@irelandcool1 Not at all. I've rarely played a game where Quicktime Events pose any challenge to my reflexes at all.

Apart from one or two fights in the game Fahrenheit, I've seen anything ranging from 2 to 10 seconds time to actually press the QTE buttons. Doesn't sound like a lot, but you have to be nearly braindead if you miss a big, glaring button input in front of your face for 10 seconds.

They often survive so that they can go slowly mad by the relisation that the universe is a cold, unfeeling place, where the great old ones will some day take over, where humans are less worth than the smallest bacteria. E.g At the Mountains of Madness and The Dunwich Horror. And the Shadow over Innsmouth.

H.P. Lovecraft is in the Public Domain, which basically means all of his works are free and do not have a lot of copyright requirements. The person who created Batman was a fan of Lovecraft, so he included Arkham Asylum in it. If you Google H.P. Lovecraft, you can find a website with all of his works in there, free of charge.

They had to cut so much to release this on console. It was in production for many years - too bad, it didn't sell well enough to save them from bankrupt. I also hate how they dumbed down the game for console players. Still, it's a flawed masterpiece.

@YoJimBoHugabaJoe Arkham Asylum/Sanitarium is not a real place. Batman ripped off the name from H. P. Lovecraft who created it in the 1920's. Arkham, Massachusetts is modeled after Salem, Massachusetts. Lovecraft was trying to create a type of American Transylvania for his horror stories. Ironically most Batman villains wouldn't survive 2 seconds in Lovecraft's Arkham.

Honestly, the story just BARELY kept me going long enough to finish the game, the story is great but the gameplay itself and the retarted puzzles you have to solve really drag everything down, which is a shame because the start of the game was really promising untill the chase sequence spoony talks about. If you really want to check out this game, look up a playthrough here on youtube, because it's not worth the space on your computer. Otherwise, prepare to read a walkthrough cuz you'll need it.

@AFnord Considering How messed up some of villains and people get, it's a wonder they haven't just done an all-out Batman-Lovecraft crossover. Or maybe they have? I've never read any of the comics, so I guess I'd probably check that out before suggesting something.

This game was problematic for me. I loved the atmosphere and the gaming experience is fairly close to Lovecraft's writing but the Innsmouth chase was impossible for me. I played it on the PC and my character simply moved to slowly to even escape the hotel room. Very frustrating since I was very much into the game.

You need to close the doors behind you and lock them, and also move things in front of the doors that you can not lock. You have plenty of time if you do this.

I found this a problem for a certain area you have to escape later in the game. I actually found some weird engine tweak before I could complete it. I could escape the hotel room though.

The game is amazing, but the difficulty curve is pretty ridiculous at times.

But the combination of all the best moments from the stories blending together was AMAZING.

In particular, the scene where you move from room to room, bolting the doors behind you, was JUST as I imagined it in the story! Fantastic.

Just finished playing through this one, and Spoony's quite right, this game is awesome!

The PC version I was able to find had many glitches in it that prevented me from completing it normally (had to download save file to bypass shooting things on a non-zoomable beach). It must kick ass on a smoother xbox.
