I live in New Jersey and remember on 9/11 my father (US Navy Capt ret.) told me there would now be war. I remember in all the confusion wondering who was attacking us, and whether this was the beginning of WW3. I asked him if anyone would even help us - his answer: the Brits are still tough, they will stand by us. 10 years later - it isn't the war I'd imagined; and it has been a controversial road plagued by mistakes.. but he was right, for better or for worse the British stood by us. They are Britains sons and daughters, Dads, Brothers, Sisters. They are a loved one who can never be replaced. They are our sons and daughters. They shall never be forgotten. We live free and safe because of each and every one of these Brave and Hounorable men and women who have served our armed forces with pride honour fighting for freedom, liberty and democracy. Our sacred soil is due to our armed forces, to these men and women. we must never forget, we must always remember them.
You make it sound like these brave service members had no choice, they had a choice and they decided to fight for what they believe is right. Unfortunately too many of them didn't make it back, but they were prepared to make that sacrifice for their family, friends and people they've never met.
That choice makes their loss even more tragic, they willingly risked themselves. This is why every other soldier will fight their damned hardest to get to a lost comrade.

My pop was a Artillery Soldier for the British Army in WW2 he died of an heart attack because his friends died right by his side. For those who are fighting and that have fallen I give so much respect to those who suffered and are there for our allies and willing to fight for others. You make it sound like these brave service members had no choice, they had a choice and they decided to fight for what they believe is right. Unfortunately too many of them didn't make it back, but they were prepared to make that sacrifice for their family, friends and people they've never met.
That choice makes their loss even more tragic, they willingly risked themselves. This is why every other soldier will fight their damned hardest to get to a lost comrade.
