The experiment is not viable, they cannot just assume that the date went well, there is more to evaluating the success of the experiment then the 'good night kiss'. All of the occurrences in the date have to be accounted for. Besides, the success of the kiss is based on how the date went, and without the actual date occurring, it is impossible to correctly calculate the success of the kiss.

@MathLover314 to calculate the period of the earths rotation around the sun, we need the exact distance separating the two bodies, the mass distribution, their radius. I could build up a nice integral to calculate the gravitational pull exerted by the sun over earth. A smart physicist will just say: "compared to the earth-sun distance, the radius of both objects is negligible, just consider both of them as point particles having masses m1 and m2!", reducing the complexity of the problem. cheers.
