Kansas played both these teams during that season. Kansas came from behind to beat North Carolina State in Reynolds Coliseum 74-67 in December. Kansas lost in Allen Fieldhouse to Duke in February 74-70 in overtime, but beat Duke in the Final Four in Kemper Arena 66-59. The Jayhawks would finish the season as national champions.

duke got revenge beating nc state in the acc tourney and then beating unc for the third time in 88 and being acc champs.
