Well, you have a good point. I have a lot of respect for Mesopotamia. After all, it was the first civilization and was powerful for a long time till Alexander the great of Macedonia crushed it. But keep in mind that when Europeans care to Americas, there were only Indians here that had no technology at all. They were not even as good as Romans were 2000 before that. So it was easy to take over North America.

the Middle Ages — seen as a Catholic era — were dark. It was something made up out of whole cloth. As for indoor plumbing, how many homes even within ancient Rome itself do you think actually had it? Now, how many outside of Rome do you think had it? It was not a matter of "forgetting" it most likely, as it was simply a function of poverty. Even today, there are many areas in the world where indoor plumbing is unseen. Did their inhabitants "forget" about it, too?

I never said that the 1500s were part of the Middle Ages; I said that the IDEA that they were "Dark Ages" grew out of the conflict between the Protestants and Catholics in the early 1500s. Get it? It's impossible to reason with someone who can't even assimilate simple facts.

I think your handle is one letter off, by the way. Obviously, if you have the dissolution of a super-power (Rome), there is going to be some dislocation, but this doesn't mean the age was "dark." As for the toilets, it's a little ridiculous to compare 1300 with today, don't you think? It's significant that even people today don't have indoor plumbing; it isn't significant that no one in the Middle Ages did. The Indians? Due to immigration, they were eventually going to be outnumbered regardless.

(i.e., If you look only at poor whites vs. poor blacks their stats will line up fairly closely for these indicators). The root cause of the disproportionate poverty is centuries of systemic/institutional oppression and continued de facto segregation.
