edge overload. The guy doesn't know when he can't leave a song alone to have a breather. Can't have a cup of tea with or without him

  • @McBringbackfags He doesn't play guitar as much as guitar-as-synthesizer these days.

  • @PerpetualSpringtime Did you mean he plays synthesizer more?

  • 51planet U2 Radiohead Bush Cars Autobahn- if free speech is allowed and information is not censored? but shared to solve the economies of misery that should no longer exist Bono and the bann would not have shared this song - thank you::))>>

  • I love the guitar track as the song is ending

  • To rlutinski3, of course you wouldn't want to listen to the same music, but the quality of their creativity, their ability to captivate a mood and expand upon it was revolutionary thirty years ago. They really did depart from it around the 90's. It's all good, the early stuff was just epically better. Like this gem of a song.

  • this was awsome at red rocks

  • sweet

  • u2 when they were still u2?? i feel some of their best music was made back then, but do you REALLY want to listen to 30 years worth of the same songs played over and over? they evolved, take influences from other genres.

  • U2 are U2, they born and evolve, all of you sould hear them better... Hear moment of surrender

  • gosh i love the cover. the kid is gorgeous

  • @ManicNirvana69 It's not good to know that you are manic.

  • Album of the teen GEN X..listened to this album religously at school in th 80's,,every song start to end is fuck'n AWESOME,,,surrender timeless track..

  • I'm 21, and black, and really like this song. I doubt there are too many people around my age that really like this song, or type of music. The lyrics to this song is awesome.

  • @coolwafferman Good to know you're black

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hermosa música!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I LOVE U2!

  • this is such an awesome song!

  • back up voices of this track sung by Adriana Kaegi alias one of the Kid Creole Coconut. Amazning, uh ?

  • THIS IS A GREAT SONG OFF OF A GREAT ALBUM!!!!

  • sounds a bit like the fixx

  • @finefilth

I'm a BIG Fixx fan and I agree with your assessment. They do sound similar on this tune.

  • @n8tureboy SAME TIME PERIODD MORE OR LESS .... sounds a lot like red sky tonight

  • @n8tureboy ive seen the fixx a few times , .. he sings beautifully..

  • laat,je,me,nog,even,liggen,vampirella,kan,niet,tegen,licht,ben,jy,used,aan,weinig,nachtrust,een,dipje,ok,

  • Go Bono!

  • The members of U2, except for Adam Clayton, come from Christian backgrounds (either Irish Catholic or Irish Catholic/Protestant mixed families) and Christian spirituality are a part of a lot of their music, especially in their earlier albums. This song does portray a woman on the verge of suicide. But, there is also redemption in the song as well. Near the end of the song, the words, "If I wanna live I gotta die to myself someday." This idea of dying to self comes out of Bono's Christian faith.

  • That´s really a great name!! :D

  • @MsTotty19 Mmm I don't think so :S it's just ok!

  • My best friend's name is Zeidy (in Spanish) because of this song. Coooool!!!!! =D

  • @jennifersolano

Your friend must be a emo :S

  • 7 people are upset because it's too late to have sex with the boy on the cover

  • @seizetheweakened Fucking paedo.

  • all organised religion is evil. i was brought up in catholic ireland! I reject everything them cunts ever tried to say to me. We might as well be nazi youth its the same thing!

  • I surrender my pride to you, Miriam Caro

  • This should be playing in certain sequences of Ridley Scott's Bladerunner!!

Someone should have visuals from the film to this track.

It's annoying all my albums are on vinyl from Boy right up to Zooropa

  • This is so weird... My neighbor was showing me his vegetable garden today, and I picked up an index card randomly lying under his orange tree. It was blank on top, and just had "Sadie" written on the bottom, but I didn't ask him why. And then tonight I felt impelled to dial up this song to luxuriate in its mind-blowing guitar textures, and realized the mysterious Ms. Sadie from this song's lyrics must've brought me here.

  • Mi banda Favorita..¡¡ So amazing

  • What guitar work!

  • Esta canción me mata. La recuerdo en los momentos más tristes y me "levanta". Es increíble como U2 tiene esa cualidad de transportarte en el tiempo

  • u2 ...when they were still "u2"..

  • @Zontar82 1000% correct! Bring back that old U2 someone! :-(

  • @Zontar82 ...and before they grew up, maybe time you moved with the times with them ;)

  • U2, the best Rock and Roll band yet!!

  • smashin song

  • Did you mean to say that "Boy War Album was the best?

  • she tried to be a good girl and a good wife

  • those are the best 3 i agree this song kicks ass...toooooniiiiiiiight

  • Boy,War and Unforgettable Fire are best imho.

Joshua Tree and after didn't do as much for me BUT there are definitely gems every now and then so they are still relevant and evolving.

  • @bootlegapples Joshua Tree definetly and then War and Unforgettable Fire ! After that they sold IMO

  • great song!!! U2!!!

  • Awesome music, glad to get back to their old style

  • Pity they didn't name the album 'Peace' instead.

What were they thinking? - war is the most evil thing on earth, death, terror, poverty and misery is all that it is good for, but it's damn profitable for the scum who promote it and actively encourage it to line their own pockets.

  • @KenfromDublin idiot

  • @akul04 Speak for yourself you completely worthless, evil idiot. ;)

  • Im a Major U2 fan, and this is the first time that I hear this song : (

I like it, it has a fun vibe.

The guys need to play this song more often...

  • Great slide solo!

  • I love this song

  • She got herself up on the 48th floor

Got to find out, find out what she's living for.

  • Oh, the city's alight

    With lovers and lies

    Bright blue eyes

  • I love this song. My fav thing about WAR, was its raw power. Its a masterpiece. I haven't heard anything quite like it before or since. I also love the back up vocal by "The Coconuts"

  • This sounds like it could be on Zooropa!

  • this is the shit

  • One of my favorite U2 songs! It really takes me back in time. These are the 80s I'll always miss!

Maybe someone could disagree, but this kind of stuff from U2 is as dark as Simple Minds's "Sparkle In the Rain".

  • This song is ethereal!! And yes, mesmerizing...I used to just get lost in it when I played this LP!! And I def agree that Joshua Tree was their last good album. I just hope Steve Lilywhite doesn't wreck one of my fav bands right now-Blue October. He produced their last CD "Approaching Normal."

  • i'd like to see what the little girl looks like now

  • @coopkid771 ahh, that is actually a little boy...lived down the lane from Paul

  • @coopkid771 He`s a boy, not a girl:-)

  • Best of each of the four. Bono's vocal, The Edge's progressions, Mullen's drums, and Clayton's Bass go together seamlessly on this one. Simply mesmerizing.

  • This is the U2 I grew to love. Whis they could have kept their focus. It was all down hill with Rattel and Hum.

  • Great song!

  • u2 no fear maun ive learned so much from their tunes

  • i agree..U2 is great no matter if I listen to Boy, or to POP

  • My favorite by U2. The atmospheric guitar and Mullen's rhythmic drums make it seem almost mesmerizing. Songs like these that made them one the best bands on the planet.

  • love this song....all of this album is fab.....the guitar and drums.....savage!

  • Massa!! Massa!!!!

  • Awesomeness.

  • Brilliant song, excellent album

  • very very dreaming

  • This one, like Red Light, has both the melody and the rhythm-awesome!:D

  • this track was made because of bonos anger wow i totally get it

  • @lovelifelearnlaugh05 what was he angry about then?

  • i think this is one of the best songs of this awesome band. It´s a real and strong song.

  • Agreed!

  • @kalaikus Compare this to the crap they put out in the 90s, especially late 90s with Zooropa and Pop.

  • i disagree. Just cause it's different doesn't mean it's crap. people expect bands to not change...U2 wasn't afraid to take chances. Pop is amazing I think, very dark at times but well worth listening to. War is probably my all-time fave lp though....

  • @KOSMICKEN09 My music of choice is prog so i'm all for change, Pain of Salvation are one of my fav bands and they change radically from album to album, i just want it to be decent and for me it wasn't with U2. In my eyes they went off the boil and haven't produced anything of substance in years.

  • @spaticus09 you cant reproduce anything to keep up with idiots like you.savour the moment.

  • @bansheewhiskey idiots like me?..i'm an idiot for what?

  • @bansheewhiskey BE HERE NOW, dont call anyone an idiot, ya dick!

  • @KOSMICKEN09

I agree, a classic for sure.

  • Mystery mood

  • Awesome track.

  • wow who is this band

  • so you named ya daughter surrender.....!

  • hahah yeah

  • classic u2 the best

  • I named my daughter after this song!

  • Sadie yeah?....nice name :)

  • Thanks!

  • @spaticus09

No, "Surrender". I think it's Pakistani.

  • @beowulven - - - silly boy! It's not about Pakistan!

  • @spaticus09 wonder if sexy sadie may have influenced bono's sadie in this song.

  • @spaticus09 Thank God for that....thought there was a poor soul in this world called Surrender for a second there.

  • @spaticus09 Why not call yourself Surrender

  • @MetalMoo69 Is she trying to be a good girl? :)

  • @MetalMoo69 haha when sadie finds out that she was named after a woman who's probably about to commit to suicide what will she think :P

  • Tough song to get through when you're an angst filled teen contemplating suicide. (That was 25 years ago so don't worry)

  • Una canción con una fuerza demoledora muchos años después de oírse por primera vez. Los primeros discos de U2 son geniales y sobre todo, son auténticos y directos como pocos. STRONG SONG!

  • This is my favorite song from this album and it TOTALLY holds up 20 plus yrs later...!

  • all U2 material is awesome regardless of who produced it!!

  • If they started with the stuff their writing today I don't think they would be as successfull today

  • The best from War. ... and their earlier stuff sounded better. Production doesn't mean shit, if it sounds good, it sounds good.

  • surrender is a great song. all the losers give your opinions please.

  • Boy October War are the best album

  • I agree, those 3 albums are way ahead of anything else they did.

  • @spaticus09 was the climate of the times.

  • @harristerence What about The Unforgettable Fire?

  • I'm with you on that, i love this track. Its the backing vocals that make it for me but the song as a whole is great, its got a haunting quality...for me it has anyway.

  • @ravinella Trent Reznor is an admirer of U2 you will be sad to hear and only recently produced a remix album of their material. You are obviously a closet U2 fan otherwise you wouldn't be here'

  • Love the kid's hair - what product did he use I wonder?

  • This along with Refugee, I threw a brick through a window are songs that never got airplay but were in my opinion better than the ones that did.

  • Yeah, same here :)

  • Love this tune CLASSIC

  • Ah what a load....

  • this album made me discover them...on a frigid winter night in 1984. i knew they were gonna be big.

  • U2 considered the most greatest band in the world no matter what people say, man

  • Eu os amooo d+++...

  • A melhor fase do u2...

  • man i really dug ...this album as a teen

  • Si mi piace........

  • This is my all time favorite U2 album!

  • die2no you don't know anything

  • what the fuck happen?they should of stay with this sound and took tips from killing joke.cause after this they went gay and very lame.

  • it's called selling out, its such a shame because this band WAS the 80's.

  • u24ever !!!

  • love this song too

  • Love this song, first heard it when I was a teen, love it.

  • They make great music spastic. who cares.

  • mizkellcat, grow up

  • How dare you!!

  • Another great song.

  • Bono has a big head.

  • And people like you gave it to him. You do realize that there are three other members of the band, right? What do you have to say about them. If you hate Bono for thinking he's the only person who matters, then stop treating him like he is.

Go ahead, ask me, and I'll tell you exactly what I think about The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.

  • He still has a big head though, no matter what you say. Saw him trying on various hats in Primark...not good.

  • Big deal - how perfect are YOU???

  • I'm as perfect as they come soft lad.

  • Oh, you lucky fellow! But can you sing like Bono? Are your efforts to save the world as dedicated as his? No biggie - we are all God's childen, and I still admire Bono - big head and all! Have a good day!

  • Well I'm not a fellow, and as for Bono...he made more money in his life than ever before when doing his so-called-charity work.

Just like money face Geldof...now there's another one who claims to be all heart, when really they're coining it in, when it comes to Live-aid etc. Bah!!

  • Have you ever stopped to think how much him and that ugly buffon Bob Geldof made, with their pretend 'let's save the children and all that crap'?

Infact, the way buffon Bob Geldof went about his business when it cane to Band Aid, etc....he actually made matters wores.

  • Buffoon even.

  • Ha, "soft lad"...you gotta be a scouser?. I agree with you on the bono having a big head thing. Great singer but he's up his own ass in a massive way.

  • Spaticus09-I agree sometimes Bono comes across as an arrogant prick....But I believe it is a protective mask. I think Bono is a very sensitive soul who hides behind dark glasses and has tried for years to erase his "messiah" image. He was not always like that...Remember the early days, how soft spoken and vunerable he was? Have you ever seen the interviews with him on the film " The unforgettable fire"? You have every right to dissagree with me,but this is just my opinion.....

  • This is one of there great underatted songs!!

I love to see U2 do a tour of just there songs from the 80s. I am sure that everyone would love it.

  • @tacobob89 that' would be good but I sure wish they would close w/'40'. a classic show closer if you remember the 80's shows. sing w/me, this is "40."

  • @TheRayTV - - - Me too! I do so wish that the band, U2, would play in concert the great oldies!!!!!!!!!

  • @sunny1kiss they did play a few unheard oldies on the latest tour... like electrical storn and bad....

  • this song is so good live.

  • My favorite song on War 2)Sunday Bloody Sunday 3) New Year's Day

  • I can see why mum was in their fan club at my age now!

  • Oh,man does this song give you a feeling of nostalgia of the infamous 80's.I love the beat and the female singers voice resonating.

  • Has anyone found out who the boy is in the picture and he is the one who appear in the video Two Hearts Beat as One?Is he related to the band members?

  • macchè related..
