It's partly the mix (the lead isn't neraly loud enough) and partly his voice. Some musicians have difficulty holding a steady voice whilest moving around.

I'm never one for speculation, but sometimes I think the hat that Graham Lebron wears (the guitarist, stage right) is also an homage to Evan Farrell. Evan always wore those hats during the shows I went to.
